I agree about Cookout's food, but their shakes are to die for! I miss making Cookout runs at 2 AM for their yummy shakes.

Im going Jack in the box. That place is HORRIBLE..... I am so glad they dont have any near me. I know in NC where we used to live they were all over and all bad. I just came back from NC and decided to try it one more time, and it was HORRIBLE still....

etahannah 10-24-2005 09:14 AM

panera...

i consider it to be fast food!

i used to work there and people swarmed there durning lunch! insane! people love it and think it is healthier than fast food....ummm NO. it isnt.

their combo sandwich has TWICE the calories of a big mac...

what do you think about panera?

*dances a hungry dance*

honeychile 10-24-2005 10:39 AM

I admit it, I love Panera. Of course, I like the idea that they have outside seating and puppies can eat there, too! I especially like their French Onion soup & Asiago Roast Beef sandwich.

etahannah 10-24-2005 10:43 AM

i love puppies!!
*dances a puppy dance*

they have good sweets too...and cinn crunch bagels...i used to be a manager there and could eat all of it for free...i kinda overate it as you can imagine with working over 40 hours per week...

Their corporate HQ is 5 miles from my parent's new house.....just a little factoid.

Ever been to JBX? What a laugh that was.

Ewwwww - I forgot about Jack in the box. They are definately on the nasty list.

Arby's is also overrated. They're not bad - they just cost too much for what they have.

I love Panera bread.

etahannah 10-24-2005 01:19 PM

umm...how about white house?!?!?!?

i have never ate there - never was allowed when i was little. my dad said that there 5 holes in their burgers cause it took five hits to kill the rat to make the burger. EW....

anyone ever eat there?

*dances a gross dance*

epchick 10-24-2005 03:39 PM

I don't know if it's all over the country, but I also have to go with CARLS JR. All i have is one word to say about this restaurant....YUCK!! and its expensive yucky food!!

Carls Jr, in the midwest, is Hardy's, witht eh yellow star and all.

Menu's different slightly, but that nasty $6 burger is still on there....

Hardee's is definitely nasty. Every one I have ever been in is disgusting. The food isn't good, either, unless it's breakfast, but I'd still rather have Biscuitville any day.

I love Panera. Ours is finally opening next month, and I am the most excited person in town!

I think Dairy Queen's real food is nasty. They should stick to what they know best--ice cream.

hottytoddy 10-25-2005 12:34 AM

OK I love McDonalds, and Arby's, and Pizza Hut...and I like most of the other places you all have mentioned. Subway, Hardees, Quiznos, Subway, DQ, KFC etc...I like all those.

I am really strange when it comes to Fast food---I even like Captain D's--or Captain Disease as my friends call it. Although I don't eat fast food as much as it sounds like in this post....maybe once a week (I cook a lot)

I DON'T like Burger King and Jack in the Box....any place that serves Burgers and tacos deserves to be on the nasty list.

tinydancer 10-25-2005 10:31 AM

Now you've gone and brought back memories of the nightly study break when we would walk over to the Jack in the Crack on the Drag.

But back on the subject: I think Quizno's is over-rated (clap clap - clap clap clap.) And to go a notch up from fast food to chains, I have never gotten anything good at Chili's. My best friend loves it, but I fail to see the appeal.:(

You're giving bland a bad name by saying Wendy's is bland. Wendy's aspires to be bland.

Seriously, I've never understood why anyone (Ms. MysticCat included) thinks Wendy's is the preferrable fast food restaurant. The only thing Wendy's has going for it: "At least we're not Hardees."

NO MONICA DANCES HERE!!!!!! Thank heavens!!

I worked out of the White House for a while. Never got to any of the really nice dinner dances, but I have had breakfasts & lunches there. They do have (or did have) a good chef!

WCUgirl 10-25-2005 12:29 PM

Wendy's lost my business when they got rid of their salad bar.

I really don't eat fast food, except for Quizno's and Subway, which I'll get for lunch if I'm in a hurry.

I would never, ever try anything from Jack in the Box. And they are everywhere here.

etahannah 10-25-2005 12:42 PM

what about Rally's?

i have never ate there but i cant imagine it being good...

thoughts??

ohhhh, now I want to cry. I miss Wendy's salad bar. Their taco salad used to be OK until they redid it.

