Xylochick216 11-23-2005 08:17 PM

I walked out of the movies a few minutes ago to SNOW pouring down :D Our meteorologist said we wouldn't get any, but we are. It's sticking a little, but I'm not expecting much to last.

SigKapBling 11-23-2005 09:09 PM

SOOO JEALOUS!! I MISS NY AND THE SNOW AND ALL THE SUPER COLD WEATHER :(

Lived in WV for 23 years, saw tons of snow... Moved to MD, currently live in VA...

I HATE SNOW!!! I DO NOT MISS INCHES OF SNOW FROM NOVEMBER TO MARCH!!!

:p

Private I 11-23-2005 10:02 PM

Just found out it's snowing in Belgrade.

After living over 7 years in Tallahassee, I'll be spending 2 weeks in Boston over Christmas break to see my sister. My parents sent me my old snow boots and they don't fit anymore=( I won't have anything to wear...

PinkRose1098 11-23-2005 11:00 PM

So far there is about mabye two inches on my porch! It seems so strange to me to have snow for Thanksgiving! But I did manage to take some fun BW pictures of it.

AOX81 11-24-2005 11:01 AM

Looks like we got a couple inches last night. :( I hate snow. :(

aephi alum 11-24-2005 11:42 AM

We got some snow last night, which stuck to trees and grassy surfaces. It was kind of pretty, actually, As it got light out, I could look out and see snow on the trees and the lawn... yet the streets are ok.

lifesaver 11-25-2005 05:07 AM

It was 83 here today.

AGDee 11-25-2005 06:48 AM

I went to bed around 12:30 am on Wednedsay night/Thursday morning. Woke up at 9 to find a snowman on my front lawn. Turns out the boys (21 & 25) next door and their friends were drinking last night, came home and made about 4 snowmen in the neighborhood. It was hilarious. Only problem is, they all fell over... LOL. Maybe I'll see if I can fix it today.

PM_Mama00 11-25-2005 11:53 AM

Lol aww that's kinda hilarious! But mostly cute. How did you find out they were drunk and did that?

AGDee 11-25-2005 12:13 PM

Their mom called me to make sure I had somewhere to go for Thanksgiving and I asked if the boys had made snowmen. She said "Yeah, they were out pretty late and came back drunk and wanting to play in the snow". It definitely cracked me up.

AlphaFrog 11-25-2005 12:16 PM

There's definatly much worse things drunk people could do in the snow...

Buttonz 11-25-2005 02:00 PM

I love the snow...yet hate the cold. Does this make me weird?

AGDee 11-25-2005 05:17 PM

My son understands how you feel. He said to me the other day that he likes snow, but hates when it is cold and doesn't snow. He said "Then it's just cold for no reason".

Yay! Someone else agrees with me! It's true...cold without the snow is no fun at all :(

Tom Earp 11-25-2005 07:16 PM

MoonStar17 11-28-2005 12:18 PM

I have never seen snow :(

I live in Miami where it is still hot, the coldest we have gotten so far has been 60's and with the sun out it really doesnt feel cold at all...

id like to see snow though...even for just a day..

jharb 11-28-2005 12:29 PM

Is it bad that I want snow just to play with my new 4wheel drive? I want to test out my all weather/all terrain tires! :)

UofISigKap 12-05-2005 10:35 PM

Mmmm, snow is good when I get school cancelled for it. :D

bluefish81 12-06-2005 01:26 AM

It's starting to feel like it's snowing every day lately. And it's only December. Yikes!

Buttonz 12-06-2005 10:06 AM

We were supposed to get 6-8inches....wund up with what looks like maybe an inch with an inch more on the way....

jharb 12-06-2005 11:11 AM

It's almost too cold here to snow, I wish it would snow instead of icing everywhere! :(

It's in the single digits, and there's sprinklings but nothing is sticking (except to the hood of my new car...and ice, lots of ice on my windshield). It's weird.

MoonStar17 12-06-2005 12:30 PM

I wish it were cooler .. i hate miami

ME!!!!!!!!
I want to move back to South Florida so bad. I really miss it on days like this when I have to start my morning with scraping ice off my windshield.

I'm not a meteorologist (I don't have the cheesy smile for it), but it can definitely be too cold to snow - IIRC there is a temp range in which snowfall is 'maximized', and below a certain level snow will not escape clouds readily.

Science is awesome.

I know the closer it is to 32 the better the snow. The colder it gets the harder it is for it to snow as is evident here in Indy currently.

lifesaver 12-06-2005 03:29 PM

Yep. The warmer the air, the more moisture it can hold. The colder, the less moisture the air can hold. You need moisture in the air for it to snow or rain. The temp difference also explains how you get dry powerdy snow vs. wet heavy sticky snow. The temperature at which such snow was made. Generally speaking, it wont snow below about 24 - 25 degrees F.

<---------------Was a meterology major for a while.

RACooper 12-06-2005 04:59 PM

Which of course it was up here today.... again also the reason why Tim Hortons Coffee is soooo popular up in Canada - we need it.

Xylochick216 12-06-2005 07:23 PM

Our 6-12 inches we were supposed to get Sunday night turned out to be about 1-2 inches. I hate it when they tell everyone to expect a ton and we get nothing. We're supposed to get more Thurs. night, but we'll see if we actually get anything.

This is EARLY snow for Virginia! We usually don't get it til the new year. The freaky thing is that the farmer's almanac predicted the snow for Monday and later this week. It says we're going to get a lot of snow in January and February, so hopefully it will be right :) I love snow.

PlymouthDZ 12-06-2005 07:52 PM

we got 3 inches from aorund dinner time yesterday to the wee hours of this morning - and they let us out 2 hours early yesterday and we had a 2 hour delayed opening this morning -

I KNEW I moved to maryland for a reason! ;)

(I LAUGHED at my co-workers - freaking out over 3 inches... we're still be going to class and it would be NOTHING if I were still up in NH!) :D

Optimist Prime 12-06-2005 09:04 PM

We got out of work yestarday b/c of snow. I like snow now. As long as it doesn't ice, which it usually does in after the new year.

aephi alum 12-07-2005 12:00 AM

Last night we got "the storm that wasn't". The forecasts had said 5-7" at one point. We got less than an inch.

UofISigKap 12-07-2005 12:54 AM

There is already the "pre-buzzing" about the storm that will hit Virginia this Thursday evening...could I really have two days off in one week?

You know, some of my co-workers follow the Farmer's Almanac every year and swear by it. This year may be the one that really makes me wonder if I should be picking up my own copy next year. How is it so accurate?! Very weird!

Honeykiss1974 12-07-2005 01:57 AM

6 degrees outside and its beginning to snow here in Kansas.

I could use some Timmie's right about now:(

In order to get one in Detroit, I would either have to cross the border or go out near the 'burbs of Detroit....the border would be the closest option!

I cant even get second cup here...just starbucks.

Kevlar281 12-07-2005 05:03 AM

It's still in the 60's in Houston.

tinydancer 12-07-2005 09:32 PM

It started sleeting on the way to work this morning and continued off and on all day. We all left school at 3:15 - right on time - but then spent half an hour in the parking lot de-icing our car windows.

I'm sure the double-double shakes will pass... well eventually - you'll either find a lesser substitute or just be forced into cold turkey. :p
