Man alot of hostility in some of the C&C online article responses. Im starting to like it now that random people are throwing out a comment here and there.

Poor Bill
Bill Farkas is the 'Cat Herder in Chief'. When he walked in the financial house was a wreck, numbers were down, and the undergraduates sometimes questioned the value of Indianapolis. He will have his hands full for a year or two.
Yet he isn't blowing smoke about it. The information is accurate and he isn't sugar coating it. Despite all this there is hope and passion - and the ability to make it happen. Sounds like my kind of Brother. |
Audio Cross & Crescent
Brothers,
The Electronic C&C now has an Audio version! The first three audio issues can be downloaded at the magazine site. So, those Brothers who can't or don't want to read from a computer screen now have the option of printing a copy (with some different content) or downloading the audio version. I listened to this month's C&C magazine (Isn't that a strange idea? Listening to a magazine...) this morning and enjoyed it. It was a professional product with good sound and a good reader. Give it a try. Oh, high speed connection is a must to download. A dial-up will take about 4 hours! I listened to my copy with the built-in Windows Media Player. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Zeta-Upsilon Zeta |
Hopefully they will being podcasting it. I'd really enjoy that. Maybe they could even get some "celebrity brother" guest readers, LOL! It'd be like the old time radio shows...

The February Issue of the C&C is Online
Brothers,
The fourth issue of the Electronic Cross and Crescent is online. This makes four issues in a row that have been produced on time. I think that this issue is quite good. A nice selection of topics, lots of interactivity, and a professional layout. Be sure to check out the "Special Valentine" sidebar, don't overlook the Blog, and try the Podcast feature. Give Jason and Chris a big "pat on the back" for another great issue of the C&C. Be sure to leave feedback. Jono, I liked your comments on the "Smoot" article! Stay tuned, Mike Raymond, Zeta-Upsilon Zeta |
Brother Mike, especially enjoyed your Emily Butterfield article and relayed it to the AGD Thread.
Amazing How intertwined We as GLOs really are. |
I agree great article.
|
Thank You!
Brothers,
I really appreciate your kind words. I enjoyed doing the research about her for the article. I also thought the information about BPA and Balfour maintaining departments to create everything for a fraternity or sorority was interesting too. I would like to get my hands on the archives of those two companies. Can you imagine what treasures they hold? Your in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Z-U Zeta |
Mike, You would probably have such an orgasmic experience You would not be with us any more!:)
Also sent Link to The President of AGD! Thought She might enjoy it! She Did!!!!! Many Thanks! |
The March Cross & Crescent is On-line!
Brothers,
The March Cross & Crescent is on-line. This makes the fifth issue of the magazine published on-line and on time! That is 80 pages of information so far. I recommend reading the "Recruitment" article. It addresses some of the issues raised here about our declining membership. Don't forget the "podcast" and the printable pdf versions of the C&C. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Zeta-Upsilon Zeta |
Mike,
Loved your most recent article and left a comment. I think it's the best yet. Great job! ZAX, Jono |
Echo, Brother Jono. He beat Me to posting on Your article!
Another Article so well done and need to go back and reread it now that I am home for the evening! Thank You for all of the investigating to get all of this information. Well Done!!!!!! |
The Sixth Issue of the Electronic C&C Has Been Posted
Brothers,
The sixth issue of the Electronic Cross & Crescent Magazine was posted early this morning. This makes six issues in a row issued on time as promised! A total of 96 pages of information about different aspects of our Fraternity have been published so far. Of particular note this time is a fine sidebar in the History Department by the one, only, and not to be duplicated Jono Hren. I hope that this is the first of many by Brother Jono! I have noticed that some of our Zetas are linking their webpages to the magazine. I think that is a great idea! Please do what you can to pass the word that this new version of the C&C is on line. Finally, remember that you can print out a version of the magazine. It is different in some respects from the electronic issue of the C&C. In any case, enjoy.... Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Zeta-Upsilon Zeta |
I just finished reading the April C & C and again found another interesting Article into The History of LXA!
Thanks again Mike Raymond!:) I am sure I can see Brother Jonos hand print in the Article also!:) |
Mike Raymond wrote the excellent article on the Expositor.
I only did the sidebar (at his request). ZAX, Jono |
The May Issue of the Cross & Crescent
Brothers,
The May issue of the electronic version of the Cross & Crescent magazine was posted early this morning. This is the seventh issue of the C&C that has appeared on time as promised. This represents 114 pages of new material since the magazine first appeared in November, 2005. Of course, there is much more to this issue than meets the eye! How about a slide show? A Blog? Podcast? The magazine is very "interactive," with many words and illustrations linked to more "stuff!" A very rich experience if you take the time to look at it! I hope you enjoy it and find it worthy of our Fraternity. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Z-U Zeta |
Thanks again Mike-docroc for another great insight on LXA of Old!:)
There is so much to catch and went back from the links tha I had forgotten. Ordered Da Vinci Code to check out Rene' of Anjou! Got a funny from Jono about the Brother on the Braille sustem. A nice bit of insight tid bit. This is waht I enjoy so much. History of LXA that so many do not ever know. I impart to My Zeta and it is only 40 years Old of our History. So small a pitentence of Life! Thanks Mike for another Job Well Done! |
Re: Online Magazine Tells Stories - May
Isn't it interesting how religion seems to bring out the best in everyone?

