We've seen girls literally RUIN their rush with things they post on GC. Word gets out. If women here find out that someone is rushing at their alma mater (or current school), you better believe they will be using the "Find all posts by user" function.

ooooh. sort of like the way we'll be insituting a "What's your MySpace/Facebook address? Oh okay, yeah I'll add you as a friend..." policy during our Fall 2007 to see what the rushees are *really* like. (I've been burned a zillion times by guys that seem normal and classy and turn out to have faked their way into getting a bid)

srmom 06-13-2007 02:34 PM

FSUzeta, My son is rushing at UT Austin this fall too! Although for him, rush has already started and will keep going all summer long!

A bunch of his darling friends (girls and guys) will be rushing at schools all over the place (UT, A&M, TCU, SMU, Tech, LSU, Ole Miss, UGA, Alabama, Wake Forest, Vandie, etc.) I will keep ya'll updated as to their experiences and outcomes. It should be a fun fall and I wish everyone luck!!

FSUZeta 06-13-2007 04:29 PM

srmom, we would love to hear about your sons experience, as well as those of his friends. welcome to greekchat!

JessLynn 06-17-2007 05:18 PM

I'm going to be rushing this fall at a school in the midwest.

KSUViolet06 06-17-2007 07:17 PM

Wake Forest friends will have to wait till the spring! Best of luck to your son!

srmom 06-26-2007 10:13 AM

Same with SMU who has a deferred rush as well.

It should keep me occupied with hearing recruitment stories throughout the fall and winter! I can't wait! :)

I must say, I have gotten quite addicted to reading these tales. I get all nervous and excited to get to the end of the story - and I don't even know any of the people writing on this board!! Am I pathetic or what?:o

srmom 06-26-2007 10:16 AM

OH, and thanks for the good wishes! I will be relieved when it is over and done with for two reasons..

He will know where he has found a home, and he will stop driving back and forth to Austin (which is making me a nervous wreck!)

iheartparis 06-27-2007 02:48 PM

Me, too!

Put me on the list too, if you would! What a great thread. :) I'm a junior transfer hopefully going to COB events in the fall... Does informal recruitment still count?

Also, good luck to everyone rushing at UT of Austin! That's my hometown, so it has a special place in my heart. :D

Hon, that still counts! :D

My friend is rushing at my alma mater, Kent State this fall!

She is a junior transfer, but KSU rush is pretty laid back, so sophs, jrs, and transfers get bids all the time. We've talked about rush alot in the past, but she never went through at her old school because she knew she'd be leaving (she wanted a school with a better fashion design program). Now that's she transfered, and she's got at least 2.5 yrs at Kent, she's finally going to do it. She's given me the ok to do a rush thread for her.

One of my church camp girls is also rushing this fall at Kent State.

She'll be a freshman this fall. She is actually Beth's sister (my friend who rushed last year), so she's an in house legacy to her sorority. She is keeping an open mind though and her sister is making a point not to push her towards her chapter. She also has an aunt who is an alumna of a KSU sorority and is going to send in a rec for her (it's not often that PNMs have recs here so that's a big deal). This girl is kind of shy, so we've been talking about rush a little, so she knows what to expect and is not overwhelmed by all of the conversation in the parties! I'm not sure if she'll have a rush thread, but I'll definitely keep you guys updated.

Note: I'm helping with rush (which starts in mid Sept), so their stories will be posted after recruitment, since I obviously can't be helping with rush at my chapter and talking to PNMs.

Jill1228 07-12-2007 12:15 PM

WOO HOO! We are about a month away from recruitment!

thetaprincess 07-12-2007 06:10 PM

My little sister is rushing at Washington.

rzbckstudent06 07-12-2007 06:17 PM

UGAalum94 07-13-2007 09:37 PM

Especially old long-ago-finished-the-story retro-recruitment threads

Has there ever been a Canadian recruitment thread? I am excited!!

BetteDavisEyes 07-14-2007 12:22 PM

A recruitment thread from a Canadian school? That's one that I'd read.

Jill1228 07-23-2007 12:29 PM

wow the list is short for this year...

TNPhiMu 07-23-2007 12:47 PM

I've got a friend of the family who will be going through recruitment at the University of Tennessee in a few weeks (which reminds me, I need to get on it and write her rec!)

If only.

Does that mean that about the end of Sept, they're going to start coming out of the woodwork, and we'll have ookabillion "recent retro" threads?:p

In a way, I don't blame them, after some of the problems incurred by other PNMs in the past.

Absolutely. I can completely understand holding off posting anything until after rush. We've warned PNMs for the past few years, and I think it may finally be setting in.

tld221 07-23-2007 02:47 PM

exsqueeze me -

- my sister MIGHT be rushing at a school on LI, as i am demanding that she at least TRY greek life out. so if all goes well, you may get another retro thread (or perhaps an NPC/NPHC hybrid remix!)

Please don't give any PNMs the idea of a "recent retro" thread!! Let that idea die once the "current day" recruitment threads start! lol

Tippiechick 07-25-2007 06:40 AM

I, for one, actually enjoy seeing stupid pnms putting their foot in their mouths, revealing to the world that they are shady by the information they give out, and just though generally dumbass-type behavior.

At least it gives people a chance to see what pnms are really like...

Go ahead, girls... Throw caution to the wind.

As always, your honesty is refreshing.

To me, it's a question of how well the story is told or how much I already know about the campus, rather than when the story takes place. I'm not interested in reading the statistics of a ping-pong match of a recruitment story, nor do I want to have to keep a score card to remember the chapter code names. But if you are good story teller, I'd read your recruitment story at the University of Alaska from 2007 or from 1927. I don't care.
