The worst is seeing a joker with XYZ socks and/or shoes on. Last summer, a dude probably in his 50s was wearing a pair of xyz socks, some shorts, a polo shirt and a pair of black church shoes.:D

I doubt he was a neo.:p

But he looked like a damn fool.:D

Actually, I dunno why, but I think that's kinda awesome. I mean this is just from reading what you wrote, but it seems like if I saw someone like that from my org many years from now still showing such neo enthusiasm at that age, I'd laugh, and be embarrassed maybe, but deep inside I'd be pretty happy. I know, sounds weird :)

I guess I forget sometimes how outsiders can view some things about us very differently. I guess that's another thing I'll have to keep in mind never to share anymore.

But just in case anyone didn't know, it's just a reference to this poor anti-harassment mascot in a south park episode (I realized it probably sounded even more messed up to anyone who may not have got the obscure reference :) )

I honestly couldn't tell you the real names of almost anyone in my husband's (IFC) undergrad chapter. No one ever uses anything but their pledge names. I think even some of the guys' families call them by their pledge names at this point ...

haha...now I remember. I love South Park but that is something that even a South Park fan can forget about.

Now...since nicknames and line names should have meaning, what is the meaning as it relates to your organization? Is it because of the panda?

NephewNupe 06-12-2008 01:17 PM

Get off the Neos!

Aight, since no is speaking up for da Neos, with all these Prophytes in da place! Where would the Greek World without us Neos to keep it going! I have been known to double nalia up every now and then, but it's just out of pure love and pride for the frat! I'm sure I will settle down one day, but maybe not...I have been a Mason for years and still probably have the biggest nalia collection around! And it's not a southern thang, because even though I live in the south, I am born in raised in our Nations Kapitol. Get off the Neos! LOL!:)

Senusret I 06-12-2008 01:21 PM

^^^ What high school did you go to?

NephewNupe 06-12-2008 01:28 PM

A proud graduate of Theodore Roosevelt H.S., Go RoughRiders!!

KAPPAtivating 06-13-2008 02:28 AM

You know you're a neo when you spend a lot of energy dissing other organizations other than yours!:p

NephewNupe 06-13-2008 09:30 AM

You know you are a Neo when you find yourself constantly looking at nalia websites for the latest and greatest to add to your collection so youn can stay lettered up at all times. :D

DSTCHAOS 06-13-2008 02:45 PM

Unfortunately, there are nonNeos who spend a lot of time dissing. We call these people "Kappas."

jes kiddin...I have seen old-as-heck members who wear dumb shirts and verbally diss, though. Annoying.

NephewNupe 06-13-2008 03:39 PM

Oh come'on, that was a little hate right there. You don't diss when you just naturally know you are the Kream of the Krop, lol. That's just Kocky Konfidence! And I have gotten waaaay more hate from my partners that are in other frats, I won't say their names (Alphas and Ques, lol) since I became a Nupe, and I never hear any of my brothers dissin' their frats...well, other than Sigma. But I got a lot of respect for Sigma too, because I grew up in DC, 5 mins from their National HQ and they did a LOT in my community.

LMAO whatever hater! Was Gladys Pemberton still in the Business Department when you were there? I graduated in 1997 and I knew her through FBLA.

A lot of my friends from elementary school and junior high ended up at "Rose" -- but they were both probably closed long before you got there (Keene Elementary and Rabaut Junior High).

You know you're a neo when:

*every time one of your LSs calls, you Oop at each other
*even though its been a few months since you crossed, you have to stop yourself from referring to Sorors as Big Sister or your LSs as Pyramids

DID I MENTION THAT I'M A NEO(GUILTY AS CHARGED)

L.O.C.K. 06-19-2008 03:21 AM

you know you're a neo when...

...your apt is decked out in your colors (yes, i still have red, white, and black bath mats)
...you buy clothing you only look at things in your orgs colors
...you want to do EVERYTHING for your organization
...you suddenly realize you have free time
...you wear letters every day...and sometimes change what letters you wear during the middle of the day...or twice...or three times...lol
...when you walk around, your eyes automatically look to see if someone is Greek or not by looking at people with letters on
...you don't shut up about your organization to other people

exot1cdynasty 07-08-2008 10:43 AM

<--has watched every step/stroll video on YouTube for my org.
<--has went to Michael's and bought wooden picture frames, jewelry boxes, etc. & painted letters on them!!

Is this a DC thing? I SWEAR I was the same way! I'm only just now buying less black and yellow/gold/wheat/goldenrod t-shirts LOL

DSTCHAOS 07-08-2008 11:02 AM

You're at a GROWN FOLKS dressed-up affair and you're hopping/strolling. One hop/stroll wasn't enough to make you look young as hell, you're hopping/strolling to EVERYDAMNSONG the DJ plays. You're strolling to Uncle Luke, slow music, Frankie Beverly, T-Pain...anything with a good beat.

And older members try to stop you by telling you to sit your butt down and even find people to dance with you to distract you. You're covered with sweat and it's dripping through your clothes at a GROWN FOLKS dressed-up affair.

You're a spectacle. You look stupid. You look like you can't dance on your own and/or have no social skills. We could blame it on the alcohol but the other tipsy Greeks weren't hopping/strolling.

That is all.

<------ has seen this over the years and most recently a few weeks ago :(

(ETA: I've seen non-Neos and seasoned members jokingly hop/stroll at GROWN FOLKS dressed-up affairs--they weren't the only Greeks joking around so they didn't look dumb--and they knew when to play it off as a joke and get back to mixing and mingling with the GROWN FOLKS.)

Speaking of CUS and youtube.... a long time ago, i once saw a clip of you ladies singing a song at the end of a probate. It was sooooo beautiful. The crowd was like awwwwwww. And so was I.

I have been known to paint frames from CVS, lol....Michael's is too far!

It rhymes with Balpha, Krappa, Schlomega, Gigma, and Byota. :)

This has occurred a few times over the years. Mostly Krappa and Schlomega, if I recall correctly.
