Yeah - that kinda makes me mad when I see ads for places like Sonic and Quiznos, and they look so good, but there are none in the area. I don't think there are any in CT, but...

I went down to Mississippi last summer, and had Sonic a couple of times. It was really good, one of the best fast food places I've had...and I'm not a huge fast food fan.

sherbertlemons 06-03-2003 10:47 PM

We just got a Sonic near my hometown recently. It's wonderful! They have the best burgers of any fast food place I know of. It's also fairly reasonable!http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...ppy/coffee.gif

Hootie 06-03-2003 10:58 PM

We finally got a Sonic last year. I'd eaten at one when I was in Missouri years ago and they had the best Chilly Cheese Frito Pies! NUMMY!

Will and I would go to Sonic for the Cherry-Lime aid drinks and mix em with Vodka! VERY NUMMY as well!

Great food!

FiReKraCkEr 06-03-2003 10:59 PM

Sour Apples slusies and thier Jalopeno burgers...OMG I am starved!!

bucutie02 06-03-2003 11:02 PM

i really like sonic! however, i havent been there in a while since i have been on a diet.

I have tried sonic breakfast. I got the french toast sticks which were good, and also some breakfast shake- that i really liked!

PrincessHeather 06-03-2003 11:07 PM

We just got a Sonic this year out in Turlock (kinda crazy since its a smaller town..Also I'm not sure where there are other ones in Cali). The waiters/waitresses are on roller skates; which I think is cool.
Its kinda overrated out here. But the slushies are pretty yummy!!

THE BOMB. I LOVE these for some reason. I worked at Sonic when I was 16. Very fun job. We had the option to wear roller skates if we wanted, or sneakers. One girl wore roller skates and I will never forget one time she was taking 3 milkshakes to a car and ended up wearing them. I chose sneakers, lol.

Cherry Limeades are SO AWESOME. When I worked there, I was the cherry limeade pro, lol. Believe it or not they are made with real cherry juice/cherries and real limes. That's why they are the bomb (they are mixed with Sprite).

The ocean water is simply Sprite with a splash of some blue syrup flavoring.

Try the chicken strip basket...those are pretty good also.

AGDLynn 06-03-2003 11:08 PM

Their locations around here are hit and miss, i.e., not close. I did like the one that was close to me in Norcross (north Atlanta). With all those desserts to choose from, perhaps it's a good thing one's not close by.

tinydancer 06-03-2003 11:33 PM

There's one pretty near my house, but I have never seen anyone on skates. My day pretty much is not complete without a lime slush - even in the winter. Boy, those are good!!!

CarolinaCutie 06-03-2003 11:40 PM

Tomorrow I am rolling up the street to my local Sonic and I am going to have a Cherry Limeade... or maybe an Ocean Water. Oh my GOD, I am so glad that someone made this thread! haha I haven't eaten Sonic in a very long time but it is definitely delish. Especially now that it's summer... when I was little, we would always stop for a slushie after going to the pool :)

Eirene_DGP 06-04-2003 04:22 PM

Sonic is all over North and South Carolina and I love it. Some of my favorites are: Coney dogs, any Toaster sandwhich, corn dogs, Sonic #1 & 2 burgers. If you haven't been, you need to check it out.

APhiRattlerGal 06-04-2003 07:01 PM

I dunno how Sonic could be bad. They're good in Texas at least. That is my fave fastfood place. I LOOOOVe their cheese coney and strawberry lime slush...mmmmm

DeltAlum 06-04-2003 09:34 PM

Sonic has been on a huge expansion the past several years, and, frankly, I think some of the older ones are better than the new ones.

Personally, I really like them -- especially the limeaid. And the burgers at the good ones are made like they used to make them back when I was a kid.

The ones that still use carhops on rollerskates are great.

There is one close to us where a lot of old car buffs "cruise" the drive-in like we used to do way back in the 60's.

Overall, I think Sonic is fun.

texas*princess 06-04-2003 09:58 PM

I haven't had a Cherry Lime slush in AGES!!!

dzandiloo 06-04-2003 10:22 PM

Oh man. Now I'm going to be thinking about chicken fried steak sandwiches and jalapeno poppers all night. Dang. Thanks alot people...and I was doing so good....

