Y'all, I don't think that Ring the Alarm is about Jay-Z. I mean, it could be the optimist in me because I like them together, but I would HOPE that Beyonce knows her worth. She can have nearly ANYONE in the world and I doubt (hope) that she wouldn't stay with Jay-Z after he cheated on her, let alone MAKE A SONG documenting it. :eek: She would be embarassing herself and showing her desperation and lameness with a move like that.

I'm not saying that it isn't true, but I find it highly unlikely.

She could be talking about a friend or family member going through something similar. You know sometimes when your girl is in pain, you can feel it like you're going through it too. It could be that. I have to agree that she would really be playing herself by making a song about her own situation.

Justin Timberlake admits his role in the 2004 Superbowl wardrobe malfunction. Timberlake was the one who ripped open Janet Jackson’s top during their music performance, but it was Janet who suffered because of the fiasco. Timberlake went on with his hot career, and now he is back promoting a new CD, FutureSex/LoveSounds, that is coming out in September. At the time of the incident, Timberlake turned his back on Janet and he let her take the blame. Timberlake now admits he made a mistake and he left Janet hanging. He says he regrets his silence during the scandal. He says he now realizes that it was unfair for Janet to take all the blame. So why was Janet singled out? Timberlake says race played a big factor. Janet is still being punished for that scandal. MTV is still not supporting her video, and she will not be performing at their Video Music Awards. Meanwhile, Timberlake will be performing, and his latest video is played in heavy rotation. Justin knew what was going on. The wardrobe malfunction was a publicity stunt that went haywire. Right now, he has an album to promote and he doesn’t want people to be mad at him. But Justin, you should have spoken up when it happened. Janet also has an album coming out. I wonder how they both will do.

Let’s meet the kids! After dating for a few short weeks, Eddie Murphy and Mel B of the Spice Girls are bringing their children together. Eddie and Mel are in love, and word has it a wedding is being planned. Eddie and Mel recently took their kids on a family outing to Disney. Speaking of the CW Network, is Actress Jill Marie Jones returning to Girlfriends? Jones decided not to return for a new season when she realized she would have to take a pay cut. Jones told them to take this job and shove it. She is now concentrating on a movie career. How will the show go on without the character of “Toni Childs?” Sources say she may be off the canvas, but her character’s spirit will remain with the show.

At the movies this week, it’s Idlewild with Andre 3000, Antwan Patton (Big Boi), Patti LaBelle, Liza Minnelli, Ben Vereen, Macy Gray, Cicely Tyson, Ving Rhames and Terrence Howard. The musical is set in a speakeasy with lots of singing, dancing and big production numbers.

Simon Cowell of American Idol Fame continues his dominance over TV. This summer, he gave us the hit NBC reality show America’s Got Talent. And now, for the fall, he gives us Celebrity Duets. Celebrity Duets will air on FOX. Wayne Brady will be hosting, and Little Richard and Marie Osmond will appear as two of the judges. Celebrity Duets will pair real singers with non-singing celebrities. Some of the Singers include Patti LaBelle, Brian McKnight, Chaka Khan, James Ingram, Smokey Robinson and Aaron Neville. Some of the non-singing celebrities include Alfonso Ribeiro (“Carlton” from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Lucy Lawless (Zena, Warrior Princess) and Actress Lea Thompson (Back to the Future). The show kicks off on August 29th.

Toni Braxton kicked off her Las Vegas revue with bad reviews. One critic stated that watching her show reminded him of a train wreck. They stated she was too rigid with her choreography and you couldn’t understand her singing because she mumbles when she sings (How true). They say despite her likeable personality, her Las Vegas show was a wreck. Spokespeople for Braxton blasted the early reviews stating they need to give the show a chance. It’s just getting off the ground. Toni has been mumbling for years. I like her, but it is annoying when you can’t understand what the people are saying.

Oprah Winfrey will be helping her new Protégé Rachel Ray when she kicks off her new talk show on September 18th. Ray is best known for her cookbooks and her highly rated shows on the Food Network. Oprah, an executive producer for the new show, will appear as a guest.

Gayle King would be nice....I just wanna be close to Oprah’s orbit.....Rosie O’Donnell in a recent television interview about who should replace Star Jones. Rosie is replacing Meredith Vieira, who left for The Today Show. Rosie starts on September 5th.

Usher says his goal is to be an all-around entertainer. He wants to be like his idol Ben Vereen. Usher is currently on Broadway in the musical Chicago. He’s playing the role of the Lawyer “Billy Flynn.” Usher will be performing until October.

