Pref Round! I was SO excited this morning. I was wearing a black cocktail dress with black heels, and a Tiffany’s necklace, bracelet, and earring steel ball set from an ex-boyfriend (that I was still madly in love with, so I only wore it for special occasions…and now we’re back together, so yay! Anyway.) I was pretty excited for my invites, because I knew that I had Barcelona in the bag. Of course, when PNMs get their hopes up, it usually goes to hell in a hand basket. I had gotten cut from Barcelona, but I still had a full day’s schedule with London and Atlanta. I was pretty disappointed, but I had always kept in the back of my head that I could get cut at any time, so I didn’t cry or anything. I went to London first, and was pretty excited about being here. The girls led us in one by one, and announced “Here is GymnastA” and presented us to the chapter. It was very dark in there and it seemed like the entire room was just lit with candles. There were a few speakers about what London meant to them, and I cried during the round. I was more nervous than anything else! Everyone kept whispering that you had a better chance of getting in if you cried. I actually don’t remember too much, because I was still kind of upset about being cut from Barcelona, and I thought I would get cut from London, too.
I had calmed myself down a lot for Atlanta’s pref party. It was a huge contrast from London’s—everything was white and gold. The sisters were dressed in white dresses and pantsuits, and offered us ginger ale and cute little snacks. I was SO hungry and I didn’t care, I ate anyway! The girls sang songs and talked about how lucky they were to have us here, which surprised me. The whole day, I was so stressed about being cut, that I forgot that all of the chapters that I was at today saw something in me that would make them proud to call me their sister. The girl that preffed me was from the sisterhood round, and was so sweet and nice. She had written me a letter telling me all the positive things that she saw in me and it was SO sweet!
I left to sign my bid card confused. I had loved London all week, but Atlanta had really, really, REALLY impressed me today. I sat there and thought about it for awhile, and ended up signing my bid card as London as my top choice, and Atlanta as my second choice. Then I left for the day and tried not to think about it for the next 18 or so hours…
