I didn't get it. What is worse is that I am pretty sure I lost to a collector of greek things and not a sister. If it was a sister I would be okay with losing.

Leslie Anne 06-06-2010 11:44 PM

I'm sorry to hear you didn't win the bracelet. :(

If you or any other GC Kappa Deltas are interested I have two KD bracelets that don't fit me. One is pretty old looking. It has an Art Deco look to it and in the center is the crest. It's sterling silver. The other one is a cuff bracelet with Kappa Delta letters on an oval. It looks like sterling but I'm not sure about it.

I'll post photos if there's any interest.

Katmandu 06-17-2010 09:00 AM

Leslie Anne I would definitely be interested in the art deco looking one. I wear KD jewelry (including my vintage pins) to work often, and love bracelets. PM me if you are interested--just curious, are they tiny, tiny?

WCsweet<3 06-18-2010 01:19 AM

I am interested too and would love to see pictures!

Leslie Anne 07-12-2010 11:39 PM

I'm so sorry it took me so long to post these!

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ne87/084-1.jpg

The Art Deco one is 7 inches long and definitely sterling silver. The other is about 6 3/4 and I think it's sterling but I'm not sure.

I also have some rings that I don't wear because they don't fit me. I'm posting some photos of my KD jewelry in the Badge Trends thread so take a look. :)

Katmandu 07-13-2010 03:49 PM

Leslie Ann I am DEFINITELY interested in the deco one. PM me and let me know cost, etc. I wear KD jewelry to work all the time, and so would guarantee it a good home with lots of opportunities to go out and play.

Leslie Anne 07-13-2010 07:41 PM

I've been looking through all of the KD items I've collected off ebay in the past 10 years and I've realized that most of it is just collecting dust. I'd love to place some of these items with other KDs who'd appreciate and use them.

So...all of the following items are for sale. Enjoy!

*major lane swerve*

Leslie Anne, I know they are not badges but do you think it would be all right to let the Badge Trends readers know about what you posted? I'm positively in awe. Exquisite pieces. Just exquisite.

*tiptoes back into own lane, looking longingly over shoulder at all the pretty things*

Leslie Anne 07-13-2010 09:00 PM

Oh sure! Thanks! I was going to post these in the Badge Trends thread but I realized that I didn't have a single badge to show. :)

But these are lovely pieces that should be appreciated. If memory serves, you do have a badge or two that you could share. I learned so much about the Kappa Delta badge just from reading in that thread (e.g. the differences in the dagger details depending on the badge age).

OKAY I'll move along now ;)

Katmandu 07-13-2010 09:28 PM

I PM'ed you!!

Leslie Anne 07-13-2010 10:23 PM

Here are some more pieces that I've found over the years that are NOT FOR SALE:

From Convention, 1906

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Anne87/101.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Anne87/098.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Anne87/096.jpg

Convention, 1915
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Anne87/095.jpg

Two photos of a piece I had custom made by a Chi Omega.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Anne87/001.jpghttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Anne87/002.jpg

I almost forgot! I found this diamond pendant on ebay and the seller does custom work. I've been thinking I'd like to use the general design of the spiral but have it opened up into a nautilus shape. It's about 3/4 inch square. (smaller than the photo) I'm very excited about it.

Shellfish 07-14-2010 04:12 PM

All of these things are from eBay? Wow. I've been thinking about prowling around antique stores in my area with my eyes peeled, so I feel inspired, even though the chances of finding much are probably low. My mother and sister live in Virginia, though, so maybe sometime I could talk them into doing some antique shopping down there.

The 1915 convention stickpin reminds me of my one KD antique, a large group photo of that convention. At a national convention a while ago, the archives were selling off old photos, so I nabbed that one. It must be a copy and not the only extant one, because the same photo appears in Ordinary Miracles, which was published later. I wish I had thought ahead and bought a bunch from any era--the 1915 one was bought for only a quarter---since my decorating scheme has become retro oriented.

Leslie Anne 07-07-2011 11:49 PM

OMG I love them!!! I won't bid on them if you're interested though.

WaterChild 07-08-2011 12:00 AM

Oh, they are cool! I wish I had a real reason to bid on them.

There is a pretty little KD pin with the letters AN (chapter?) and number on ebay, emeralds and pearls, 19 days left on it:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KAPPA-DELTA-...ht_3383wt_1122.

Shellfish 03-28-2012 10:48 AM

Did anyone else see this pin just sold on eBay?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/350548901268...84.m1438.l2649

It's obviously not the original pin. I wondered if it was one designed before the current style was finalized, but the 28 on the back gives me pause. According to Ordinary Miracles, Julia Tyler worked on a redesign and settled on the familiar badge in 1898, but I doubt that there were 28 initiates by then. Also, it looks like there might be an apostrophe before that 28; if so, the Alpha chapter was dormant by then so that KD could enter the NPC.

Still, it would be interesting to own it, what with the right letters and the important diamond shape. I just wouldn't treat it as an official badge (not that I won the auction).

NUKaydee 03-28-2012 10:51 AM

I'm just waiting for the pin I'm in love with (emerald with diamond points) to show up on eBay. I'd rather have a pin with history than a new one.

That may be a pin from a now defunct national that used the name Kappa Delta until HQ advised them that the name was copyrighted. Can't remember which school had the chapter.

Kappa Delta Locals.

According the old Baird's Manuals of American College Fraternities, there were several local groups who use the name Kappa Delta:

The first was at the University of Alabama 1847 died out in the 1850s.
Other schools were, University of West Virginia, Ohio State University, New York State Teachers Colllege, Pacific University, And the Georgia Institute of Technology.

I think that e-yearbooks.com has copies of the yearbooks which shows these groups.

Hope this helps.

That's definitely Alpha (Wittenberg, Springfield, OH) At one point our chapter (Alpha Nu) was trying to buy it for the chapter, and I'm not sure whether our chapter ended up buying it or it got into someone else's hands (I'm taking a semester off). Hope it didn't go to the wrong people!

Leslie Anne 04-06-2012 10:18 PM

I don't usually point out items currently at auction on ebay but I'd really like someone to enjoy these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330712677155...84.m1423.l2649

It's the two volume History of Kappa Delta by Genevieve Forbes Morse published in 1973. These don't come along very often. They were never sold to individual members. A copy of the history was sent to each KD chapter.

These are great for the budding Kappa Delta info nerd. Packed with facts not included in Ordinary Miracles. And you can't beat an opening bid of 99 cents!

P.S. I'm not the one selling them!

This is my dream badge. I'm literally in pain right now. I know it's going to go up higher than I can afford.

Ugh this is like 20 minutes from my house. Can't I just go and pick it up?

The policy is really confusing, but I think if you win and want to pick it up, they will not charge shipping but will charge $2.0 for handling.

WCsweet<3 12-04-2012 02:30 PM

If anyone is looking on that one specific site, I'm currently watching an auction and will hopefully get it. If you want to know which one, please PM me. I'm trying to be vague so that collectors aren't given much notice about it.

honeychile 12-05-2012 02:16 PM

Item #221161676898 on "that site" is a KD bookend. I know the dealers, and they're good people. It's worth the look!

WCsweet<3 01-12-2013 02:03 AM

I know someone wanted an all pearl and there is one up right now. Almost $300... There are quite a few up sadly. I'm bidding for one of the cheaper ones. Also a cool looking daggar bracelet with a crest charm.

Shellfish 05-21-2014 02:51 PM

There is an incredible item there right now. You'll know it when you see it.
