CUGreekgirl...I bought these oriental flavored chewing sticks....I have a gum addiction and I work with people alot and I have an obsession with fresh breathe so I bought the peppermint ones...a veteran cleanser told me to chew on the lemon peels but that seems to intense for me....are you doing the salt water flushes?? |
I haven't done the salt water flush yet. I plan on doing that in the morning, since today was my first day on MC. I think I'll be able to do it, i'm pretty good at swallowing gross stuff (ok, that really didn't sound good, but you know what i mean)
|
Last time I checked, this was the CHIT-CHAT forum on a PUBLIC message board, not the "ohhsoflydelta" show. Are we having security issues, that maybe someone could answer a question with a valid answer besides you??
Plus, I think it's important for her to know that the "need to chew" could be a symptom of a serious problem. |

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! |
that salt water flush was the hardest thing for me. I did it the first day, but after that I would just gag from the smell. do those laxative teas work just as well?
|
damn...doctor, know it all, Queen of all things greek,...how does she find the time??? Me... security issues...comical...
ANYWAY the tea isn't working as good as I know the salt water can but that salt mixture is the antichrist...I invested in a couple alternatives that I'm going to try...I talked to a pharmacist friend who gave me some ideas...I also believe that I will switch to the ceyenne capsules cuz the powder is giving me heartburn something awful....weight stayed pretty much the same but I didn't drink enough water today.....my hair stylist said my skin looked "refreshed" so I guess thats a good thing...I'm trying to decide if I should stop until Monday so I can use an alt to the salt water and the capsules or just to keep going.... |
OOhsoflyDELTA#9, so how's your cleanse going?? my boyfriend and i are going to the store tomorrow to pick up the items needed to start our journey cleansing out our bodies. :D
|
Mine isn't going so hot. I started it Saturday, but slipped and ate some french fries with the kids I babysit for. Sunday was successful and so was yesterday. Last night I passed a kidney stone... at least I think thats what it was? I've never had one before but thats what it felt like. So this morning I didn't do the SWF and I drank OJ cause I needed energy after not having any sleep. THe rest of today I'm drinking the lemonade. The salt water flush isn't all that bad if you drink it slightly warmed. Just think of it as Chicken broth without the chicken. Drinking it at room temp was awful!

Sorry I haven't been around but my daughter has scarlet fever and has been in the hospital....she's getting better now (thank God) but I totally discarded the cleanse while she was in the hospital...so I'm hopeing to start back up by Thursday...I actually miss it and haven't been eating a whole bunch and I haven't gained the weight back..I'm making some minor changes once I start back...like using the capsules and this saline laxative instead of sea salt.....congrats to those moving forward and good luck to those beginning.....

This "cleanse" will do nothing but put your body into starvation mode! The weight you lose will be water weight and the longer you do it, the more muscle you will lose! In the end this only SLOWS your metabolism. Take adpiucf's advise and trash the crap, not starve yourself. (That IS what you're doing.) |
I'm happy to hear that your daughter is doing better- I'll keep you guys in my thoughts!

Isn't this kinda like when anorexic people are recovering and they gain a ton of weight and then can't lose it? It's cuz their calorie intake goes down and slows their metabolism. |
Good luck getting back on track OhSoFlyDelta. :) You know your body better than anyone else.