Is it love between Oscar Winner Jamie Foxx and British Jazz Singer Alexia Collen? If she’s around for the December premiere of his movie Dreamgirls, then we will take it seriously.

Retired NBA Star Rick Fox is joining the cast of the FX Network show Dirt. He’s going to play a basketball player in a troubled marriage. This role is sure to mirror his life and marriage to Singer Vanessa Williams. Friends Alum Courtney Cox will star in this TV show about tabloid reporters.

Will there be a new season of Americas Next Top Model? Yes! Season seven has already been completed despite a strike that is going on with the producers and writers of the show. They walked off the set of the hit show after negotiations broke down as they tried to form a union. The producers and writers feel they are being shortchanged and they want the same privileges and benefits of writers and producers who work on union shows. Season number 8 will be in jeopardy if the strike continues. Tyra Banks is the show’s creator, executive producer and host. The news season kicks off September 20th on the CW Network.

It’s good to be Mrs. Kobe Bryant! Kobe recently gave his wife a diamond encrusted Mercedes Benz. Earlier this year, she gave birth to their second child a daughter.

They don't call Vickie Winans the "Hardest Working Woman in Gospel" for nothing. The 52-year-old, Detroit-bred singer just released her newest CD, 'Woman to Woman: Songs of Life,' which came in at No. 1 on Billboard's Gospel Chart and cracked Billboard's Top 200 chart at number 87. "I ain't going to stop working until I sell a million copies of this album. Then I can go somewhere and sit down," Winans told me following her in-store appearance at a Wal-Mart in Detroit.

Fans were lined up a block and a half long, hoping to get a signed copy of the CD and see Winans perform. "Everybody in the Wal-Mart was crying. They were shouting in the Wal-Mart. They took off and was running into the shirts. I thought they were going to put us out of there. The Wal-Mart people were like, 'Oh, our shirts,'" laughed Winans. "But I was telling those people what I had been through and they were like, 'My God, if she can make it, I can too!'"

What Winans has been through is conveyed through music on 'Woman to Woman.' The two-CD set is a compilation of new songs and covers of songs that helped her cope with the various crises in her own life. It features appearances by Winans' sons Marvin Winans Jr. and Bad Boy recording artist Mario Winans. "I've been through everything. I'mma tell you, I tell people I've been evicted, convicted, depressed, possessed and repossessed. I lost my baby girl; she died. My daddy died instantly after leaving my house on Christmas day. I've been divorced. I've been sick. I've been down to 99 pounds while sick and almost at death. I've been broke. I've been fat. What else can you go through?"

Winans said that it was during those low points in life that she promised God she'd record an album that would encourage women in the areas that were difficult for her. "At those times, I was using songs to soothe the things that were hurting me. I promised that one of these days, I was going to make a record, and I am going to think about all the things that ever happened to me and I am going sing until I get it all out. I have been thinking about doing it for 10 years," she said.

Music and the support of her mother Mattie A. Bowman is what kept Winans from her breaking point. She said she doesn't know where she would be now if her mother had not stayed by her side. "My mom was the reason why I didn't' go into total depression about being sick and almost dying. I would lay in the bed for day in and day out. I didn't want to get up, and I didn't want to take a shower. I just wanted to just die. You sick for eight months and don't anybody know what's wrong with you. I had 12 and 13 doctors, and they were just giving me medicine to treat symptoms. I needed somebody to help me," recalled Winans.

Though people call her a "superwoman," Winans knows it's impossible for her to meet everyone struggling with issues she faced. But it's her prayer that her spirit resonates through her CD and gives women the support that her mom gave her. "Now I can't physically be at everybody's house. But through my lyrics and through my songs and through the feeling that I can put in a CD, I can still be able to lift you, bless you, make you jump and make you know that you can triumph. Make you know the rainbow is coming. This storm is over! You may have another one that you're going to go through, but this storm, you won't have to see this one anymore. That's what I am talking about," she explained.

And women are responding! Not just by purchasing the CD, but they're overloading the singer with correspondences as well. "I opened my email up the day that [the CD] came out and there were 611 emails. I had just answered it the night before. People have been calling me, emailing me, telling me, 'My God! We love this CD,'" said Winans.

