Congratulations on being chosen for such an honor, ryleee! You should be very proud. I feel like being picked for a colony is more difficult since you have to impress national bigwigs not just average women your own age. Enjoy your part in the colonization of a new chapter. What memories you'll make!

Who is smiling and laughing in their bid day shirt now? :D

Meeee!! We have already designated today "Theta Thursday" and we're wearing our bid day shirts :) I think that Panhellinic has a requirement that we wear them Wednesday but since we missed the boat so to speak we're gonna wear ours a day later. I think with us being such a motivated group of young women, this is really going to take off.... SO EXCITED!

Thank you all so much for all your support and kind words, it has really meant a lot through the process.... and I will be back hopefully with pictures for a little Sunday update :)

SthrnZeta 10-04-2007 09:41 AM

Wow, I'm so happy things turned out for you in the end! That is so exciting! There's such a higher level of enthusiasm and motivation when you're colonizing vs just joining and it definitely speaks highly of you that you were chosen as a founding member of that chapter since you had to meet with Nat'l! Good job, CONGRATS and good luck!!! Please post pics!!! And keep us all updated on the colonizing process - I'm curious to hear all about it!!! :D

LionTamer 10-04-2007 11:29 AM

Plus you have a really cool pin

Love the pins that ARE something -- the PiPhi arrow, Kappa key, AlphaChi harp, AZD quill, DG anchor, and Theta kite (especially with a guard)

OleMissGlitter 10-04-2007 11:32 AM

Congrats on http://www.greeku.com/Pictures/House...lpha-theta.gif

As much as I love and treasure my badge, I gotta agree with you on that. I've always thought they looked kinda neat, but it's harder to tell they're a pin with meaning from afar - could be you just like kites, whereas a badge that's shaped like what it is I think is obvious it's not just a random pretty pin. I dunno, I'm torn! Ultimately, I think all badges look better with a guard though - makes them more official looking I think!

violetpretty 10-04-2007 12:01 PM

Congratulations to you for being chosen as a colonizing member of a new chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta!

princessjv 10-04-2007 12:47 PM

i'm curious to know who the other chapters were!

Just a question...and I could be wrong....

But isn't the AXO badge actually a lyre?

AOII Angel 10-04-2007 03:29 PM

I just learned yesterday that AOII's colony pin is a rose. I always wondered if they just used the Sheaf of Wheat pledge pin, but apparently they started using the rose in the '50s.

That's what I've always heard.....

SthrnZeta 10-04-2007 04:25 PM

Yeah, I think it's a lyre also - but it looks kinda similar to a harp. I think it's neat to go to the NPC site and look at the poster of the different pins for all the sororities - my greek advisor had it up in her office when I was in college and when I was a Rho Gamma I was in or around her office a lot so I would always take a curious peak at it. Since we only had 6 groups on my campus, there were lots of pins I had never seen before!

blackngoldengrl 10-04-2007 06:26 PM

Congratulations and welcome to THETA!!!!

violetpretty 10-04-2007 07:06 PM

There was a thread just to talk about pretty pins, but I can't find it. The search function doesn't search for words with three letters, like "pin" or "NPC" for example.

Yes it is a lyre... the first musical instrument played on top of Mt. Olympus by the Greek Gods.

Returning to topic... CONGRATS ON KAT!!

tri deezy 10-08-2007 10:20 PM

you go to my alma mater! from the new facebook group, the colony looks like it's going to be sooo strong!

SWTXBelle 10-09-2007 07:39 AM

Pin hijack

I always liked the fact that our pin has our symbol - the crescent - and our letters. But I'm biased . . . :)
