Unless you actually live in Iowa (especially the east side of the state) and then you get Hawkeye bs shoved down your throat until you want to gag (if you're not a Hawkeye fan, that is. If you are a Hawk fan, you think there needs to be even more media coverage about the team and you name your sons Hayden and Kinnick.)

SEC football is never overrated. ;) To bad USC doesn't play teams like Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, or LSU. The do play Arkansas but they are push overs so USC should cream them.

You live about 30 minutes from Kinnick. I can't imagine how you would expect anything else . . . for what it's worth, the Register goes out of its way to get up on ISU, for no apparent reason . . . as do the Des Moines TV broadcasters. Stop whining.

Oh really? Is that why season ticket packages were $99 last season (the 'big game' was at Kinnick)?

-RC
--i love it i love it i love it
---Valkyrie don't talk about it, be about it - and Iowa will not win the Big 10, they have the toughest possible schedule . . . At OSU, P-Due, and Badgertown in Alvarez's last game. Sorry, be realistic, root for fucking OSU.

Season tickets for ISU games were $99? I don't think so.

For Letterwinners Club members, season tickets are $195; for general public they're $220. That's only $60 less than season tickets for the Hawks. They've been about that the last few years.

I can whine all I want, I still let my husband go to Iowa football games. I'm not even forcing him to go to Iowa State's homecoming so he can go to the Iowa/Michigan game.

:p Well, I shouldn't have said they are overrated. I do believe however that this is a down year for them. Why? Too many good teams (as usual), but no great teams. Everyone will simply just beat up on each other (the way how every other conference beats up on each other). I guess the one team that I do believe that is overrated is Tennessee. I think Florida is the best team in the conference but they are punished since they are the only team in the conference with balls in facing a pretty tough non conference schedule (miami and fsu). All other SEC teams usually schedule pancakes (at home) and it is very rare to see them return the favor in a home and home game.

While my alliance is with the Pac 10, the SEC is my second favorite conference to watch. Not because I believe the quality of play is better but because the fans are the craziest fans bar none. The only crazier fans I can think of are mexican soccer fans who pee on american players, or british hooligans. Did I mention that Ole Miss is my favorite outside of USC. :)

My next question for all of you. Who do you think the best conference is?

I think top to bottom it is the Big 10. However, the ACC's top four I would put up against anyone.

The only people that call Texas 'TU' are aggies. Surely you're not one of them. All you USC and Big 10 types need not worry, Texas will not win the Big XII unless Norman and College Station happen to be swallowed by the Earth.

What the heck happened to Pittsburgh? Losing to Ohio? Makes the Notre Dame win seem less a big deal.

HEY!
Come on, we all know what a national powerhouse we Bobcats are!

CougADPi 09-10-2005 01:34 AM

GO COUGS! WSU 55-21 over Nevada. Definitely makes up for the lackluster performance against Idaho last week. 2-0 going into Grambling next week (I know, I know...Grambling shouldn't be a challenge, but we Cougs have learned not to take ANYONE for granted!)

Holey shit that game was huge! Boy was I wrong. I thought Michigan was going to win.

Notre Dame is playing HUUUUUUUUGE.

Michigans QB sucks more than Jenna Jameson.

Perhaps Michigan is just way overrated. But we shouldn't take away their incredible effort today. Their offense is still suspect, and its either their defense was just incredible today or Michigans offense just plain sucks. I'm guessing a combination of both. Michigan obviously took Notre Dame lightly, and that bit them in the ass.

Yes. The old winning Notre Dame is back. I guess the coach can make a big difference.

valkyrie 09-10-2005 07:24 PM

LOL oh man if Iowa is going to suck as much as they did today, they don't deserve to make it to a bowl game. Yeek.

kafromTN 09-10-2005 08:07 PM

I like that he has the players Willingham recruited to show that coaching has a lot to do with it.

I liked Weis attitude at halftime of the Pitt game, the reported asked if he was happy with the way they have played, he said somethign to the effect of, I wouldn't get too happy there's still 30 minutes of football to play.