An interesting little "drama" is being played out in the latest issue of the C&C. It appears that the Da Vinci Code continues to "ruffle some feathers!" How we get from the DaVinci Code to homosexuality, Satan, and the need for all to believe in some particular religious doctrine to be "saved" is beyond me. The Bible, in my opinion, has been used to justify about any belief anyone wanted to impose on others. Of course, people have a wonderful capacity to see things, even the same thing, in many different ways. In pre-Civil War America, both sides of the slavery issue used the Bible to justify their positions. It took a war, another 100 years, and the Civil Rights Act to gain general acceptance that Blacks were not property but people entitled to civil rights. Of course the debate goes on.... You might want to check out the "Online Magazine Tells Stories" article by Jason Pearce in this month's issue of the C&C. You might even want to jump in on one side or the other of the discussion! Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Zeta-Upsilon Zeta |
The Bible has always be suspect.
But, what is amazing, it keeps coming up what really semi happened. It is a Historical Book that is being proven daily! But There are so many things that have happened sense the beginning of time. I did buy ther Da Vincci Code to make a Reference to see what is happening!:D I am not sure who was really there who wrote anything! |

Did You Know that Lambda Chi Alpha Now Has 250,000 Members?
Brothers,
You can read about this significant event in the June issue of the "Cross and Crescent" magazine. Plus much more.... It is available right now, and once again on time, at our IHQ website home page. Good reading! Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Z-U Zeta |
Nicely done once again Mike.
History will not be lost on Your account. Funny thinking that being a sort of A member of this particular denomination how closely intertwined with Brother Cole and I actually were. Oh well, Jono, We are Brothers anyway!:D Maybe there will be a real revelation in the near future if The Detectives of LXA and GC can find Our Spiritual Founder Warren A. Cole. What a story that would be! |
I kind of miss...
I kind of miss getting the magazine in the mail the way I used to. I understand that this way is cheaper, but I loved having the magazine in print and showing it off to my family.
|
Agree, but cost and new technology have given us a new look.
How many Printed C & C has anyone actually kept? |

You can print a copy of the magazine in PDF format. It is actually quite different in layout and, in some small ways, content from the electronic version of the C&C. My Mom likes it when I mail her a copy.... Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Zeta-Upsilon Zeta |
I used to keep all of mine, but then I also still have all of my old MAD Magazine copies from the 80s as well as my football cards from back in the day. My wife found my Shaquille O'Neal rookie card just two days ago and wondered why I still have all of the same junk I did when I lived with my parents. She just doesn't understand....
|
I have every copy of the cross & crecent since I joined Lambda Chi back in '98. And some older ones that I bought on Ebay and and a magazine I got from Theta Kappa Nu.
|
Theta Kappa Nu had a magazine? Yeesh, that thing is probably worth more than my old comic books.
|
Quote:
Yes, indeed! It was called the Theta News. They come up on eBay from time to time. Normally, they command big bucks. I have most of them. Some of the history articles in the C&C contain references to the Theta News. They also had a secret publication called The Inescutheon. July Issue of The Cross & Crescent Magazine
Greetings!
The next issue of the Cross & Crescent Magazine will launch tonight after midnight. This will be the 9th consecutive issue of the magazine published on time and as promised! Ready for some controversy? Read the article about the international anthem of Lambda Chi Alpha: "Magic Carpet Ride!" I can't wait to read the "Letters to the Editor" about this one! Ever hear of the Commons Clubs? Learn about this organization's influence on some of our earliest Zetas in the July issue of the C&C. Stay Tuned.... Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Z-U Zeta |
Can we really call Magic Carpet Ride an "international anthem"? Heck, to be honest it has absolutely zero to do with the fraternity.
|
:)
Tell that to the many Brothers who play it every chance and do the circle dance!:D While I thought LX Z was the only one who played it, I found out differently after I came on GC!!!!!;) Adopted as it may have been done, it is now widely accepted! |
I agree with Cube TX. Not every brother considers it an "anthem". Now, Robin Hood, that's a good song - because I wrote it. You just can't dance to it. :)

Mike one of the best articles written by You!
I love the Historical aspect as You know!:) |
I emailed IHQ C & C and asked about more information about Zeta who are in trouble and why, expansion. via Colony or Re-Chartering closed Zetas.
I complained about it getting back to Highlighting Grand Alums. It was passed on to me that it is better to put positive spin rather than negative. I also said that there are many Alums who would like to know the info as We do spend money with Local Zetas and IHQ. If it gets back to We are neato and dont explain what is going on then what? |
New edition
The August edition of the C & C just hit the wire.
Enjoy all |
One of the better ones!
Mike Raymonds Harry S Truman article was really enjoyable as I knew Harry (Brother) Truman, but was before I became a LXA. Also has a Pix of our New House and Yard Sign that two Brothers put together. Thanks Mike, cannot wait to see the Warren Cole article. |
The September, 2006 Cross and Crescent Magazine has Arrived
Brothers,
The latest issue of the C&C Magazine was released as promised and on time! Please take some time and give it a read. A special "thank you" to Jono for his research that clarified and corrected a few important points in the "history" article. Thank you good Brother Jono! Tom, I think that you will like this article's material on Doolittle and Truman. By the way, Tom is very knowledgable about Truman and has a number of great memories and stories about the Truman family. Enjoy.... Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond Z-U Zeta |