If making music wasn't enough for Winans, who also manages herself, the singer has recently added the title supermodel to her resume. She's the latest spokesmodel for the Donna Vinci clothing line and will actually be appearing with the line at the MAGIC Show in Las Vegas Aug. 28-31. Look out Tyra Banks! "She don't have to look nowhere," laughed Winans. "That Tyra Banks is beautiful. You need to be put in jail for that Jawn. That Tyra Banks is all that and a bag of chips!"

Joyful Noise

Gospel music's largest convention, Gospel Music Workshop of America, convened last week in Dallas for its 39th annual conference. The seven-day workshop, founded by the late Rev. James Cleveland, is made up of educational forums, various mass choir rehearsals, nightly worship services, youth activities and private industry-only functions for gospel radio announcers and media professionals. Every Tom, Dick and local church star attends GMWA because it's the place where the record labels roll out new projects and break fresh talent. It's also where aspiring artists work to get noticed. More than 15,000 registrants show up to see and be seen.

I arrived in Dallas last Monday, though thanks to United Airlines, one of my bags arrived the following day. (Yes, I am, and will still fly United despite what Mo'Nique says.) General Motors provided a Cadillac Escalade for me to dash around steamy downtown Dallas. Here are some of the highlights:

* EMI Gospel artist Myron Butler hosted a musical at his home church, St. Luke Community United Methodist Church. It was a who's who of hot young talent, and folks such as Maurette Brown-Clark, Vashawn Mitchell, Nikki Ross, Malcolm Williams, DeWayne Woods, Carolyn Traylor, Jonathan Nelson, George Huff, Sean Simmonds, Deon Kipling and others all sang. Oscar Williams, Ted Winn of Ted & Sheri and Candy West were also there. And who said church folk can't be on one accord? The emcee announced that the guests were to only sing one song in order to preserve time. When newcomer William Demps hit the stage, he sang one number and had the sound man cut the track just shy of its completion and prepared to sing a second tune. The audience unanimously said: "No, only one song!" I almost fell in the floor laughing.

* Neily Dickerson's Church Howse showcase was one of the week's standouts. The theme of her showcase was an old-school Sunday service-complete with opening processional, responsive reading, prayer and scripture. Guests dined on Sunday school favorites such as hot dogs, pretzels, Cracker Jacks and orange juice while artists including Ernest Pugh, Antwaun Stanley, Onitsha, Sunny Hawkins, Tiffany Gilkey Chears and Focus performed. There was then a throwback choir concert, featuring classic songs by gospel greats like The Thompson Community Choir and Walter Hawkins. During the impromptu musical, singers Kim Burrell, Melonie Daniels, Lemmie Battles, and Lucinda Moore, who revved back so hard while singing "Safe In His Arms" I thought she was auditioning for the next installment of 'The Matrix,' all dazzled the crowd by covering other artist's hits. Brent Jones and B. Chase Williams directed the choir while folks like Percy Bady played with the band. The best part about it is that it'll be released on DVD sometime next year.

* EMI Gospel's late night showcase was hosted by radio veterans Willie Mae McIver and Lee Michaels, along with Joe Ligon of the Mighty Clouds of Joy. A new music video by Kierra "KiKi" Sheard was premiered during the showcase. The video is a venture between EMI Gospel, Ford Motor Company and the Gospel Music Channel. There was also a pre-taped video greeting from Dallas Austin's new gospel trio V3. Showcase performances were given by Marcus Cole, Darrell Pettis & SIP, Kevin Vassar, Myron Butler & Levi, Smokie Norful and the legendary Vanessa Bell Armstrong. Butler and his group really stole the show-well, that was until Armstrong decided to show everyone what the meaning of "hit it and quit it" was all about. With the showcase running extremely long and well past 3 a.m., Armstrong, who is readying her EMI Gospel debut, sang a show-stopping oldie-but-goodie and upon completion told the crowd, "And I'm done!" That alone was almost worth the trip to Dallas!

* Zomba Gospel, home to the industry's big two-Verity and Gospo Centric, showcased on the last afternoon of the conference. The sit-down luncheon was hosted by Byron Cage, who also sang, and featured performances by Vickie Winans, 21:03, DeWayne Woods & When Singers Meet, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, Dave Hollister, Kelly Price, Kenny Lattimore & Chante Moore, Deitrick Haddon, Fred Hammond and Richard Smallwood & Vision. The awesome Woods is the protégé of gospel star Donald Lawrence and really impressed the sometimes-stuffy radio announcers with his two songs and testimony of being delivered by God from H.I.V. Unfortunately for Destiny's Child-like trio Trin-I-Tee 5:7, they had to follow Woods with an R&B-esque performance that was clearly out of place. The saddest thing about this former gold-selling group is that everyone but them seems to get why they just don't appeal to the gospel consumer anymore. Hey ladies, if you're reading this, call my phone! And for the record, everything I said about me being mad that Hollister was singing gospel I now take back. His gospel set was hot, to say the least.

