2. REK, since you mentioned geography, I'd like a Southerner's perspective on Maryland/DC/NoVa. Are they the South since they are south of the Mason-Dixon? |
"gay" is a noun. Anchorman say so. You are a gay for even questioning this.
Maryland=Not cool. Like, at all. NoVa- some nice parts, I enjoy some of it, some of the people do suck, however. DC- I love it. Not southern, but still, great town. |

Yeah, cities like New Orleans, Charleston, Savannah, Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville...none of those have ANY culture to offer. You're joking right? Aw shucks, I guess we'll just keep it to ourselves. Amazing golf, beautiful women, great weather, beaches and food, yeah, its tough down here. Enjoy winter.

I also agree with what Shinerbock said...and also....you're an idiot. You need to get out more. |
I get out plenty, thanks. Caltech alone makes LA more important that most other cities in the US. Then add in tremendous cultural diversity and economic importance, and you've got something, even with crime (which is of historical significance in LA) you have an awesome city. As a socialist myself, I find LA somewhat lacking in politics, but if you move down to San Fransisco, there you have a glorious city.
I love the snow, and the winter; I'm not terribly fond of tanning, and our accents trump hideous drawls any day. Keep the red states, though I find it ironic that they receive large amounts of tax-derived federal aid, and consistently have the most anti-tax politicians, at least when they speak publicly. EDIT: New Orleans isn't a bad city. I just couldn't live there year-round. |
Haha, I think he's serious.

Its cold. Great weather is SD, not SF. Also, Atlanta is rarely above 95. The humidity is high, yeah, but we also have a lot of sunny days and comfortable weather.

You are miserable. And to JessSigKap I have been through all three of those areas and while they do have some nice parts there are also some nasty sections. DC is a nice city until you see all the hobos sitting on top of the steam grates on the side of the street. NoVa has some real nice areas that arent too suburbanized. |

Cal Tech? It's in Pasadena and has no real influence on the L.A. citizenry at all. That's like me saying that Pepperdine University in Malibu make L.A. a great city. Really, if all the great universities in the world were clustered in L.A. that alone would not make it a great city. I may be a "Yankee," but half of my family is from the south. There is plenty of unique culture there that you can't find in Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, New York or Boston. And c'mon, everyone knows Florida is not the south. |

I concur on LA. I was actually pretty excited about it my first time there (I was considering abandoning my legal hopes and going to music production school at Belmont---dodged a bullet...) but was stunned at how little there is in LA. Other than narcissism, theres not much LA can claim as its own. For a place with such little power they sure are fond of themselves.
My favorite parts of California were San Diego and Mavericks. I actually thought San Francisco was a pretty interesting place, but I'd probably jump into the bay if I had to live with all the idiotic residents. |
