Bottom line despite everything else that's being said..... the 46 young men tested did not match any DNA recovered from her body. If 3 of them held her down and forcible raped her there would have been transfer somewhere. There was none. And now there are photos that show her arriving at the house already bruised and beat up.

In the decision, the grand jury noted many inconsistencies in Brawley's story. Among these were the results of the rape kit, which did not indicate sexual assault. Also, despite her claim of having been held captive for days, Brawley was not suffering from exposure, was well nourished, and appeared to have brushed her teeth recently. There were no burns on her body, despite her clothing being charred. A shoe she was wearing was cut through, yet she had sustained no injuries to her foot. Testimony from her schoolmates indicated that she attended a local party during the time of her supposed abduction, and one witness claimed to have observed Brawley climbing into the garbage bag. An ex-boyfriend of Brawley's told Newsday that Brawley had admitted making the attack up.

A total of 180 witnesses were called during the trial. Brawley herself never testified. [2]

The motive Brawley may have had for faking the attack is not known. One hypothesis holds that Brawley, who skipped school to visit her incarcerated boyfriend the day of her disappearance, feared severe punishment from her stepfather, so she took the drastic step of staging an elaborate abduction. Few commentators believe she intended to create the media storm that resulted, but was instead swept up by a story that snowballed out of control.

Yeah, wikipedia is such an accurate source.

You can pull up whatever you want to Rudey, but I'm going to give the victim the benefit of the doubt. I know what sexual assault does to you and your state of mind. Not to mention, I never said that I thought these young men were guilty. I said that I believed Bradley, and I believe this young woman.

Doesn't mean that sexual contact happened without her consent.

I love how everyone in this thread thinks they are qualified to discuss what physical evidence "should" be present during a sexual assault. Is anyone here a forensic scientist? Police officer? Rape counselor? No? Well then, you're just reguritating stuff you've read somewhere else, and you have no clue if its true or not.

Incorrect. Using condoms will not remove all traces of DNA. In either case, no traces of latex were found so condom use isn't the issue either.

What was inaccurate about that evidence? I have read it in many sources.

I can't argue with what you believe and your opinion. You can say the JFK was shot by the CIA, little green men landed in Roswell and that Mormons are right. It's not possible for me to argue against an opinion. I can argue with the facts. And right now the facts are supposed to show someone is a rapist, otherwise there is no merit to the claim - and they haven't done that.

It's funny, cry wolf enough times and after a while nobody believes you.

Would there be any evidence to make you believe that this prostitute is lying or does her playing the race card give her unlimited credibility?

Prostitute? The "race card" (race isn't a card, but okay) would have been played even if the alleged victim did not say anything about the "N" word. It would have been played even MORESO if this had been a black team with a white exotic dancer. Such is life.

Also, the media commentary on the fact that Duke is on one side of the tracks and that NCCU is on the other side of the tracks in the same city speaks volumes on social class and race in this country.

No, I brought up the fact that folks think they are experts when they aren't. I never said folks couldn't have their own opinion. Saying "I think he did it" is different than saying "XYZ evidence is missing and therefore that means that ABC did/didn't happen"...one is based in opinion and one is based in supposed "facts" that folks really can't prove on here.

Who said she was a prostitute? Exotic dancer/stripper is not the same thing.

How did she "play" the race card? She can't help the race of her alleged attackers.

Here we go with names again. First Limbaugh then macallan25 and now you. Stop it already! Just because she is a stripper does NOT mean she is a prostitute or a crackhead or ho or anything else like that. Now if she happens to be and those facts are proven, then fine but don't make assumptions because if you want to stick to the facts, then stick to them all the way not just when its convenient.

BTW, neither side has unlimited credibility.

If "guests" of the lacrosse team party were the ones who actually did commit the assault, aren't the team members who were there guilty of doing nothing to stop it? Why such a code of silence by the entire team? The resignation of the award winning coach wouldn't have been necessary if they were completely innocent.

She worked for an escort agency.

And she said she was attacked by white guys who yelled racial epithets at ther right? And then people talked about how Duke is full of rich white kids (30% minority of course) in a poor black neighborhood.

Again, what evidence would make you not believe her story?

The law has put many innocent people into jails. In this case, the law has ruined their reputations before a trial or even an indictment.

They provided DNA evidence and have every right to not help "The law" screw them.

I'd like proof that she worked as an escort, not just that she worked for an escort agency.

Once again, how is she "pulling the race card" if her alleged attackers shouted racial epithets AT HER? She's not responsible for that, nor is she responsible for the media's spin on the story. I seriously doubt that she's some type of Jedi using mind tricks to get people to do her bidding.

I don't know what kind of evidence I would need to not believe her. But I know I don't have it now, and until I do, I'm going to believe her story.

Say what you want, you can't prove she's a prostitute. And even if she was, even if she slept with 100 men that night before she got to the party, if she didn't consent then that is rape!

It sounds like your problem then is with the DA/Police and the Media and not this young woman. Whether she is telling the truth or not remain to be seen. But if you have a problem with how they guys have been portrayed in the media, then take it to the right place. Like Jubilance said, I doubt she is a Jedi miraculously making others do her bidding. If the DA chose to make the issue highly public before the trial, and if the media chose to use the "race card" as you put it, then that is their choice not hers.

IF she lied, and that has been no more "proven" than it has that those boys raped her. You happen to fall on the side of immediately giving the benefit of the doubt to the lacrosse players while others have given the benefit of the doubt to the victim. And by the way, according to the initial news reports, the victim was not the only person that provided testimony to the police about hearing racial slurs coming from the house. There is a recorded 911 call to police by a young black woman who was passing by the house, stating that she had just been called racial slurs, and a neighbor who commented about hear the epiteths (spelling?) coming from the home. So as far as the "race card", racism, etc. preliminarily it was a recorded incident at the house.

Off the top of my head here are several reasons:

1) Catching a killer is more important than catching prostitutes
2) Street walkers and whore houses present a problem because they are clustered and attract other forms of crime. Escorts do out calls and aren't centralized like that.
3) Escort services do have caller id and often only deal with certain clients.
4) There are rules against entrapment and escort agencies know how to use them so they will say the money is for the company and the sex just happens because the girls wants it to happen
5) Cops like prostitutes too.

Innocent before guilty. It's how our country works. There are no charges filed even.

And there are witnesses and neighbors that say they didn't hear anything.

I can call you a rapist right now and this would mean that we wouldn't know and you might possibly be one huh? Just like that? Well thankfully our legal system says you aren't one at all until we charge you, do an investigation on you and say you're guilty.

Did anyone just watch that conference at NC Central? Holy crap. I would have hated to be that DA, and I probably would have lost my temper and gotten myself killed.

This issue is ridiculous. People keep saying "we don't know" and "there are holes on both sides." Yeah, the hole is, this woman is a stripper (likely a prostitute) who was injured beforehand, and is now trying to discredit a bunch of white kids without any evidence. Call me whatever, but it seems unlikely a bunch of Duke kids decided, "you know what we should do tonight, rape a black prostitute." I would not be at all surprised to see the criminal case dropped, and a civil case proceed (aka Kobe Bryant). Whats more disgusting than the fact that these kids are most likely having their lives wrongfully ruined, is that so many people are using this as a rallying point against the "white establishment." If you watched that conference, you probably understand what i'm talking about.
