Well I've been outbid but the persons name has Phi Sig in it so hopefully they are Phi Sigs and going to donate it to CO.
It looked like it was from a couple of chapters but there was information about Los angeles and st louis missouri gatherings. Carolyn |
I was looking at this stuff also and thought about bidding on it...but I'm poor! :o I'm glad its a Phi Sig thats getting it though!

For all the curious people who want to know what Carolyn is talking about, I've put a link to the stuff. I'm dying to know the songs in the songbook. I'm song chair..lol.

Alpha badge...
Just to let you guys know, there's a badge from Alpha chapter on ebay now... and just in time for our 90th birthday  :(
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145 booooooooooooooooooooo |
Damn!
I hope the one winning this badge from Alpha chapter is a Sister.. Is so nice I wish I had the money..
LYLAS, Clariz  |
The high bidder on the Alpha pin is a pin collector:(. I wish I had the $$, but hopefully some sister will step up.
|
I wish that I had the money too. I also wish that Central Office would go on e-bay and purchase the items back. We have a collection agency but they just deal with the money aspect only.
If there is a sister out there that has the money Please Please purchase the badge. Keep our badges away from collectors. L.I.O.B and L.I.T.P Annice |
Phi Sigma Sigma eBay item
Hi Ladies:
Just wanted to alert you to an item on eBay that I think has your badge attached to it. It is an old charm bracelet. Take a look! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=3833 It's not listed as a Phi Sigma Sigma item, but I think that one of the pictures clearly shows your unique Sphinx head badge! I hope it goes to a Phi Sigma Sigma sister. Panhellenically, imsohappythatiama |
Thanks
That is our badge attached to that braclet. That really makes me made that someone made a bracelet out of our badge. I placed a bid on it. Hopefully I'll get it. |
Wow - Great eye, imsohappythatiama!! I would have never picked that out, but you're right - it's in there!!! Thanks for bringing it to our attention!!
|
I think I see the sphinx but I can't really tell....
I see this face with sapphire eyes. is that it? is that an old verison of the badge or is it just the jewled one upside down? maybe I'm just having a dumb moment?? the bracelet looks kinda cool; kinda like it has a lot of history behind it or some pin collector got bored... and if its the second reason I'd be really pissed! good luck annice. i bidded on a phi sig scarf and it still hasn't came in the mail! |
PrincessHeather,
It's the jeweled badge upside down. You know, the one with the chapter letters as the guard? I'm going to keep an eye on this as well. Hopefully one of us can get this and return the badge to CO and return the other sorority and fraternity letters to their CO. (There is a pearl Phi Sigma charm or badge on the bracelet as well). |
Does anyone recognize this sweatshirt
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145

Pin on Ebay
*** I know this thread existed once but couldn't find it***
Okay, another one... any bidders? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145 PS. high bidders seem to be winning other auctions on pins... I suspect pin collectors. |
Sorry... Accidently locked it when I tried to move the thread...

Okay, another from the Zeta chapter dated 1967.

Sorry to bust in, but I found this on ebay. It kind of looks like your badge without the triangle. It has your letters on it.

Badge on E-bay
Is there anyone from the Zeta Epsilon chapter on this board. There is a badge on e-bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...944796950&rd=1
Someone has placed a bid for it. I wish I had the money I would place a bid. Does anyone know if Headquarters will purchase badges from e-bay? |
The Zeta Epsilon Badge
I actually sent the seller an e-mail asking her why she was selling her pins on ebay. Her response was that she had two sets and wanted to share the extras with another Phi Sig. Her name is Tracey. I still have to wonder in what way she is justifying her actions. She sells enough stuff on ebay (based on her profile) to realize that she has no control over who bids and buys. Couldn't she have donated the set to her chapter or send them back to National?

And how exactly did she end up with an extra set of both her new member pin and badge? |
There are a couple of other sororities that have groups who buy up all the ebay pins and send them to their nationals... some are authorized, others aren't but I don't think anyone gets reimbursed. It may be something to consider doing though... start up a group with a web site that is phi sig members (but not affliated with national) where people can donate to, say, a paypal account that could then be used to buy pins and return them to national.
Its worth considering. |
before we get all that started... lemme get carolyn on here - she explained something to me last week that might be a bit of information we could all use.

HI All,
Regarding the suggestion to start a group to buy up badges on e-bay that is pretty much a guaranteed way to start seeing our badges appear on e-bay and end up at high prices. I don't recall who or where i heard this from but I seem to remember some national personnel saying that Phi Sig didn't want to start a "rescue" group for just that reason. Here's a possible scenario - I'm a badge collector/seller. I post a badge on ebay and see that there's a couple people bidding on it (probably rescuers). The price keeps going up, all the better for the seller, since neither of the two bidders has contacted the other to see if they are members of that particular org. Regarding no contact, this happened to me, I bid on some historical memorabila wanting to give it to CO - I emailed someone who was bidding against me to see if she was a Phi Sig. I never received a response back despite a couple of emails. There wasnt anything in her profile about Phi Sig. So I kept bidding on the items until it got to the point where I couldn't afford it and let the other person win, praying it was a sister. Turns out it was a sister who donated the items to CO. If she had only responded to my email, I would have stopped bidding and she couldn't have gotten the stuff for about $25-30 then in the $100's. Anyway, back to the ebay seller selling the badge. He starts to notice how the bids are starting to go higher as rescuers try to buy the badge. He does something unethical but hard to prove - he talks a buddy in to signing on to ebay with a profile of badge collector and bidding on the item. Now as soon as a sisters sees badge collector they're more then likely going to bid more money. So the seller's friend bids higher to drive the bid up. The seller is going to win either way - he's going to realize there is a max that the sister is willing to pay and tell his friend to stop bidding. He got a higher price for the item then he would have originally got. Or if the friend was to win the seller can do one of two things - claim the person didn't pay for the item and offer it to the last honest bidder at the price bid or list it again (possibly under a different name) and have his friend push the bids up again - this time he knows the price to stop bidding at so the rescuer gets the badge. Again inflated pricing - as other collectors start to see how much the badges are going for they'll start searching the pawn shops, estate sales, etc trying to find the badges just to post. Sorry for the long post. There was a thread in Chit Chat or Greek Life about ebay and rescuers. You might want to read through some of the threads to see what badge rescuers and others have to say. Carolyn |
It was just an idea that I had heard elsewhere... There will always be badge collectors and sellers. And, whatever gets saved gets saved.
