You have a terrific attitude!!! All the best to you!

aephi alum 01-15-2006 06:02 PM

I'm sorry to hear things didn't work out for you. But you have a great attitude - good luck with COB! :)

Rollergirl2001 01-15-2006 06:28 PM

Sorry to hear about that. Please check your PM box, Duchovnysfan's.

FSUZeta 01-15-2006 07:19 PM

i am so sorry that things didn't work out for you. i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

i do want to say, that your thread was one of the most descriptive, without giving anything away, that i can remember reading on greekchat. i truly got caught up in your excitement, and felt that i was right there in those parties too.

sageofages 01-15-2006 11:05 PM

Going by what you have written, all I can say is I am sad for these chapters. What a gem they have overlooked.

Perhaps, living well is the best reflection and their eyes will be opened.

honeychile 01-15-2006 11:22 PM

sageofages says it well - your lovely attitude will take you much further than a lettered t-shirt ever could!

If you decide to snapbid or COB, I wish you all the luck in the world. If not, you've still come out a big winner in this process!

AChiOhSnap 01-16-2006 03:56 AM

I am so sorry to hear that things did not work out with the sororities this year. I've read through a lot of the previous rush stories and I have to say that you have one of the most positive, insightful personalities I have seen. It was such a treat for me to get to read your story. Please take care, and best of luck to you!

PS: While I was reading your thread, I was thinking that you must do a lot of creative writing -- you were so detailed. If you don't take creative writing, please look into it. You have a real talent.

Unregistered- 01-16-2006 04:05 AM

Your positive attitude is one that should be admired.

Best of luck to you, and I hope things work out.

s0phie 01-16-2006 10:05 AM

You're a very strong woman! I, too, hope that everything works out for you!!!

Drolefille 01-16-2006 11:43 AM

Best of luck and I hope you do try COB (or CR or SIR or whatever alphabet soup chapters there use) My chapter has gotten some of its best girls that way and I feel that the less stressful and less structured environment lets girls really get to know each other.

Hope you stick around!

pinkyphimu 01-16-2006 03:21 PM

i am sorry that things did not work out for you. you have such an amazing attitude!!! i am certain that things will work out just fine for you.

There is some news, I heard every sorority made quota and plus. Now I think right now, it's not looking good. However, I did talk to a couple of my friends in sororities about it and they said they have not heard anything about informal recruitment yet but they said they'll tell as soon as they hear something about it. That's pretty much all I can hope for right now.

Honestly, I do not want to harp on it with my friends in sororities b/c it will come when it comes, so I guess one of those wait and see things....

I'm afraid that your chances are not good at all. If you don't hear from them in a few weeks, then chances are that you may not get a bid this semester. Think and stay positive and be patient.

KSUViolet06 01-21-2006 07:40 PM

If all the sororities are at or above total, you will most likely not have the chance to COB this semester. A chapter at/over quota can not extend any more bids as long as they are at that number. Next semester would be your best bet for COB, some chapters might have openings due to graduating seniors and such.

Slight correction to Jocelyn's post: :)
A chapter cannot extend bids if they are at or above total - which is the max amount of women a chapter can have set by panhellenic. If they are not at total, but did make quota, they are allowed to bid women until they reach total.

That being said, I am sorry you didn't get placed during recruitment, but stay positive and you'll be fine. Best of luck to you in the rest of the semester!

That's what I meant. :)

I figured as much. You're one smart cookie!

Sort of an update!

It's been quite a while since I last posted. This is just a minor update. Since there has been no response about COB, my assumption is that option is now a dead end. It's okay though b/c another opporunity came up where an undisclosed sorority is holding informationals and such. They are not part of Panhellenic or National Pan-hellenic but I'm really interested to learn about them. I'm really interested in this sorority and what it has to offer and maybe there's a chance for me this time around.

The undergraduate chapter has yet to do an informational but when that comes I'll let you know when that happens.

Other than that, life after sorority recruitment has been extremely busy! I tried out for a service org but that didn't work out and that's fine. Campus wide elections are coming up and I'm going for a position so we'll see where that will take me. I know going through recruitment will help me so much during the campaign period - going up to random people so the benefits still ripple through today ;) Other than life is good and just trying keep up with everything.

I'm keeping this thread alive, never thought that would be the case lol :)

falloutgirl 03-11-2006 06:46 AM

is spring rush over? i hope things go well with this sorority... Have you met any girls 4m any of the sororities you were interested in?

Duchovnysfan 03-11-2006 07:32 AM

falloutgirl check your PM box :)

Oui...Girls rush is bananas...Guys isn't that hard...but i guess it is good because you see all the houses.

I go to Long Beach State and I rushed way back in Fall 2002...and we had a bus system...All the guys got bussed to the house and we got passport. In order for use to get a bid from a house...we needed fice out of the seven house stamps. The house that I went though were the following\

Tau Kappa Epsilon
Sigma Alpha Epsilon
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Sigma pi
Delta Chi
Phi Kappa Tau
Kappa Sigma
Theta Chi

The houses that I knew first were Sig Ep, Sig Pi and Phi Tau.

I had classes with some Sig Pi and Phi Tau and I am actually a Sig Ep legacy and my uncle amnd cousin wrote a letter on my behalf
(THEY NEVER TOLD ME).

I thought I would be a Sig Ep, but the first day of rush I didn't liek them...they were self invovled with themselves, and I am really laid back type of guy.

I had a rush group with 15 guys and we all wanted to go to the same house, Our top house were Kappa Sigma, TKE, SAE, and Sig Pi.

The second night of rush, we all went back to those four house, my roommate really liked kappa sigma and tke, and we all wanted to go the same house, but kappa sig didn't like me because I got into an arguement with their president.

Anyways, the three night was the hardest because I like two houses alot...TKE and Sig Pi

On our campus they are alot alike and one had a clean cut image ( Sig Pi) and the other had an Party image (TKE). I got asked back to both house and got bids from both.

The fourth night was the hardest because that is when I had to turn in my passport to the house that I would rush...so I made and decision and picked....TAU KAPPA EPSILON

And honestly...it has been the best decision in my life...My guys are the best and we try our hardest to have the image of the fraternity for everyone.

I think the girl system is good, but I think is confuzing

Update!

Hey everyone!

Well, the semester has ended and of course an update is due! lol. Anyway, I found out that there is life after sorority recruitment :) Things have been great!

First, my college had campus-wide elections and I'm happy to say I was elected to the position of Senate. So I'll be Senator next year and I am very excited. What amazed me about this election is that I got the most votes for Senate, it was the highlight of my year!

Second, I joined a service club, Rotaract which is a subdivision of Rotary International. It's really fun and exciting and became good friends with all the members :)

Third, I became an assistant photo editor at my college's newspaper, a job I have been going for for 3 years and finally got it and really excited about.

Finally, I'm going to be Senior next year and make it the best year of my college career :)

Most of all, thank you to all of you for the advice, support and well wishes before, during and after sorority recruitment. I appreciate it very much and I am thankful for having the experience. Even though I was not placed, I learned so much about myself and celebrate myself too. Thank you again *hugs*