Oh and as far as Rally's...that is one of those places where you go when you want food that you know is crappy and bad for you. It's so bad that it's almost good. But only like once or twice a year. Our Rally's have all disappeared, I thought they went out of business entirely.

RedRoseSAI 10-25-2005 01:12 PM

Panera - totally overated. Of course, it probably doesn't help that it's one of the few options for lunch near my office and I've had just about everything on the menu, but anyway...

These two aren't really fast-food, but I feel like complaining today:

Domino's Pizza - Yuck, yuck, YUCK! I seriously can not even finish one slice. The sauce is disgustingly sweet and the crust is cardboard. I honestly don't know how they stay open in Chicago (or for that matter, NYC...do they have Domino's in NYC?) when there are so many places to get a real pizza.

Olive Garden - It kills me when people say this is my favorite restaurant. At a company where I used to work, one year we gave OG gift certificates to one of my bosses. As we were discussing the gift certificates, I was the only one going, "Um, guys...does she really like Olive Garden?" They assured me she did. Sure thing, after we presented the coupons, she sent out an e-mail saying "Oh my gosh, thank you! Olive Garden is my favorite restaurant!" Barf.

tunatartare 10-25-2005 01:16 PM

There are tons of Domino's Pizza in NYC.

PoohsHoneyBee 10-25-2005 01:56 PM

i'm sure every texan will hate me for saying this, but i don't like whataburger...

TristanDSP 10-25-2005 01:56 PM

The $5 little Ceasars Pizza is a good deal, but gosh, it's the worst tasting pizza of all the big chains....

And the last to offer delivery......

Ditto to Domino's, their deep dish got old.

Papa Johns....mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Rally's had good curly fries. That was about it, though.

I hate all those nasty places you find at mall food courts, i.e. Great Steak & Potato Co., Mr. Wok, etc. None of them are any good.

33girl 10-25-2005 02:37 PM

Since we are getting into pizza...how widespread is/was Four Star? Gaack, that stuff was disgusting even when we were in college and flat broke.

You don't like the double quarter pounder with cheese? Blasphemy!

If you're not familiar with the term peristalis (sp?), eat one of the big burgers at Hardee's for a quick review. Tom, ever eat at Chipotle?

TristanDSP 10-25-2005 10:15 PM

HOW COULD I FORGET CHIPOTLE???

Talk about not getting what you pay for, 6 bucks for a burrito half the size you'd get at a Roberto's or something.

And, it doesn't taste THAT good. Rubios is better.

Isn't Chipotle owned by McD's?

Honeykiss1974 10-25-2005 10:29 PM

Hardee's definitely. Out here, they are only located at truck stops so you already know what it probably taste like. BLAH!

Applebee's is another place that is just TIR-ED.

I like Chipotle's although I've only had their hardshell grilled chicken tacos. YUM

 you don't like Whataburger?!!! How is that possible?! Whataburger is like...the greatest burger chain!! SOoooooooooooooooooo good! Fatty, but good;)

jess_pom 10-26-2005 12:33 PM

I'm gonna toss out Five Guys, Jerry's Subs and Fazoli's. Five Guys are popping up all over the DC metro area but I think they're overpriced and not that great. You do get a lot of fries, though. Jerry's is also overpriced for all the more you get. I loved Fazoli's when I worked at Cedar Point, but the past couple times I've had it it hasn't been as good as I remembered. Their breadsticks are still pretty good, though!

honeychile 10-26-2005 12:35 PM

I've only had one Whataburger, and it was unmemorable as being bad or good. We went because we liked the logo! :D

Rollergirl2001 10-26-2005 03:45 PM

One more restaurant I forgot to mention:

KFC. Its chicken strips taste like beer. Yuck!

NOOOOOO...I love Amigos! But that's probably b/c I live in Missouri and there is nothing like that here. It's only good when you're extremely, extremely wasted. Nothing is better than a crisp meat burrito when you're drunk. Now I want Amigo's and I will have to wait until the end of November to have it! (I miss Amigo's, Runza, and Valentino's like it's my job when I'm at school...I didn't really care for them until I no longer had them, go figure! ;) )

right. how can the spaghetti be mediocre at an "Italian" restaurant.

I'm gonna have to go with:
Quiznos
Olive Garden
Uno's (I'm biased though, I live close to Chicago so I can eat REAL pizza there)
and...
Chipotle. I prefer Qdoba waaaaaaaaay more.
