Ok so the morning of bid day I was so super nervous. It was pouring down rain (least it waited this long). Made me happy that parking was free on Sundays. Anyways... We met at 9 with our rush group and RCs. Fun times, but nerve wrecking. Finally the time came to travel outside, and we all lined up on some stairs in number order. It took FOREVER. They told us 10 would be when we got to open our bid cards, but it ended up being 10:20 when they handed them out. At 10:30 our RCs rushed away as we counted down to opening the cards. I was SO SCARED because I had let my RC convince me to put my last choice on the card.
As our countdown hit zero, we all ripped open the envelopes excitedly. I knew I'd eather scream out of happiness, or cry out of disappointment. Then I saw the Delta Zeta on the card I had recieve and started jumping up and down screaming. I felt bad, because some girls burst into tears, having not recieved their top choices.
I ran down to meet my new pledge class. We got the cutest shirts!!! Next, our RCs revealed what houses they were in... fun, even though a lot of us had already figured out which houses ours were in. Eventually it became time to run to our new houses. The celebrating in the greek community was sooooo crazy. There was loud music everywhere, and screaming girls, and wandering parents. We took pictures when we first arrived in front of the house. I found the girl who had preferenced me and we hugged and screamed and danced.
I don't know if that's a good place to end the story. But seriously, I was sooooo relieved to get my top choice. I had gotten barely any sleep the night before, worrying I'd get my last choice. Last night we went on our PC '07 retreat. It has been busy (whoever told me that before was right). Presentation is on Thursday and I still have to find myself a dress.
Thanks for all the encouragement as I went through this process. The entire week was worth it, and I am incredibly happy now here at UW :)...even though our football team lost the other day :(.