God I hate Spurier. He always gives Georgia a hard time. This is the only the second time Georgia has ever beat him.

GO DAWGS!!!!! With help from an Alpha Gam

Okay, so I'm watching our big screen tv downstairs with GTech on 1 side and GA:D on the other side. Both games are close...

I am sitting there getting nervous b/c I know how sudden games can turn and that Spurrier is a rodent...so...

I gather my Chocolate series book written by my Alpha Gam sister :D :D about all the good things that happen to people when things look back...

So..I'm clutching my hands and trying to focus on the TV and trying not to get too involved in case things go bad and I can say oh well..((okay I know that's not a positive attitude...just a psych thing I do))

Course GTech and GA win!!! And Spurrier is still a rodent.
Just cause he is coaching at a school in the state where I was born doesn't mean I have to like him.)
:D

What a great football game.

The1calledTKE 09-11-2005 12:19 AM

I just heard on ESPN that Tom Brady had a bet with the Notre Dame coach. Since Michigan lost Brady has to wear a Notre Dame hat for the press conference on Monday.

That will have to sting for him and Michigan fans since he was one of their biggest heros.

The1calledTKE 09-11-2005 12:32 AM

I am really looking foward to the USC/ Notre Dame game now.

BobbyTheDon 09-11-2005 12:53 AM

WOW

The ASU/LSU game was INSANE. INSANE.

so much for my predictions right? Michigan, Ohio State and ASU? Horrrrrrendous Bobby.

Helluva game for LSU. Great great game.

Wake.

One is a pathetic DI football team, the other is just BARELY a DI team. If you ask me, the best team in the state of Nebraska plays in Omaha, not Lincoln.

Notre Dame might be for real. Its amazing that with the same talent that Willingham had, Wiess is able to get such better results. Iowa, wow, talk about pissing a season down your legs. Way to get it over with in the 2nd game of the season to the 'clowns though. A team that if it wasn't for Baylor, would be the laughingstock of the Big XII. Texas eeked that one out by the skin of their teeth. I stand by my prediction though, they will lose to either OU or aTm.

The1calledTKE 09-11-2005 09:12 AM

I am proud of LSU. Having to deal with Katrina, having their home game moved to Arizona State, and hearing all the smack that they would not beat a ranked team away because of everything that has happen. They still managed to win.

Good job LSU.

Go SEC.

KSig RC 09-11-2005 11:13 AM

I got motherfucking pummeled yesterday. I've had some bad days, but never that bad. Surreal.

I can't believe they just quit when Manson came in - ISU didn't even play well, they just quit. Fuck.

Did anyone see the catch by that Bama receiver???

Unbelievable!

Here's the link to the clip:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/index

on the right click on Top Videos then College Football. Then when it lists the videos it says something about Crimson Tide Finds themselves all wet....that's the clip. You won't believe it.

AUDeltaGam 09-12-2005 12:39 AM

I wish ESPN had a video clip of one of the touchdowns Auburn made during the Miss State game. Miss State had the ball at their 5 yard line. They throw it, and their reciever fumbles it and drops it. An Auburn player grabs it and makes a touchdown. It was incredible :D

I didn't watch the clip, but i imagine that's the one where the dude catches it behind the Southern Miss' player's head. That was bad ass, although i was hoping USM would have won that one so Conference USA would have looked better, then they would have been on the news on how much they endured [5 days without electricity or water in Hattiesburg and how they have to practice at the Univeristy of Memphis in order to prepare for the game].

KSigkid 09-12-2005 08:52 AM

UConn is 2-0...it's against two awful teams, but I'll take it.

Actually, last year, you could buy tickets for $99. The seats weren't good. Upper deck. Maybe 10 yard line down to the end zone on the NW side. My sister and I chipped in and bought my dad a pair for a father's day gift. You weren't required to contribute to the NCC, but I was already a member so it boosted my points level.

They aren't selling them for that cheap this year.

P.S. I care about more than just the ISU-Iowa game.