I'm in day 2 right now. I put WAY TOO MUCH cayenne in yestyerday, so I could only stand to drink 1 nalgene bottle's worth, but today's drink is much more bearable. I chugged about 32oz of sea salt earlier which wasn't near as bad as I anticipated. I mistakenly did iodized salt last night and it made me want to puke. I've been using some herbal lax tea with no results whatsoever. My digestive system is a wreck so I'm using this to recalibrate it all....at 145lbs I'm not exactly concerned about weight loss. As long as I keep my mind off of it, I'm not too bothered by doing it. Again though, it's only day 2. Wish me luck.
|
good luck....I still do mini cleasnses(sp) all the time...you're good if that sea salt doesn't bother you...I never mastered drinking that mess!!
|
Day 4 went pretty easily....and I had to sit in a really good (ie really unhealthy) pizza shop and wait for a pizza for 20 minutes to take to my girlfriend where I sat beside her to watch her eat....I figure if I can not be bothered with that sort of temptation, I can make it through just about anything.
I feel a little different....my thoughts seem clearer.....I feel in some ways like I felt once I completely gave up smoking.....I have a funny system of just making habits out of things....such as I made a habit out of not smoking....I've made a habit of not eating. It's not been too hard to do, just tell myself I'm not going to eat, and I don't. The lemonade drink is pretty good....depending upon how much cayenne I put in. I've not been exercising enough like I should....I need to do that more to break up the toxins & get them flowing. I also don't feel like the salt water flsuh is doing its job. I chug a nalgene bottle's worth of warm water & sea salt, plus an herbal laxative tea the night before but it's not quite been doing the actual "flush" part all that great. Anyway....that's my story up to day 4. Overall though, I am feeling better....whether its mental, I cannot be sure....but it's real enough to enjoy & to inspire better eating habits. My goal is to quit drinking soda altogether once the scheme is over. -Cory |

Days 5-10 went great...I started doubling and tripling the amount of cayenne pepper once I got used to it...I actually had gotten to where I needed it. Afterwards, edging back into eating went great. It was funny how excited I got to eat the liquid from my veggie soup...not even the veggies.
Everyone who doesn't know anything about it tells me how bad it is for me....but I think it was a great experience....I felt clearer mentally....It was a good incentive to eat better....and i have...also, my digestive system functions a little better....the details I will not go into. I highly rec it....not eating really isn't that hard....it was hard the first few hours but it was mostly because i was focused on how i wouldn't be able to eat thereafter. since then, i eat mostly organic, low sodium, high fiber, low fat food....and while it's expensive....it's less expensive than eating out so i'm really saving a fair amount of money. cory |
I will be starting this on Sunday, not to lose weight, (though I welcome the weight loss), but to clear my sytem of toxins. I'll be doing it for 14 days. I cant believe people last on this for 40 days!
ETA I thought about getting a colonic, but I was told: "Any kind of fast or cleanse is going to have more than one benefit. Getting your colon cleansed only treats one thing...your colon. A fast/cleanse helps to detox the entire body. It helps to clean the inner organs as well as the blood. Gets rid of waste in the colon as well as hardened waste in the joints, blood, etc. This give the body the opportunity to replace old cells with new regenerative cells. Additionally, a fast/cleanse also gives the inside of the body a chance to rest and recooperate. Not fasting/cleansing is like the engine of your car running forever without ever turning the engine off to give it a rest." |
Let me start off by saying that we are each entitled to do with our bodies as we please. This is not a judgment, just an observation and sharing of experience.
"Cleansing" your colon or body through a restricted calorie, restricted nutrient "diet" program is not necessary. You liver filters out toxins from your blood and organs. Your kidneys process and remove waste. Your colon and digestive system is where food products are digested and eliminated. While many people may have used these programs without noticeable harm, there are several things to think about when entertaining the idea. - restricting calories below 1200 per day (or below your basal caloric needs just to wake up and breathe) can cause your metabolism to slow down in response to a "starvation" reaction. When the body senses that calories are at a minimum, it will become more efficient at keeping weight on to protect vital organs. A few days may not screw up your metabolism, but longer periods of reduced caloric intake can and will. - consuming large quantities of lemonaid or highly acidic foods/beverages can wreak havoc on your esophagus and stomach. You can suffer episodic and perhaps chronic problems with heartburn and gastric reflux. - it is imperative to maintain nutrient levels, even if you are changing your dietary intake for a few days. - taking laxatives and diuretics can mess up your electrolytes and potassium levels, causing fatigue, fainting, even heart failure. - any weight loss will be mostly due to dehydration and thus will not permanent. Remember that to lose one pound, you must burn 3500 calories. - if you have any health problems, please talk to your doctor first. Thyroid, endocrine, and cardiac issues can be exacerbated by extreme changes in your daily diet. I am not a professional, but have much experience meeting with nutritionists and physicians. Please be careful. |
