Don't forget Michael Strahan and Pete Rose.

Michael Strahan averages about a half a sack a game. Pete Rose was the king of the single.

Hello everyone!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. I've been resting all week, meaning I finished Lance Armstrong's autobio, among other things.

I was able to get a lot of perspective this week. I consider myself extremely lucky since it was caught during the first stage, meaning it hadn't spread to my lymph nodes. I have to undergo some radiation treatments and what not, but chemo isn't neccessary.

I believe I've been given a second chance, a wake up call, of how fortunate to be where I am now. Although is wasn't as serious as it could have been, it feels like it was a signal to stop makign up excuses and waiting and just start getting shit done, volunteering, serious coaching, all the stuff I've been talking about for years.

Anyway, thanks again, I'm trying to get back to normal life asap.

Max, that was probably the funiest line I've heard so far. The guys have just been calling me Lance and Tom, and asking me how my bike ride went, but they had a whole week to prepare.

I'd rather we all laugh at losing lefty than you all cry over me being dead.

BobbyTheDon 01-19-2006 09:56 PM

STAN! I'm glad everything is going fine for you bro. That is freakin great news.

Don't worry about 1 nut. Now it will only hurt half as much when you get hit there.

You da man. Take care brutha

honeychile 01-19-2006 10:07 PM

It is SOOOOO GOOOOD to hear how good you're doing, Stan!!

And you're definitely right - it's better to laugh about losing Lefty than to cry at a funeral! Thank heavens you got treatment in time!!!

Welcome back!!

Rudey 01-19-2006 10:19 PM

High Five homie.

Man I love this.

I also love that Nike ad where they show Lance's shaved head with the surgical scars. Fucking awesome.

Glad you're doing well!!:D

lifesaver 01-20-2006 03:59 AM

Stan, glad to hear you are doing good.

I'm going to take you up on your offer of getting shit done. Specifically, I am going to ask that you post here (or somewhere else where its more relevant, if there is a place) what guys our age NEED TO KNOW about testicular cancer. It is one of the (if not the leading) cause of death of men aged 21-35. Women have done an amazing job of promoting awareness of breast cancer and such, yet us guys lag so far behind. We dont talk about it, dont do the self exams (if we even know how to) or even know the warning signs. So if you could do that when you are up to it, or at least point us in the right direction, it would be awesome. (Maybe a resource that has been helpful for you). If one of us is made more aware, and in the future is able to help ourselves, or a friend because of what we learned from you, some good can come out of your experience. Because between our peers, and those we advise (if you are an advisor), its just a matter of time before it happens to someone else we know.

Again, when you are up to it. Stay stong dude.

FSUZeta 01-20-2006 08:45 AM

lifesaver- what a great idea for all our greekchat boys to get informed on testicular cancer!! we want you all to be around a long time.

Bro there is nothing more awkward, for me, like having a man run his fingers around the beans. And the best part is you can ask him to do it while looking away and if he looks you can say "I see you peeking". It increases the level of awkwardness 10 fold.

Just pay a prostitute to do it. Its still a bit akward, and her medical training might be suspect at best, but in the end you can smack the akwardness right outta the situation.

RedRoseSAI 01-20-2006 01:15 PM

This thread featured a very funny, very effective testicular cancer awareness commercial from the UK. I just tried the link, though, and the commercial is no longer there. Perhaps someone with more Google time on their hands can find it...it was really good.

ETA - glad to hear you're doing well, Tristan!

SigKapBling 01-20-2006 04:19 PM

Glad you're doing well! Still in our prayers and thoughts, though! :D

A Big Congrats for getting through this!!!!!

TristanDSP 01-20-2006 06:15 PM

As I continue through these treatments, I'll try to update with some info as soon as I can.

Guys, as funny as it is, you should do a self check regularly. I didn't have that problem though, I kinda figured it out after a while.
