How exciting, the legacy chapters are still in the running! Good luck to her! Are you going to Ohio to help with recruitment?

Is Miami a public school or private? If public, it's interesting to me that they do deferred recruitment as I've only seen it at private schools.

ADqtPiMel, maybe you can provide some insight to me? :)

It is a state school. They used to do fall recruitment - not sure when it changed over.

It's more common in the Northeast to defer recruitment for public schools. Examples of public schools with deferred recruitment include Maryland, Delaware, UVA, VA Tech, a bunch of smaller state schools in PA, some SUNY schools.

Sister Havana 01-12-2007 02:11 PM

Indiana also has deferred recruitment.

Munchkin03 01-12-2007 10:44 PM

I also remember hearing that a lot of the schools that do deferred allow upperclasswomen to go through "informal" during the fall--that's how we did it, at least...

At Maryland you have to have 12 credits to join a GLO. Freshmen with 12 or more AP credits are allowed to pledge, but the vast majority of fall semester new members are sophomores. Juniors do pledge but they are few in the fall, just like freshmen.

Another article about recruitment at Miami of Ohio

http://media.www.miamistudent.net/me...epublisher.com

Highlights ... 968 women attended open house round
and only 60 people can be in the chapter suite at one time - due to fire codes

Yes that rule drives me crazy because Alpha Phi and some other groups (AXO, ADPI, ZTA, DDD, AOPI come to mind) have very large suites that could definitely hold more sisters. Although I do understand they need to make it more even for everyone, ie its not far if sorority XYZ can only have 60 but A Phi can have 80. However on slid side our suite is larger so it can look empty and cause are party not to look as good.

Can't wait to hear bid day results on Monday!

Virginia Tech does that too!

texas*princess 01-13-2007 09:28 PM

i can't wait to hear how this story turns out :)

tld221 01-13-2007 11:57 PM

these rush threads are fun! considering NPHC does intake differently and all. only thing is, NPC has 26 orgs, and reading these, i have the slightest idea as to which way the rushee is going to go. and since i dont know anyone personally in any of these orgs... cant even go on "the XYZ i know" or "my ABC friend."

my school only had 7 sororities and that drove me crazy enough my freshman year.

i wanna hear who she ends up with!

PhoenixAzul 01-14-2007 12:22 AM

soon soon soon! Monday is bid day :). I hope she's having a fabulous pref weekend. Too bad weather's been kinda crap this weekend :(.

Stef the Pef 01-14-2007 05:20 AM

Good luck to her! No more news yet?

ADqtPiMel 01-14-2007 11:46 AM

Sorry, I'm in Ohio and haven't been able to post. She was dropped by two after second round and will be returning to purple, pink and gray for preference today.

She will not be returning to:
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Xi Delta
Zeta Tau Alpha
Chi Omega

I'll try to post tomorrow night.

tinydancer 01-14-2007 03:20 PM

ASUADPi 01-14-2007 11:16 PM

Yeah ADPi is still in the running !!!!

(I figured this out by going back and seeing who she didn't go back to).

Stef the Pef 01-15-2007 04:36 AM

Congrats to your sister! I hope she finds her favorite out of those three.

texas*princess 01-15-2007 08:03 PM

news?

kk_bama 01-15-2007 08:38 PM

ADPi, Gamma Phi and Theta -- three very strong groups, if I do say so myself! ;)

Can't wait to see where she ends up!

ADqtPiMel 01-15-2007 09:25 PM

I just got back from Oxford...my sister was thrilled and excited to receive a bid from her top choice, purple, also known as...

Kappa Alpha Theta!

Obviously everyone has figured out that pink was ADPi and gray was Gamma Phi. She loved all of her choices but knew in the end that Theta was right for her. My mom (a Theta) is absolutely ecstatic! Of her best friends, three went DZ and one went Alpha Phi.

I'm pretty sure quota was 50 (Aphigal can confirm). ADPi took 53, and I'm not sure of any other results yet.