* I judged a semi-final round of GMWA's talent contest Gospel Treasure along with Tara Griggs-McGee (Sony Gospel), artist Stephen Hurd, Neily Dickerson (the ND co./Church Howse Music), and Cheryl Jackson (Washington, D.C.'s Heaven 1580-AM). The event was hosted by beloved radio talent Donna Creer and K.D. Bowe (Sheridan Gospel Network)... Kenny Taylor's fiesta-themed showcase was a hit and featured dynamic performances by Lucinda Moore, Ziel and The Anointed Pace Sisters... Patti LaBelle performed for the first time at the conference at the founder's night musical. LaBelle sang an upcoming cut from her forthcoming gospel debut and sang while reading the words from a sheet a paper since she's yet to learn the words to the song... Coko of SWV introduced three songs from her gospel debut 'Grateful' during performances at the youth musical and at the Rev. James Cleveland tribute service, including a remake of Tramaine Hawkins' "Look At Me" and her single "Clap Your Hands."... Industry veteran Al "The Bishop" Hobbs was saluted during an appreciation concert to celebrate his 50-year anniversary in gospel. Even though GMWA is over, I'm willing to bet the tribute service is still going on. Richard Smallwood, Angie Spivey, Kathy Taylor Brown, Vashawn Mitchell, Melonie Daniels and The Caravans were among the many that performed.

Next year GMWA will celebrate its 40th year anniversary in Orlando, Fla.

Online blogs have been buzzing about actor Brian J. White ('Mr. 3000') dating the reigning Miss California, Tamiko Nash. The pair has been spotted out together recently and was even photographed at several events together. But a source close to the actor would only say that "they're friends," but added that White enjoys Nash's company because he feels "it's fairly rare to meet such genuinely good people in Los Angeles."

Speaking of dating, actor Donald Faison ('Scrubs') is apparently romancing Jessica Simpson's former assistant CaCee Cobb. The two have been making the rounds on the party scene in Hollywood and haven't been shy about their public displays of affection. I broke news about a year and a half ago that Faison had divorced his wife Lisa Askey. The couple has three children.

Is there trouble with Tyra Banks' 'America's Next Top Model?' CEO of the new CW, John Maatta, sent out a letter last Thursday assuring affiliates that the ongoing issue with the show's behind-the-scenes employees-it was reported that more than a dozen writer-producers recently walked out, demanding recognition as members of the Writers Guild-won't stop the show from premiering on time. In fact, Maatta told affiliates that all 13 episodes of season seven, premiering Sept. 20, are already completed, and a Plan B is in place for season eight as well. "If this proves to be a lengthy dispute... a contingency plan will be developed, and whatever necessary steps will be taken to continue developing episodes that maintain the show's high standards," wrote Maatta, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

What's more embarrassing than being a celebrity whose credit card gets declined? Try being a celebrity driving a Bentley and it being parked in front of a swank restaurant in Beverly Hills and it not starting! That's what happened to a certain singer-actor recently during a night out at Wolfgang Puck's über -popular eatery Spago. When said entertainer tried to leave the dining establishment, his car wouldn't start and the valet's attempted to check the engine to see what was wrong. Fans began snapping pictures with their camera phones and gathering around in amazement. A Spago employee recalled a similar situation with another celebrity's Bentley failing to start and after pushing some button in the trunk, the car started and said entertainer drove off. Elton John tells Rolling Stone magazine that he wants to record a hip-hop album with Grammy-winning producer Dr. Dre.

"I want to work with Pharrell, Timbaland, Snoop, Kanye, Eminem and just see what happens," John says in the Sept. 7 issue. "It may be a disaster, it could be fantastic, but you don't know until you try."

The 59-year-old says he is a fan of Blackstreet's "No Diggity" and Tupac Shakur's "California Love."

"I want to bring my songs and melodies to hip-hop beats," John says. "I love these beats, but I have no idea how to get them."

John performed Eminem's song "Stan" with the rapper during the 2001 Grammy awards.

John's new album, "The Captain and the Kid," is due in September.

It wasn't all her fault- that play was AWFUL. The premise was bad, the execution was bad and the story was just idiotic.

