Anyone who uses the word "frat" or "bro" should have their posts deleted.
This is a message board, not AIM. Head back to south beach, all of you, so when we nuke Miami, I know you'll all be there. |
how rude

Have you noticed the join dates?? I have a feeling you (meaning the legitimate posters) are arguing with sock puppets...

My big brother is my roommate and a close friend.
My big sister is the girl he was seeing when it was time to get me a big sister. I haven't seen her or talked to her in over a year. My little sister lives 4 miles away and I see her every other week or so. Of my two little brothers, one could potentially be my next roommate and I generally see both of them once a week or so. I also acknowledge my extended Greek Family pretty far down the line. I take Greek Family pretty seriously because I think it can be a great aspect of Fraternity & Sorority Life. Yeah, there's a lot of incest, people get adopted, some people hate each other, it gets complicated, whatever. Too many people are quick to say, "oh Greek Families--that's gay and stupid and a waste of time and I'm way too cool to even know who's in my family." These people are missing out. |

I felt isolated from my NM class, so I bonded with my big and the rest of my extended family, who I felt were much more similar to me. I haven't seen my big in a while, since she graduated two years ago, but we were very close when we were both actives. I am extremely close with my little, grandlittle and great grandlittle. |
My SAI big was fabulous!! She became an inactive sister of Alcha Chi Omega the semester before she joined SAI. I think that's what made her such a fabulous big. She gave me the best gifts out of my entire pledge class--everything was hand made and decorated. The final day of big/lil week, she had modge-podged a bottle with magazine adds, filled it with my favorite color of sand, and put a note in the top--calling it my "message in a bottle". Anyway, she was great. We went to dinner all the time, got really close--I called her crying on more than one occasion. The semester after I was initiated, she kind of stopped showing up for meetings and then sent an impromptu email to the chapter anouncing that she was going inactive because she had decided to move back North. She left the chapter without an editor and completely distanced herself from every single sister. I saw her on campus once and she just walked by me and waved. It kind of hurt because we used to be really close. She's at some school in Conneticut and I don't think she has affiliated with SAI or Alpha Chi up there.
Me and my SAI little are getting closer now than before she was initiated. We spend a lot of time together and she went with me to get my last tattoo. I'm really excited to have her as my little because together, I know that we can make our chapter AMAZING!! My Phi Sigma Pi big brother become one of my closest friends. She held me when my long time boyfriend announced that he thought we had just been "casually dating" for 2 years--WHAT A COP OUT! Anyway, she was studying abroad in England this past semester and I can't wait for her to get back!!! I have missed her. My Phi Sigma Pi little is a girl that I went to school with for 6 years before I moved in the 11th grade. We weren't close in school and we're not super close now. She's really shy and that makes it hard for me to warm up to her. She doesn't talk much, which makes it worse. She's going to make a great brother, though. I hope we get closer as she gets more used to the brotherhood. |
My big is pretty much the only sister I still talk to. I never got close to my lil, since she transfered after her first year. That made me sad, so I never took another. :(
|
My APO big was my ex-boyfriend who I never want to see again. :p One of my APO littles was a good friend before her initiation, but I haven't talked to her in a long while (she married an a-hole). My other APO little I haven't heard from since I graduated.
My ASA big works in the same building as I do. We're not close in the sense of talking every day - I think this is more our different personalities than anything else - but we do keep up to date on what's going on in each other's lives. My ASA little dropped off the face of the earth before we graduated, so my little little is basically my little. She's my best friend on the earth. |
My big and I were really close for my first two years. My third year she got another little, graduated, and moved to OK. We haven't really spoken much since then only on birthdays really. I have two "adopted littles". The first is really my twin but she was neglected by our big. She and I are really close. She actually lives with my other adopted little, who just had a terrible big and I just kinda took her in. All three of us see each other like 3 times a week. My real little was actually older than me and graduated before I did. At first I didn't know why she picked me as we're night and day but we just clicked. We're an awesome pair and I wouldn't trade her in for anything. We adore each other. We don't get to see each other as often as we like but we make it a point to email each other every week and get together every month.

Me and my big get along great, he was one of the main people who rushed me all year and really looked out for me since the beginning. He was also one of the only brothers who helped convince my parents to let me pledge and ever since I crossed, we have become extremely close. My pledge name is even his real name, since we act exactly alike, Im like his little prodigy, I hope next year my little is like that

My big and I have stayed pretty close, especially since we've been out of school a long time now and live three hours apart. We didn't pick each other originally, but I think it wound up being a good match.
I have three littles, two of whom I was very close to in school and who I do stay in contact with, but mostly by email. My third little I took my senior year and that was a mistake. I was too caught up in graduating and getting into grad school to be really involved. My big sis is awesome, we just reconnected a couple of years ago, and we partied like (aging) rock stars last homecoming!:D |
The relationship between my big and me is confusing at best. Bigs are supposed to teach their littles, but my big never really got around to doing that. In fact, I hardly ever saw by big during my associate period. Every bit of information I needed I had to get from someone else in the chapter. I hung out more with my grandbig and learned what I had to learn on my own and with the other people in my class. Things got awkward when it turned out we both wanted the same office. That whole thing fell through, but then I was nominated to run against him for another office. I won. That just made things even worse.
Then I got my little, incidentally assigned to me by my big, and that turned out to be an absolute disaster. I taught him pretty well, even the president of my chapter said that. The problem was that he just wasn't interested in the end. He didn't make grades for two quarters in a row and that pretty much spelled his doom. After talking with me, he eventually quit on his own. So yeah, I'm not big on Big/Little relationships at the moment. |
