I LOVE Iron Chef America. Morimoto is probably my favorite.

Drolefille 01-31-2007 10:18 AM

ICA is da Bomb diggity.

Who saw the Flying Knives challenge? (Even though Knives weren't flying... I think that was what it was called) It was sooo cool :) But I've never been to a ..... whatever type of Hawai'ian restaurant that is.

Indeed. Giada is hot, too.

Sure she is, if you like seeing every tooth in someone's mouth everytime they smile.

Drolefille 01-31-2007 02:57 PM

Her HEAD IS HUGE.

I can't get past it. It bothers me all the time.

SigKapSweetie 01-31-2007 03:29 PM

You girls can be so mean...that's part of what I love about you!

Drolefille 01-31-2007 03:44 PM

Well I wouldn't say it to her face... I'd smile and then turn around and mouth "Her HEAD IS HUGE!"

BetteDavisEyes 02-03-2007 02:16 PM

I like some of the specials that they put together like in the summer, they focus on BBQ & grilling. Those are usually pretty good except for the one lapse in judgment when they actually aired The Roadkill Cook Off. Gross!

Right back at you, your lj updates about your lectures have me rolling consistently. There needs to be a tv show about med students still in the middle of the academic portion of med school, and it needs to star you and your buddies. I would be glued to every episode.

BetteDavisEyes 03-04-2007 07:57 PM

I haven't been updating mine a lot lately. Too busy...of course, there is always time for some GC love!

BetteDavisEyes 03-25-2007 12:07 PM

Have you guys heard about the first ever "Food Network Awards?"

I believe it was already taped but hasn't been aired yet. I'm trying to find info on it but can't seem to just yet.

Drolefille 03-25-2007 01:05 PM

It's on the 8th I think. I'm excited :D
Also, I just bought Alton Brown's Cookbook- I'm Just Here for the Food 2.0
I <3 it!

Drolefille 04-14-2007 01:29 PM

So, Food Network Awards, tomorrow night (clearly NOT the eighth.. doh) Who is going to be watching :D

I love me some Ming Tsai!
Even though she has great recipes, I could do without the skinny bitch with the tapeworm (Giada). Mr. 1228 loves her show--I think the low cut tops may have something to do with it

LOVE me some Paula Deen! She friggin rocks!
Also like: Alton Brown, Iron Chef America, Throwdown, Tyler Florence (yummy!), Mario Batali

I can't stand Rachel Ray and her EVOO

Even I am starting to hate RR and I'm a fangirl. SRSLY. Stop with the sponsorship deals, that cheesy evil grin on the cracker boxes is freaking me out!
Lately I've been all about the Food Network Challenges and I caught some Nigella the other day. You all need to watch Nigella Lawson, I think she's the best they've got for shows right now.

Drolefille 04-14-2007 08:03 PM

She should be off the boxes now (unless you have old crackers) but yeah I agree.

She's signed on to do dunkin donuts commercials! I would rather put a fork in my eyes than watch those. I love the dunkies commercials right now. And 2005 my favourite was (emphasis on was) the Johnny Damon advert. Stinking traitor.

Drolefille 04-14-2007 10:05 PM

We don't have any Dunkin Donuts around here so I don't have to listen to them :p

abaici 04-15-2007 02:43 PM

LOVE:Paula Deen, Giada (aka Little Big Head--she is annoying, but the food is delish), Barefoot Contessa, and Throwdown (I feel really good watching Flay go down week after week-LOL)

Hate:Rachael Ray, Semi Homemade and that lady

Drolefille 04-15-2007 04:18 PM

I have to add Dinner Impossible to my list of likes. That guy can be a prick, but I'm always entertained and he doesn't always succeed either.

BetteDavisEyes 05-18-2007 09:55 AM

I really can't stand Showdown with Bobby Flay. At all. Mike loves all Bobby Flay shows but this one is just really stupid IMO.

Drolefille 06-04-2007 12:53 PM

I <3 Next Food Network Star. New season started last night :)

BaylorBean 06-04-2007 01:00 PM

One of the women on there is a HS friend of one of my Houston Sister's husband.

I saw a battle a little while ago - Morimoto vs. Tim Love (from Texas)

The secret ingrediant was chili peppers. Love was, once again, from Texas...Morimoto said in his presentation that he'd NEVER cooked with chilis before. Final score? Love won...BY ONE POINT. I totally don't even consider that a victory. Your specialty against something the Iron Chef has never used before, and you only win by one point? Pathetic.

OneTimeSBX 06-04-2007 01:06 PM

i am an Iron Chef fanatic...can't stand Batali though...if i have to see him wear those red clogs one more time...also love Paula Deen. she is sooo greedy! i get hungry watching her fix food because she just oohs and aahs the whole time she's cooking! i get excited with her and usually end up eating while watching her.

And that is why I gained 10 pounds watching her show last summer when she was doing those yummy BBQ shows.

I was sooooo mad about that! I love Morimoto. I thought it was so cute though when he introduced his dishes and held up the peppers to show the ones he used.

Drolefille 06-05-2007 06:40 PM

How did I never know that Bobby Flay was in an episode of L&O:SVU?

And was date raped no less?

Pomegranate seeds are fun to throw against walls. When you get tired of eating them.

What's with the Nigella hate? She's great (and she's English which is a double whammy for me!)

Wolfman 06-20-2007 06:31 AM

Giada is talented, photogenic, is knowledgeable about food, and engaging. And I think she gets a lot of mileage out of her cleavage. It's overkill sometimes.I'm not hatin' though;I've been transfixed an episode or two.

The best show is Iron Chef though. Alton Brown is man!

Drolefille 06-20-2007 01:04 PM

Didn't know that either! (Well that she was his fiancé)

OneTimeSBX 06-20-2007 01:16 PM

The nice thing about the type of foods REAL chefs make is that it's usually so rich, that you only WANT a little bit. That's why so many European women are skinny - they eat really rich foods all the time, but in small portions. We eat more bland foods (that are ususally empty calorie packed), and eat bigger portions.

OneTimeSBX 06-20-2007 01:49 PM

so so true. my fiance is a sous chef at a country club and he brings all this expensive, rich stuff home that sometimes never gets eaten. well, these days everything is gone since im 5 months pregnant, but before then i maintained my weight pretty good!

I've found that all the restaurants I've eaten at in Germany, Austria, France, etc. the portions were still huge-and I always thought they wouldn't be since thats the rumor. Its one thing to make smaller portions for yourself at home, but the restaurants are still a bit out of control in my experience. When I was in Germany for a few weeks, I'd eat my lunches at a local meat shop that also served a deli lunch, and the lunch special was big enough for two people! If it weren't for the fact that I walked to & from work every day I think I would've gained 10 lbs. ;)

Drolefille 06-21-2007 09:31 AM

Italy was the same way. I got STUFFED at every meal particularly with getting pasta first then your protein. (Of course the wine helped with everyone else too I'm sure)