The high point of the play was seeing a white lady dress up in blackface. As a maid.

More bad dramatic pick than anything.

Life after ‘Soul Food’ is going pretty well for actor/entrepreneur-/choreographer Darrin Henson. The 34-year-old, Bronx, New York-bred talent said he knew that he and his cast members would all be successful beyond the acclaimed Showtime drama.

“First of all, it was such an honest show. I think it’s very difficult to typecast cast members of ‘Soul Food.’ Normally people who get typecast into roles are usually in half-hour or one hour comedy slots. For example, Jimmie “J.J.” Walker, the guy that played Gilligan (the late Bob Denver) on ‘Gilligan’s Island,’ and the guy who played Steve Urkel (Jaleel White). Those are all comedies. Dramas are a little bit more difficult to get typecast into unless you’re a really good villain or bad boy,” he told me while en route to the airport in New Jersey.

Now Henson has a reality series in the U.K. (‘Bump and Grind’ on Sky’s Trouble channel), a bestselling DVD (‘Darrin’s Dance Grooves’) and several film projects on the horizon (‘Steppin’/‘The Salon’/‘Life Support’/‘The Last Stand’). Despite all of that, he said now that ‘Soul Food’ is airing on BET, a whole new audience recognizes the work he and his former cast was doing. “The transition for the actors that were on ‘Soul Food’ was such a powerful transition because we did five years of the show and then it was said to be discontinued. By it being on BET, it’s given it a much broader and wider audience where people who didn’t have Showtime can sit and enjoy the life of Black people and what Black love and commitment is like,” he explained.

Before getting his breakthrough role in Hollywood with ‘Soul Food,’ Henson spent many years touring with and choreographing routines for everyone from Michael Jackson to N’Sync to Britney Spears and Prince. Having spent so much time working to make others successful, Henson decided to focus on his own endeavors. Fresh from having taped his forthcoming ‘Darrin’s Dance Grooves 2’ DVD, Henson has put his choreography career on hold to focus on acting, and the end result is four movies being released within the next year.

First up for Henson is the Sept. release of ‘The Salon’—the independently shot adaptation of the ‘Barbershop’ series that caused MGM to sue producer-director Mark Brown for creating an unauthorized spin-off. Produced by Vivica A. Fox, the film also stars Kym E. Whitley, Terrence Howard, Monica Calhoun and Dondre Whitfield.

Henson is adamant that despite movies like ‘Beauty Shop’ and ‘Hair Show’ having already been released, ‘The Salon’ is a film that you haven’t seen before. “I think the different dynamic in ‘The Salon’ is that it’s a story that everybody can relate to in a way. A lot of people say that, but this is. We either go through situations of gentrification or we go through situations of imminent domain, which is what Vivica’s character goes through in the movie,” he offered. “Then, you have your very, very feminine kind of stereotypical salon men beauticians in there. This one is dynamic because it gives information about what they go through mentally and how people really attack them. Whether or not their sexuality has anything to do with it, they’re people. I think this movie is based more upon the educational aspect of what goes on in salons as well.”

Henson is equally as passionate about ‘Steppin,’ a film set to bow in January 2007. “It’s a movie that I’m anticipating and once people see the trailers, people are gonna go crazy over this film! It’s done by Sony Screen Gems and Rainforest Films, who are known for the ‘Trois’ films and ‘The Gospel.’ It’s a dynamic story about coming of age and adulthood for a young cat out of South Central who actually gets sent to Georgia to live because his brother gets killed. In trying to live a better life, he comes against some of the growing pains of having to be an individual who has to have rules and regulations in his life,” he said about the film.

Despite having four films coming down the pike, Henson still has interest in television as well. He said if he could add himself to any current series on TV, it would definitely be ‘E.R.’ “It’s just a dope show, and it’s just a platform to show that African-Americans are also involved in the medical field and are helping save lives as opposed to what people think which is that we are always taking lives,” he added.

Sounds like Henson is vying for Samuel L. Jackson’s title of the “Hardest Working Man in Hollywood!”

Since our Music Notes story two weeks ago, BV Buzz has learned of many other new developments within the recording industry. In addition to crooner Brian McKnight being among the professional singers who are a part of 'American Idol' judge-producer Simon Cowell's 'Celebrity Duets' show, I hear that McKnight has inked a new recording contract with Warner Bros. Records. The singer was previously signed to Motown Records.

In other Warner Bros. Records news, singer Jaheim is no longer on the label. After a long tumultuous relationship with Warner Bros., Jaheim has left the label and will apparently now record for its sister company Atlantic Records.

