While listening to the BET Late Night Tribute in the background...

My Fav Levert song: Cassanova, ABC 123, Just Cooling, Forever Love

Fav Gerald song: Private Line, School Me (which is on BET now), Baby Hold On To Me, I'll Give Everything

And one of my favorite is when he sang with The Rude Boys: It's Written All Over Your Face (still love that song).

I'm in shock over Gerald Levert. When my friends told me last night----I thought they were joking until I went on line.

TonyB06 11-11-2006 09:53 AM

Condolences to the Levert family; may God grant you His peace in these difficult days.

Gerald Levert always repped Cleveland, hard. That city (his hometown) might need a sedative behind this. Perhaps the lesson for those of us who remain is to value who we have while we have them. Let the pettiness go, because you truly don't know when you might roll up out of here.

Rest easy, G.

A Gerald memory...

I waited in line to meet Gerald at Manifest Records back in like 2001 or so....he was only scheduled to be there for 2 or 3 hours but the line was still really long after that time had passed...his people kept trying to get him to leave but he refused to until he signed everyone's cd or whatever and he took pics....he was sooo damn nice and humble at the time....I still have that autograph.....who knew it would ever really mean so much so soon....G's music helped get me though basic training (and I needed all the help I could get..lol..).....life is short friends, lets remember to live it to the fullest....

neosoul 11-11-2006 06:38 PM

*gasp* say it aint so... Gerald....

Conskeeted7 11-12-2006 11:01 AM

I just heard this yesterday and still can't believe it! Gerald was one of my favorite singers. My hubby proposed to me with the LSG song "Look how long we've been around" playing in the background and that was our first dance at our wedding. I also got to interview Gerald backstage for my high school paper. He was a sweetheard. I am just totally shocked. No one saw this coming!

Jill1228 11-12-2006 04:05 PM

OMG I didn't know until I saw this! I loved Gerald Levert :(
Gonna crank up Casanova in his memory today

I am just stunned

DSTCHAOS 11-12-2006 06:12 PM

BET has been showing his cameo appearances all day from Bobby Jones Gospel to The Parkers.

:(

AKA2D '91 11-12-2006 06:17 PM

BETJ had specials on yesterday, unfortunately I missed them. :( They MUST show them again this week.

ETA: I know Jack Palance passed away, but I really got it in 3s. Ed, Gerald, and yesterday a soror's husband who was only 43. He was our church's minister of music. :( :(

jitterbug13 11-12-2006 09:19 PM

I also know that BET did a tribute to him during their Late (formely Midnight Love) show and that TVOne showed his apperance on the Tom Joyner Sky Show a few months ago.

Turn on your radio

Monique is hosting a really nice tribute to G-Bear on Michael Baisden's show right now.

rho4life 11-13-2006 04:55 PM

The first time a boy ever asked me to dance, it was to one of his songs. :) He'll always have a special place in my heart.

Krisco 11-14-2006 01:14 PM

Gerald Levert, seemed to be a genuine man to those that actually knew and loved him for who he was.

And for us fans, the voice, the grinding, the chubbiness is what we loved about this man. He made women of all ages know what a grown ass man was. Love U G!

We gotta take a stand against these health disparities, because ultimately WE---US-----are losing....

MzJ25 11-14-2006 01:47 PM

I loved Gerald LeVert also. Some of my all time fav jams are from him.
He always seemed to be an extremely nice person and you never heard anything about him being involved in any mess. You never saw him in any these magazines acting a fool. Very sad loss for the music industry and most definatley for the African American Community.:( :(

Funeral arrangements?

Has anyone heard anything about this? I still can't believe he's gone. I was a true fan of his.

I got an email about the arrangements but all it said was that the funeral will be held in Cleveland in the Convention Center. Here's the link.

I've seen him in concert when he was performing with his super group, LSG. had a great time. Plus, they did all their songs in less than 1 hour and 10 minutes ( I'm not kidding). Gearld, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill managed to get all their hit songs within that time frame.

thanks for the memories and for making some great songs, Gearld. R.I.P.:(