(not to mention the chocolate malt w/extra malt)

Kevin 06-04-2003 11:01 PM

Oklahoma City, Sonic Corporation HQ.

We have Sonics everywhere! Great for a fast meal. Food is good and many of them take credit cards!

Can't beat a cherry-vanilla Dr. Pepper.

Tom Earp 06-04-2003 11:22 PM

Kevin 06-05-2003 12:42 AM

Try their toasters.

They're also a great place to have fundraisers.

Some stores in my area will allow an organization to staff the place for a day and keep all the tips as a fund raiser.

winnieb 06-05-2003 12:50 AM

We have Sonic all over the place. I could live w/o their burgers. But back in high school they had the best grilled cheese (before they starting using texas toast)-- and crispy tots!! Yum!!
I really like their chicken strips, tots are good---
but no one makes a Cherry Dr Pepper like Sonic does!!!! yummmm!!!!!!

texas*princess 07-12-2003 08:17 PM

I don't know what the deal with Sonic is... lately every single time I go to get a banana split, they are pretty much already melted when I get them :(

I don't think it's *that* hot in Texas!

KillarneyRose 07-12-2003 08:23 PM

I finally got to try Sonic this past week when I was in Memphis and I really liked it! I had some kind of burger, fries with cheese and a yummy limeade with strawberries. I wish we had Sonic up here :(

aRHOgantdeuce22 07-13-2003 04:07 PM

Sonic is my summertime fast food joint. The chicken club toaster sandwich, chili cheese tots, strawberry or cherry limeades, strawberry cheesecake shake, banana shake, Oreo blast.....good stuff....:D :D :D

I was actually just there yesterday and saw a guy carhop on skates......... Pretty funny sight--he didn't fall or anything, but it was kinda funny seeing him roll out to the car.

Kevlar281 07-13-2003 04:21 PM

I try and avoid fast-food as much as possible but I can’t resist a Root 44 Cherry Limeade.

xok85xo 07-13-2003 05:52 PM

oh my..seriously..people you need to stop talking about sonic you are making me crave it..and sad cuz i can't have it!

The1calledTKE 07-13-2003 06:09 PM

Yummy, I think I am going to go get a couple sonic hot dogs, some tots, and a lime aid. :)

dzsaigirl 07-13-2003 06:31 PM

Oh the torture!

I was raised within 3 miles and 4 miles of two different Sonics! (I lived in a HUGE neighborhood)

I love Cherry Limeade and Vanilla Dr Pepper! I also like Cheese Tots and Corn Dogs with mustard:)

And chocolate MALT, not just chocolate shake...ooooh yummy. :D

And so on I think USA or TNT one of those stations, they ALWAYS play Sonic commercials up here in New England, further rubbing it into our wounds that we do NOT have it up here!

We finally got Krispy Kreme, so, God willing, perhaps Sonic will be here before I move from this area (I have already told DH that we WILL be living in a warmer climate, which is code for Sonic Territory :)

docetboy 07-13-2003 07:05 PM

Nothing beats a cherry limeade...though last time I got one they didn't give me a candy cherry in it... :(

Eirene_DGP 07-15-2003 10:43 AM

Yeah Sonic rocks and I love their 1/2 off Tuesdays... The best breakfast thing they have are Apple Taquitos.

You said it, sister! I'll take mine with extra malt, please!!!

I think I need some Sonic jalapeno poppers for lunch today!
(sending you a virtual Cherry Limeade!)

sigmagrrl 07-15-2003 01:07 PM

I will finally get to try it in September!

texas*princess 07-15-2003 01:51 PM

1/2 off Tuesdays?

Well, I've honestly never been there on a Tuesday.. does that just include drinks?

Most all sonics I've visited have 1/2 drinks/slushies between 2-4 weekdays

The1calledTKE 09-03-2003 09:09 PM

Bump!!

Just to make Kate hungry

bethany1982 09-03-2003 09:25 PM

Yeah, I work at Sonic.. we're really busy especially during the summer, and it's SOO hectic! Haha... It takes a while because the people who car hop have to sort out the dozens of drinks waiting on the counter. lol! :D

I see ads for Sonic all the time on TV. I'm in the Chicago area and the closest one is in Champaign, about 2 and a half hours away.