Veteran R&B trio Next is rumored to have inked a new recording contract with Mathew Knowles' Music World Music label. The group released two albums on Arista Records and one on J Records before a bitter breakup. Several dis records targeted at each other and a few nasty interviews later, Robert "R.L." Huggar, Terry "T-Low" Brown and Raphael "Tweety" Brown have reconciled and are ready to make new music. Music World Music recently announced the signing of "Heard It All Before" singer Sunshine Anderson.

Jeryl Busby has a new label situation at Universal/Motown. I'm told Busby's first release will be a gospel CD by Patti LaBelle. In addition, I hear that the veteran record executive has also signed former Bad Boy Entertainment artist Carl Thomas as well.

Gospel dynamo Kim Burrell's much anticipated new album is getting another delay. Though initially slated to be a studio album, Sony Gospel president Tara Griggs-McGee told me that the label is now gearing up for a live recording on Burrell. No date has been set as of yet. Additionally, the album will likely feature several of the studio tracks already recorded by Burrell. In the meantime, you can hear Burrell and her other guests at her Ephesians 4 Conference in Houston Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

Is that Ne-Yo receiving some oral action from a female in three X-rated photos obtained by the go-to urban blog ConcreteLoop.com? I'm not sure, but it darn sure looks like the chart-topping, admitted "sex addict." Apparently the pictures were taken by the singer's own Sidekick 3 and were sent out by one of Ne-Yo's backup dancers-not the one who administered the sexual gesture in the photos. Apparently the second dancer was upset when she discovered the pictures and decided to put them both on blast by sending them out online. At press time, a rep for the singer hadn't responded to a detailed request for comment.

Singer Ann Nesby and her daughter Jamecia Bennett are gearing up to hit the road in a touring play called 'Save Me From My Secret.' Details of the play were scarce at press time, however there is talk that singer Eric Benet may also join the cast. Bennett was relieved of her chaperoning duties for her daughter, 'American Idol' finalist Paris Bennett, because the jovial singer recently celebrated her 18th birthday. The just-legal Bennett will wrap the 'American Idol' tour without her mommy in tow.

Singer Towanda Braxton-Carter of the group The Braxtons is expecting her second child in November. The sister of Toni Braxton, who appeared on the NBC reality drama 'Starting Over,' gave birth to a baby boy named Braxton Carter on Nov. 11 of last year. Braxton-Carter resides in Atlanta with her husband, author Andre Carter.

Well, if you work the front desk of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, you pray that someone else in their entourage quickly puts up a credit card before the athlete decides to take out their frustration on you. That's what happened to said athlete when he attempted to check-in the MGM while in Las Vegas for the Oleg Maskaev vs. Hasim Rahman boxing match. Luckily once the card was declined-meaning the sports figure didn't even have the $150 the hotel wanted to hold for incidentals-someone in his camp offered up a card and it went through. As her Sept. 13 debut on Today grows even closer, Meredith Vieira is not looking back on her nine years on The View. But she does dis it.

Speaking about her former ABC vehicle, Vieira tells Time magazine that she "needed to think ahead" and no longer watches the daytime chatfest.

"But I have to admit," she says, "the day after Star (Jones) made her announcement (about leaving), I watched. I feel very sad for everything that's happened and for everybody involved. I'm proud of the work we did there, but it's not a good time in the history of that show. It's hard to watch. It sort of became a joke."

Asked if she'd grown tired of The View, she says: "Not tired, but I'd been doing it for nine years. The positive side was that it was like a wonderful, comfortable pair of slippers. But you can become so blasé."

Though she turned down a job on CBS's Early Show in 2002, Vieira said, she couldn't turn her back on NBC's Today.

"I have the opportunity to do pretty much any story I want to do," she says. "And if I don't do this now, I'll probably not get offered it again. I'd kick myself. I'm not somebody who loves getting up at 4 in the morning, so this might kill me, but we'll see."

I mean dude looked crazy from the beginning. I always thought something was weird about everything, he was just too calm. Sorta like he enjoyed it.:( All of that the government/state did and for what? It's funny how they made a big production of it when they brought him here but now it's just like "whatever" :rolleyes:

I think Meredith and Star had each other's backs. I remember reading that Star was very upset when Meredith decided to take Katie's place on Today. Maybe Star saw the writing on the wall then. Meredith knew that her and Star were the most popular on that show. You never see Joy do too much outside the show.
