Bright kid. Lucky star.

You must be so proud! Congrats to your son.

Thanks, all.

We are proud of him.

One of the young women (and her husband) who performed in HS with our oldest daughter is making a reasonable living doing cruises. Another woman (former Miss Teen Colorado) from her class did Disney cruises and then several Disney theme parks and is now doing well in New York.

I think the son is doing very well considering that he just graduated from college.

Great kid.

Again, thanks for all of the good thoughts and wishes -- they're really appreciated.

Sounds like he's off to a great start, especially considering the odds. Congrats!

That's great news! I hope he will eventually get to do another show here in my area.

I know he would love to. He had a great time in Ft. Worth, and gets together with some of the other cast members from that show in NYC with some regularity.

DeltAlum 10-07-2006 01:54 AM

I keep shaking my head is disbelief.

Besides the two things above, he got a call today from a casting agency for whom he auditioned a few weeks ago asking if he was "available" to come back and audition for Spamalot. He's not sure if it's for the NYC show, a national tour or the Las Vegas production -- but you can be sure he will make himself available -- even though the audition is the day after he was returning to Oklahoma and then home for the Millie production.

Although there is no guarantee he will be cast, if he gets the job, it could conflict with either or both Millie and the cruise line, but apparantely the Equity contract says that he can break any previous contract or agreement for a better gig.

So, we're holding our breath.

Thanks! The vibes may be working.

He went to the callback, they had him sing two songs instead of one and had him read for a specific part with another actor -- and then asked him back for the invitation only dance auditions.

Again, this may go nowhere, but we think it's pretty good for someone who has only been in New York a couple of months.

Still don't know if the part (if he gets it) would be for NY, Vegas or the national tour this year.

Keep the good thoughts coming!!!

Wow, he seems to be having incredible luck with casting so far! He must be very talented! You should be proud. :)

AlphaFrog 10-19-2006 07:48 AM

OMG...he could be rubbing elbows shortly with ERIC IDLE!!!!

Woohoo!! Tell him to tell Eric I said "Hi".;) ;)

It's poetic justice.

The Holy Grail movie was a huge favorite of our kids, and it seemed like they were quoting it around the dinner table for years.

If he gets the part, he won't have many lines to learn.

Silly English K-nig-ht.

DeltAlum 10-23-2006 01:38 PM

OK. The second cruise fell through. The current guy resigned for an additional six months.

So, the casting guy is trying to get him on Europen cruise instead.

Poor baby.

No news yet on Spamalot.

At the moment, he's sleeping on a friends couch in Queens because someone who a young woman friend had sublet her room to was going to back out, but decided to come back after all. In the interim she had offered it to son since he didn't have a place to stay after planning to be back in OKC and here before the Spamalot people called which forced him to stay in the city.

Poor baby.

I don't know how these kids do it, but it'll probably give me an ulcer.

You mean, he'd be forced to hang out in the Mediterranean at the French and Italian Rivieras and travel around the Greek Isles?? Oh, TEH HORROR!!!

Yeah, and also up into Germany, Russia, Denmark, Oslo, Helsinki, Stockholm and others on same ship/different cruises.

Think I'll stow away in his luggage.

DeltAlum 10-26-2006 08:28 PM

OK, an update.

The dance call for Spamalot was today and he was cut.

Guess he'll just have to do Millie and the cruise.

Poor baby.

He's obviously not happy, but understands that it was impressive that he got that far along given his age and background.

And he still has the other two deals.

Thanks for the good thoughts, though.

Peaches-n-Cream 10-30-2006 03:37 PM

Too bad about Spamalot, but everything seems to be going quite well for him. I think he will have a very successful career ahead of him. Best wishes. :)
