I was a KD at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. I loved it. My D is keeping an open mind with all the groups and I think that is smart. I would love her to go KD but it's totally up to her. |
Benzgirl, my D pledged Pi Beta Phi at UGA.

Round 2
Round 2
I will keep it short and sweet. My daughter finished up with 3 houses last night! Here is her thoughts on those houses: Jennifer Aniston - had heard lots of hype about this house, she was rather disappointed! Didn't live up to her expectations at all. Rachel McAdams - Was pleasantly surprised how much she enjoyed this house! The girls were delightful and she had a wonderful time here last night! Kate Hudson - Nice group of girls! Were all very nice to her, but just doesn't think this is the place for her socially. I believe she told me that the Tri-Delts, Chi O's and KD's had to cut about 440 girls due to the new release figure system? They p/u their invites today at 3:15pm and tonight is Skit Night! To Be Continued... |
good luck to your daughter and all the other pnms!

Go Reese!
I believe she told me that the Tri-Delts, Chi O's and KD's had
to cut about 440 girls due to the new release figure system? They p/u their invites today at 3:15pm and tonight is Skit Night! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ Just imagine---midwest NPC's (Not SEC NPC's) releasing over 800 PNM's after 15 minutes of open house. Talk about a need for resume's and pictures! Great posting mom! All the best from one mom to another! TigerOwl I have kept my daughter's thoughts---so don't ever erase your messages from your daughter, they are so sweet to go thru years later! |

If round one cuts were strictly for grades, that would be easy -- You just go down the list. Or, did they have their minds made up before the door song? I went to a school where 1200 went through recruitment. I don't know of any house that cut so many on the first round, and these were houses that only took 30 - 35 in the pledge classes. Either the numbers don't add up, or the PNMs were overly prejudged. |
it that figure is correct, it is not by choice that the chapters cut pnms, but due to release figures from previous years. they have to cut that amount per panhellenic, although they may cut more than that.
|
What a system.
|
Go Reese! I hope she gets invites to her faves!!!
|
I can't get the release figures out of my mind. We know that Tri Delt, ChiO and KD are big. How big? And what is considered small?

im confused
I am not use to this new system that panhellenic has going on during recuitment? The release figures that are given to each chapter are supposed to "balance out the playing field for everyone" in the end?? is that correct?

Yes and in a way it doesn't string some PNMs along who might not be released after first round normally. The numbers that each sorority receives to release is based on their previous years' recruitments, retention rates, and figures like that. I think so far it has worked at Ole Miss. We will see tomorrow when Bid Day comes around how it affected every house. But I have only heard good things so far and tonight at the AOII House when I was helping, we heard that all 9 houses did well so far. |

My daughter's best friend is going through rush at Ole Miss and is anxiously awaiting her bid today. Her number one choice was AOII. She absolutely loved them from day one and nevered wavered. I am keeping my fingers crossed for her. |

Praise the Lord!!
Rush is over and my D is an "AOII til I Die". She is so happy. She called right after she rec'd her bid and was crying with happiness. The squeals and screeches in the background were crazy. She was a KD legacy but was cut by them after skits. She and I were both OK with that though. She was more worried about me and my sister than she was about herself. She was a little surprised though. Since we don't have any ties with Ole Miss this was a jump for her. And she landed on her feet. I'm so happy -- and so relieved. |
Congratulations to your daughter and AOPi. Now mom, time for you to get some rest too! :)

Congratulations to both you and your daughter.... and I second the go get some rest comment from Benzgirl. Seems like you have raised a very well rounded daughter again congrats

girls who did not get bids
Does anyone out there know if there will be any Open Bidding going on
in the next few days for girls who did not get a bid? |
Get in touch with Greek Life at Ole Miss.
I'll PM you their number. |
Thank you very much

Can someone enlighten me on the "New Release" system in place by panhellenic at Ole Miss this year?
Did this require the sororities to cut more girls than usual? |

Quota
Did we ever find out quota? I think someone said "around 80"
|
Quota was 84. AOII got 89. And it seems everyone else got at least 86 or more! So all 9 houses made quota! Yeah!
Apparently quota was set at 84, not 77...I think 77 might have been an early number another advisor gave me...either way all houses made quota so yeah! Sorry! |

This is the second or third year for the new release figures. It requires chapters to release more women up front rather than stringing them along just for the numbers. It makes it a more realistic situation for the PNMs. And the chapters who historically pledge quota, will still do so as they don't need to bring back as many women as perhaps the one who don't always take quota. |
How can you take 12 more than quota if all houses make quota? Does Ole Miss have the 5% rule?
|
yay for more AOII's!!!
