Note to all: "The Greek Shop" that I talked about earlier. Well, I have a report. The truth is I know they do quality work ...but...

I ordered back whenever and FINALLY got my invoice saying that the order probably won't be completed until January. Ok? Hmmm...so I contacted them (they are ALWAYS rude by the way) and tried to figure out where exactly my order was in processing since it's a Christmas gift.

So, I called and they said I had to send an email. Then I emailed them only to have them reply, very obnoxiously I might add, that the orders were being delayed because of inquiries. Well folks, if you'd actually give us some reasonable shipping times, it might be better!

Then I was cordially berated - No one told me that in order for them to check on one order, they have to stop the ENTIRE production line - that's not how to treat customers. And, supposedly, each inquiry a person makes about his/her order sets production, for ALL orders, back a day. I find that very hard to believe.

Not only that but IF YOU INQUIRE ABOUT YOUR ORDER THEY WILL TAKE IT OUT OF PRODUCTION AND PUT IT BACK IN AT THE BACK OF THE LINE. Yes, that's the very back of the line...behind people who ordered yesterday even!

I will NEVER order from them again. I don't even want the thing they're making now, but it's all paid up and it's been months now.

kddani 12-18-2004 01:55 PM

Sorry to hear you're having such a poor experience!

I do think that you should post the name of the company in this thread so that people know your experience. When you're dealing in business you have to accept the criticisms, especially when you treat customers poorly.

What they said to you is entirely unacceptable. There's no production line, this isn't a "real" company and it's also not licensed, btw, by any group to make paraphenelia.

That's total, utter, BS, and you should file for a paypal refund.

preciousjeni 12-18-2004 04:36 PM

Oh wait, wait! I have two paraphernalia deals going on at once.

---------

The first is with "The Greek Shop" and I'm getting a jacket done. They're the ones who told me about a production line.

By the way, I have to say it again, I WILL NEVER AGAIN SHOP AT "THE GREEK SHOP."

SEE THEIR SITE: http://www.thegreekshop.com/contents.html

They are unprofessional and rude, but again I have to admit that their work is of high quality.

(They're the ones that told me about the production line. They said that when they take an item out of production to check on the status, they have to put it back at the end behind everyone else. Can someone please tell me if what they said is even possible?)

Once I finally get the jacket and complete the entire transaction, I'm reporting them to the BBB.

---------

The second is with "Letters 4 Life" for a sweatshirt. Ok, no one has gotten back to me in four days now. I paid in full already, but have not gotten a single email response about it. The payment has gone through so I know they received it and are just sitting on my money.

Isn't Letters for Life run by a fellow GCer?

I'm afraid so. That's why I was trying to be sensitive and give the benefit of the doubt. But, I don't appreciate my money being taken with NO email whatsoever to let me know that the order had been received. I mean NO EMAIL. I emailed the company twice, the owner once and PMed the GCer...to no avail.

ETA: I think I've gone crazy from all the 'nalia issues. Forget what I said about the number of days...I can't count...it was actually December 13th when the payment was received by the seller and today it's the 18th. So, that's five days, right? Yeah.

Five days, no email. Something's wrong.

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

I submitted a complaint to PayPal. Today, I got a message from Letters 4 Life saying that my item should ship out tomorrow morning. I'm glad that was resolved. I'll update again when I get the item!

Glad to hear it! Sometimes you gotta get a little tough to get things done :)

FINAL UPDATE

I got my Letters 4 Life sweatshirt today. Argh! The letters look like a child cut them out, but the embroidery along the outside of the letters is quite good.

PLUS, when I received the sweatshirt, it reeked of cigarette smoke so bad (I MEAN BAD!!!) I had to wash it. My parents and I don't smoke, mind you.

jharb 12-23-2004 03:25 PM

I'm shocked, I recieved a t-shirt from letters4life two years ago and loved it. I purchased it off of e-bay and it looked the same as it did on the site. I also don't remember it smelling like smoke at all.

