I remember a girl describing her wedding saying something like "We're doing an 'Under the Sea' theme"...and I was thinking: Are you going to dye your hair red and wear a seashell bra and a green coulmn skirt with a flair at the bottom?

Our "theme" was "Hey, we live 800 miles away from most of our family and they're coming in December so let's just get married while they're all going to be here anyway". Neat, huh?:p;)

My wife was in a wedding once where the processional was "The Rainbow Connection" and each of the bridesmaids wore a dress in a different rainbow color.

So, what color was your wife?

ETA: I was going to make a comment about the actual wedding, but there are too many to narrow it down to just one. I think it pretty much makes fun of itself.

uhh. no.

the only theme wedding i would have is maybe a 40's wedding since we love all things 40's, or a disney wedding. and lets be real, those disney weddings are spectacular, especially when you have them at disney world!

hannahgirl 08-26-2007 09:18 PM

got married in August....bridesmaids wore sage green (peridot according to david's bridal) and the roses were bright pink and light pink. my bouquet also had white roses with the bright and light pink. the colors went really well together.

on our invites we did a black and white theme with an accent ribbon of sage green, bright pink, or light pink.....we kept this theme with all the paper stuff too.

AlphaGamDiva 08-28-2007 11:16 AM

i posted my colors, but here is what it all looked like.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...ingpics077.jpg

i had them all pick out their own dresses and it looked great! my sister was my MOH so her's got to be totally different.

another one.....the girl on the bottom left was my guest book girl/hostess.....i had her get a dress, too, in the same color but shorter.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...ingpics076.jpg

my bouquet....i didn't want any white.....i figured the dress was enough! :) that's my granny's hankerchief around the flowers as my something old.

I don't know if this will work....usually WhiteDaisy is my wonderful picture poster :p

Well....it didn't.....so go to the Delta Gamma Forum. Congrats Hannahgirl thread and you'll see some. Here is the link....http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=89369

I got married in August and used a mix of green, pink, and white. The bridesmaids wore "peridot" (David's Bridal version of sage green) and their flowers were bright pink and light pink. My flowers were bright and light pink and white.

no theme in particular. We got married in Las Vegas--that is enough of a theme as it is

Our colors were Navy and Silver

I was just going to post that I think that navy blue and silver will be our wedding colors. It wasn't until after I started talking about it to my mom that she started giggling. I hadn't even thought of the fact that they are the colors of our favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. I had to defend that I didn't choose them because of that!

Or it could be beautiful. I've sort of "decided" upon a red theme, with very light gold accents. My dress itself is a "light gold" (ivory to most sane people) so that's sort of why I went that way. Plus it is easy to get bridesmaids dresses in reds and golds and other fall colors.

OK, so you know how I posted this a while ago? Well, I changed my mind. And my date. We moved it back to 15 Nov. 2008 (ok, so a week!) to get the reception space we *really* wanted rather than getting one we *kinda* wanted. So the hall is in a park, and its got huuuugee windows and a huge fireplace and such, and I made some comment to my mom like, "oh won't the leaves be lovely". And she said to me, "there won't be any, there will probably be a lot of brown and a lot leaves on the ground honey." Didn't think anything of it. And then my bridesminions, mom and I went out to look at dresses, and chose a really awesome deep brown dress from Bill Levkoff. And then it hit me...browns w/ fallish accents! Hot damn! It's easy, it's multicolored, and it fits *perfectly* with the outdoorsyish sort of place we're having. It fits w/ the color of my dress, the flowers i'm going to use will pop out, and all is well in the world! w00t.

SigKapAngel767 10-08-2007 06:25 AM

Bridesminions! Love the word! I called mine my Bridesmaidszillas or my 'zillas haha :)

We had red and white as our colors...here are some pictures to see it all together:

I know I've said this before but I love your cake.

Your 50 rose bouquet HAD to be heavy. I've carried dozen rose ones as a bridesmaid and even that was a little heavy to me.

My colors were burgundy (sp?) and silver. My bridesmaid's wore all different dresses in that color and the junior bridesmaid wore a slightly lighter color. The groomsmen wore burgundy vests and bow-ties. Our favors were light burgundy candles wrapped in silver mesh bags. The linens were silverish and the chair wraps burgundy.

APhi Sailorgirl 11-08-2007 03:15 PM

I just got engaged, but we are hoping for an Oct. 08 wedding. Unfortunately my first two choices are booked for the whole month already. :(

My colors are going to be a chocolate brown and a bordeaux color with hints of dark orange. Since I haven't picked out BM dresses yet, I'm not sure which color I'm going to have them wear.

So pretty!!!! I love fall weddings that use actual fall colors :) A friend of mine did that and had the girls wear the bordeaux color in a floor length strapless dress. It looked awesome in the photos.

We had chocolate cake at our wedding. Everyone loved it! I know it's not the 'traditional' cake but we like chocolate so since it was our wedding we did things our way. I think it's caused a few raised eyebrows down in Fla where my parents are but eh. We were so happy!! People were asking for 2nds!

That looks delicious. I love chocolate. Honestly, I think most weddings are totally mediocre. It's cool to see people doing their own thing and going against tradition a little, even if it raises a few eyebrows.

SWTXBelle 11-09-2007 07:53 AM

Beautiful weddings, AlphaGamDiva, White Daisy and DSTRen! Much prettier than my 80s wedding (sorry bridesmaids - I really thought those pink dresses looked good)

OleMissGlitter 11-09-2007 01:23 PM

Great Ideas! I'm getting married May 17, 2008. So far all is going well. My sister is my only attendant plus my fiance's best friend. Since my friends are so spread out I would rather them come to the wedding than worry about bridesmaid duties. Plus I would probably have to have 20 bridesmaids, which sort of freaked me out!

