It may or may not be a tradition for some fraterntieis to do so. (guard the entrances)

Do people just bust in at random times?
Not when you have someone guarding the entrances.

No, but that's because we have guards. We have locks on the doors, however they're only combination locks, that is, you press a certain number on the door and it lets you in. You never know when some Pi Phi will come in to let us know about a fundraiser they're having. It's just for the best. We'd like to remain secretive.

It makes sense I guess. I'm just surprised that you have the same security issues at a house. Not that it shocks me that you give out the combination to girls or anything ;)

I have a vague inclination that the secretive and sacred nature of sorority ritual means squat to the United States secret service.

To my knowledge, this would be the best explanation.

I think you could incorporate the Secret Service into the ritual. They would make good candle holders, etc. cuz they are used to standing so still. They wouldn't get wax on the carpet!

I know and used to see Jenna Bush all the time when she was still at Texas....you never really noticed the SS. Same with Pierce Bush.....who is down here now. They have agents down here but you really don't notice they are there. As far as I know, the SS never really went into the Theta house.

Considering that one of the Bush daughters got her purse stolen at an airport in some South American country, I don't think Theta would have to be worried about the SS paying attention during Ritual.

Not noticing the Secret Service is supposed to be considered a plus.

Yeah it is. Its even better when you are with them in a situation where you would otherwise probobly get into trouble......then the SS steps in and handles it all for you. Happened on 6th street on more than one occasion.

I was just thinking this same thing.

They probably had a way to secure the house without going inside. In my extremely limited experience, they are pretty invested in trying to give the kids as normal a college experience as possible. But if they thought it was necessary to be in the room during ritual, that's where they would go, come hell or high water. Given that their colleagues may be in the room when classified national security matters are being discussed, I don't think that they would view sorority secrets as particularly sensitive information. No disrespect to Theta, but ritual is pretty small potatoes in the context of, say, nuclear launch codes.