It's a shame you didn't enjoy it...AOX81 i believe is the one on GC who is the letters4life-er.

This was custom work...it took five days (after I placed the order, paid in full AND the company RECEIVED my payment) for me to hear anything from them. Then, I was told that it would arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, but now it's Thursday and I just got it. I understand about the mail, but if you're going to give me a date, please send it priority or something. Now, it's too late for me to get the custom embroidery done that I was going to get. The latest to give it to a local company I had made arrangements with was yesterday.

I love how they show the designs for each sorority! One of my biggest pet peeves is not seeing an item before ordering it.. I like to know exactly what I'm getting first

That's really surprising! I absolutely loved the sweatshirt she made for me, it was made so well! I hope you can get it resolved :(

Sorority Specialties

Like a few others have said, I absolutely LOVE Sorority Specialties! Unfortunately, it's only for like 4 or 5 Chapters...Alpha Phi, Sigma Kappa, KD, GPhiB and I think one more but I'm not too sure. But I ordered stuff from them this summer and literally received my items 2 days later!! Prices are really good too and they always have a good selection of sale items.

LIL3L3PHANT 12-26-2004 06:47 PM

greekclothing.com

Has anyone ever ordered from Greekclothing.com? My parents gave me some money to order some sweatshirts offline. Greekclothing.com was running a really good deal it was somthing like $39.00 for a t-shirt and a sweatshirt. I got really excited and just ordered two sets. Does anyone know if they are good:confused:

Ok...I'm finally able to post this pic of the product I got at Letters4Life. Check out the "O" - it's a hot mess...

I don't know how to make the pic smaller. Anyway, the "O" is the top letter. I took the pic with a bad camera, sorry!

Is it supposed to be a "Theta" instead of an "Omicron", since you are a Theta Nu Xi?

LOL! No - it was a gift shirt. I was referring to the way the "O" was cut out. Look especially at the center.

I'm not dealing with a "Bad" company, per se, but I did place an order and now one of the items is no longer available (although still listed on their site). I asked to cancel the order. Does that make me a bad customer? (With that item unavailable, I'd now be paying more in shipping than the items cost themselves, and I no longer think it's worth it.)

No. It was the company's decision to no longer carry the item. You're completely in the right especially if shipping charges are a factor.

KDLady00 03-02-2005 02:34 AM

I had bought a KD hoodie from a company(Greek Clothing) off ebay and when I went to pay for it I ended up having to pay for it outside ebay...anyway...in the meantime...someone got my bank account information and was running up charges and I had no clue and had to have my account froze and had to wait for my new card to be issued..I called the company and told them what had happened and that I would get them the payment ASAP..
long story short...
I finally got my new card & paid for the hoodie...I got it yesterday and TODAY I recieved a unpaid item strike and negative feedback from this company saying I NEVER paid! WTF?? I asked!! I wrote them an email and waiting to hear back..I am pretty mad about it!

Tippiechick 03-02-2005 02:49 AM

Brandi, did they send you an invoice in an e-mail? There's a good possibility that you were a victim of phishing.

The company most likely filed the NPB report a few days ago. Then, when you paid, it had already gone through. I don't think there's much that can be done once they file the NPB.

You should contact Ebay to let them know that your bank info was stolen. They have a fraud unit that should be alerted.

Yes they did send me an invoice by email...I was reading about the NPB and it can be removed by the seller....
What gets me is they posted Negative Feedback the day after I got my hoodie! I think they are a careless company!
What is phishing??

Nista 03-03-2005 06:31 AM

GreekNation.com and Collegiategreek.com are really good we are a new org. and have had problems getting things made but the have been very helpful!

PhoenixAzul 03-03-2005 10:25 AM

In Columbus, The Jacket Man does 98 percent of the lettering for Otterbein's sororities and fraternities. I've had 3 shirts and a bag and I went to get my little and I our family letters a few days ago. I know they do class letters for Theta NU and I think they did Sigma Alpha Tau's homecoming letters. If you bring them fabric and a tshirt, it's only 8 bucks to have a shirt done.

