No need to keep me posted. I am grown, I can live without the scoop on immature undergrad "beef" over t-shirts and the like. I guess AKA2D is right, and undergrads have different priorities. I'm just glad that the undergrad life is such a cakewalk that folks have time, energy and resources to beef over t-shirts with analogies printed on them.

Yes, it must be if individuals find time to come up w/ such asinine T-shirts. :D But the beef I was referring to was the historical one between the two organizations and that is what tied into the productions of those t-shirts or at least that's what they say validates the claim to motherhood.

I agree and it is eqully ridiculous for people to waste additional time/energy/resources working on a comeback for something that is "asinine" in the first place. :D

Ditto!

Just get a shirt that says I am your sister/brother. :p Marquise, get a shirt that says, "I am your brother" and have a Kappa, Alpha, Omega, Sigma, and Iota all holding hands. :D :p
LMAO @ me. :D

LMAO @ me. :D

I actually have a Greek Unity Shirt like that, minus the holding hands. It has all the D9 on it and it says, "There's 9 ways to be Greek" on the front and on the back it says, "Everything else is a poor substitute."

AKA2D '91 04-25-2006 02:29 PM

Hold up! LOL
Our UGs (as a fundraiser) had a black shirt with white writing. On the front it has all of the Greek Alphabet in a design. The back says..."No matter the letters...it's all Greek to me". They are at a PWI, but they didn't sell that many.

:(

One on one conversations on a message board are called PMs.

You're right it was on a public forum. But you responded as though I made the offer to you. I made no offer to keep you posted. That is what I meant. So your reply was not needed.

I know you said that you were talking to Skee but you made reference to OUR (ladygreek and me) organization. Surely you understand why both she and I replied.

Of course he does.

And don't call him Shirley.

(sorry, couldn't resist, it was just there for the taking...) ;) :D

OK, K.I.M....

IOTA-4A'88F 04-25-2006 05:03 PM

A big shout out to all BGLO, D9 or otherwise.....you are all my sisters and brothers to me.

My father is named Aaron and my mother is named Mary.

And at the end of the day, it is just an organization that you belong to. If someone wants to wear a shirt that says I am your father/mother, let them. You know they are not, and if they don't, then it is on them to learn THEIR organizational history and their own mental history.

I-O-T-A.....ALL DAY....EVERY DAY!!!!

MY BROTHER MARQUISE1911: GREAT POST.

The Sorors were Neos. That was one of their first projects as members. They were trying to do a good thing, and earn a few $$$. I do believe a few of those shirts are still up for sale. I believe most sorors from our chapter ended up buying them.

KAPPAtivating 04-26-2006 12:00 AM

I think this was a great post to get people conversating. However, I believe as a rule of thumb that *simple people do simple things*. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason why. It is not what a person is called, but what they respond to. So if somebody chooses to call them Mother/Father then that's on them.

That's too bad, because I think that was a wonderful idea.

Really, I have never understood where conversate came from.

ARTIC-U-LATE 04-26-2006 11:34 AM

Small minds discuss people, great minds discuss ideas......

KAPPAtivating 04-26-2006 12:05 PM

The reason I used the word conversating is because the initial question was posed to see if this is happening anywhere else. Discussion on any topic is healthy; minus the sidebar comments of others. If you don't know...then ask...that's the only way to get an answer. The problem occurs when people take things too seriously and make unecessary comments to others.

The first person I ever hear used that term was Notorious B.I.G. Then black folks everywhere started using it thinking it sounded like an intelligent big word. But is really NOT EVEN a word. It is a peeve of mine to hear people say that. Even worse if a supposedly educated person thinks its a word. The word is CONVERSE. Get it together folks, lol.

It's been around a long time and mostly used by folx with limited vocabularies trying sound intelligent. Then it became slang, but many people do think it is a real word.:(