I really love DSTRen's colors and your wedding cake.

Since this has been such a long engagement (it will be over a year in May when we get hitched) I have been doing everything slowly month by month. My sister and my mom just have to get their dresses and then I'm done. Oh and I will order invitations in January. My color is hydrangea blue since I love blue hydrangeas! :) I'm starting to get very excited!

KSUViolet06 03-28-2008 07:11 PM

bump

One of my friends is getting married and is having some issues picking colors (she's a graphic design major so she has alot of favorites). Any suggestions?

KatieKate1244 03-28-2008 09:20 PM

Lavender and green is pretty. I also saw a navy blue and magenta scheme in an old wedding magazine not too long ago that was really nice.

Hmm...it really sorta depends on when her wedding is. Pinks, oranges, and yellows I think would look great for a summer evening wedding but horrible in the winter. Green and white would be nice for spring/early summer. A maroon/burgundy and a sky blue would look nice for a fall/winter wedding.

Orange and pink can work for the right people.

It's slow at work right now so I'm probably going to spend the rest of my shift thinking about this.

Glitter650 03-31-2008 06:18 PM

I am going with Purple and Green myself.

I"m going for "magical, natural, mid summer's night dream with out the fairies feel" :p :) If I knew how to post pics I'd post my inspiration board. But here is a link that *should get you there* http://bp0.blogger.com/_eqqbSc0vfX4/...ationboard.jpg

Nikki7980 03-31-2008 07:29 PM

My colors would be either white and gold or royal blue and white(in case i marry a Sigma),with some African touches.

We're doing an elegant under the sea theme with dolphin accents. Our colors will be light blues, turquoise, greens, and hints of silver.

deadbear80 03-31-2008 08:39 PM

One of my closest friends is getting married in November (I'm the MOH :) ).

Her colors are Cranberry and Wheat. Us girls are wearing Cranberry dresses with wheat wraps. The wraps definitely make our dresses pop.

Very pretty combination!:)

AKA_Monet 03-31-2008 10:21 PM

For my second wedding ;) (I eloped first, but our parents wanted shindig), I WANTED a Las Vegas type wedding at the Chapel of Happiness with a Black Elvis impersonator and 3-4 motown singers... So when we walk down the aisle, we sway from right to left and my guests would put their hands up and sway, too...

But what I got was:

http://photos.somd.com/data/546/medium/5SedonaH.jpg

Nice... Unfortunately, I wasn't married there... I was married somewhere else in Sedona.

My colors were pearlized luminescent cream-champagne, rose pink and gold with some forest green. I wanted pale pink calle lillies--but they were not trying sell me those options at the time. I wanted buttercream icing cake, but the hotel wanted to charge an outrageous fee to just cut.

When I first read purple and green, I was a bit skeptical. But then I clicked the link and I really really like it! It looks like it's going to be very pretty! :) And your theme idea is wonderful (especially without the fairies bit)!

For my upcoming wedding, we're getting married at the botanical gardens in Athens, so we've decided on chocolate and sage, with accents of blush pink and lavender (but mostly browns and greens). But I'm trying to incorporate those lovely green cymbidium orchids but I just don't know if they'll go... very minimalist in theme but definitely a natural feel since we'll be at the botanical gardens - don't need a lot of greenery and flowers since there's so much already and I wouldn't want to overpower any of that. No real theme, just natural and simple.

I love that cymbidium bouquet! And I really like those new bouquet wraps, be they ribbons or more complicated little "jackets". There are so many cool ideas for them in this new bouquet book we bought!

AKA_Monet, Sedona is one of my favorite places in the world! Did you get married at the Chapel of the Holy Cross? I adore it.

Just like my (bio) little sister! She's getting married next March and is looking for an eggplant/green combination. I kind of miss being engaged myself and choosing colors, dresses and decorations!

RaggedyAnn 04-01-2008 05:14 PM

I originally wanted burgandy and ivory, but they discontinued the dress I picked. I decided on the one at the shop. It was a taupe/mocha/coffee color. It's hard to describe. My flower girl and I wore ivory. I carried Black Magic roses (MOH size, so they weren't so heavy), my MOH carried white roses (BM size) and my neice carried a nose gay. It was a forced open Black Magic rose surrounded by white roses. If I had to say a style, it would be neuvo-Victorian. I had a real corset built into my dress and wore off white lamb skin granny boots.

ISUKappa 04-01-2008 05:48 PM

The husband and I were married in early September, and it was still rather warm out. Our main color was red with accents of fuschia, orange, yellow and silver. The bridesmaids wore red dresses and each carried a tied bouquet in a different color with seeded eucalyptus (red, fuschia, orange and yellow). Mine was a mix of all the four colors and seeded eucalyptus.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5.../DSCF0106s.jpg
(it's hard to differentiate the pink from the red in the photo, but you could see the difference in person)

pinkyphimu 04-02-2008 07:03 PM

our colors are pink and pinker. seriously. i love all shades of pink, so basically, i found the dress that i liked and it happens to come in a raspberry. now, i need to find some other shade of pink that blends nicely. i would have loved to have pastel pink, but my bridesmaids are all so pale, they would have looked dead. 115 more days to go!

AOEforme 07-07-2010 11:18 PM

*** BUMP***

My fiancee and I are trying to get our wedding colors sorted out, so we can coordinate everything throughout the process.

We'd both love to do red (all my bridesmaids look good in it, his favorite flowers are red roses, etc.) but we're having a June wedding and my mother swears up and down doing red in June will ruin the wedding.

What do you guys think?

Drolefille 07-07-2010 11:22 PM

I think it's your wedding and you should use red :D

Why does she think it will ruin the wedding??