Being a local, its hard to find lavaliers. I ordered my little's off of Greek101 instead of at the local gift store because the gift store ones always look shotty and dingy to me and the Tau looks odd. Even though it was ridiculously expensive, it was worth it.

Darlinglilred 03-03-2005 02:05 PM

Does anyone know any companies that let you see the designs online? Like you can play around to see what colours look best etc?

Joe toga does sloppy work

I recently made an order with JoeToga.com and I was really Disappointed. The teekees and keychains were sloppy and most of them fell apart within a couple weeks.

I love Sorority Specialties and have ordered several things from them. They are very fast, and very professional!

But I have had problems with Greek Gear. I was charged twice for a t-shirt I ordered... I never did get the money back. :-(

datoester 07-16-2005 01:50 AM

My chapter uses Unique Impressions for most of our insignia. Their stuff is pretty good, although I've never done an online order through them -- I prefer placing orders over the phone so I can hold someone accountable if there's a mistake.

Anyway, they have a physical store in DE (near the Univ. of DE, i think) and their URL is http://www.uniqueonline.com .

I'm also looking to put in a big order of "bar hats" as in baseball caps with (from top to bottom) a bar, GLO letters, another bar, the college name, and another bar. Does anyone know a good place to get them done? There's such a discrepancy in pricing between different online retailers that I don't know which one to go with

summer_gphib 07-16-2005 04:43 AM

A very good friend of mine from college (and a Sigma Nu founding father at Southeast Missouri State) owns a company out of Missouri called BA Promotions. http://www.bapromotions.com

He does beautiful embroidery, and does a lot for Mizzou. I would check out his prices, because he's usually reasonable. (His name is Brad on the contact page, if you were to e-mail him directly.)

I haven't seen him in years though. :-( But he's very honest, and has worked very hard with integrity to build his business.

PinkSigma3 07-16-2005 01:41 PM

I ordered a hoodie & tank top from GreekAve.com.
Ordered it July 4th (a monday) and received it that friday. The hoodie is AWESOME and so is the tank. Total cost was $50.70 for BOTH. Gotta love it.

Greek stores in Columbus

I know there is alot of Ohioans and even some OSU Columbus peeps here... im not far from there, im in granville. Anywho, I cant find the greekstores in Columbus and I know there has to be considering OSU is half of Columbus, can someone give me the address

AOIIalum 10-31-2005 08:31 AM

I honestly don't know of any greek stores here. I'm guessing the OSU bookstores might carry some stuff. Hope someone else can help though.

CrimsonTide4 10-31-2005 08:40 AM

Not sure if it is still open, and I never shopped there but Spirit Concepts is near OSU's campus.:)

PhoenixAzul 10-31-2005 12:20 PM

We always buy blank paddles from Longs bookstore at OSU. They just moved I think. I'm 99.9 percent sure it's called Longs, it's on High st., across the street from one of the main entrances.

Up here at OC, we order from The Jacket Man when we get letters. I've been in there a couple of times when OSU's orgs are picking up letters. Jacket Man charges something like 8 bucks per letter if you bring in your own top fabric and shirt. They're always really nice too.

Oh, and Crimson Tide, I believe that Spirit Concepts is still open. (and I like your signature).

DeltAlum 10-31-2005 12:45 PM

Generally the best place to find Greek stuff in a college town -- and Columbus is a great big college town -- is the book store.

Longs, if it is still open, has been the biggest book store at Ohio State forever it seems.

I'll add that most of the stores have websites and you can order the stuff online.

At Ohio University, it's College Book Store at Court and Union Streets in Athens.

copacabana 10-31-2005 07:45 PM

*bump*
Bumping this thread since I'm buying stuff for my big and I love reading the reviews on sites! I bought a tote bag a couple weeks ago from sororityspecialties.com. It looks really nice and they were very prompt with the order!

Has anybody ordered a paddle/paddle materials online before? I'm thinking about getting mine through Joe Toga...
