There is a UW group on the facebook called "My Winter Coat is a Bottle of Booze."

I can't lie; I've done it.

If a GLO is far from their HQ, they dont get visits?

Do You have Paid ELCs as We call them that are paid to do visits or do You have Volunteers?

Many NIC/NPCs some that I know use just volunteers.

If You have a Chapter at Alaska or Hawaii it could be extremly costly but You dont. Do You?

That is never an excuse. Your GLO doesnt have people who live in close proimity to their area of responsiblity?

One of Your Sisters caught hell-o over a post that said Her Chapter was having problems and got little or no advice. I have talked to Her and she is not a wide eyed Alum who was just compaining and sounded like there was a real problem at the chapter.

So, what do You advise? Not to Me, but Her?

I have no idea what post you are talking out.

Gamma Phi Beta has collegiate leadership consultants. Each chapter receives a visit at least once a year. HOWEVER, when your chapter is located in rural Wisconsin as opposed to Milwaukee or Madison, there is not an alumnae base to keep an eye on you.

ZZ-kai- 09-18-2005 07:48 PM

I beg to differ.

Is Wisconsin different? Do sorority girls mostly not party at fraternity shin-digs?

Almost every fraternity party I have been at several campuses has had a lot of sorority girls. But its always the fraternities that get in trouble for it.

I am not saying the sororities should get in trouble, but when ever this type of situation is posted on GC sorority girls act horrified that boys would throw these parties, and admonish the boys for doing so.

I can only think that the sorority girls that do this are at campuses where their sisters don't go to fraternity parties.

There is competition among fraternities to throw parties to get girls from the sororities to come. It enhances the fraternity social life and leads to the brothers' increased dating prospects.

The fraternities that obey all the rules get a lot of respect . . but little attention.

So yes. Fraternity chapters violate risk management procedures daily. Often to the benefit of our fellow greek sororities.

Since everyone on this site knows this and understands the reality, is it really fair to kick us when we are down?

ZZ-kai- 09-19-2005 08:22 AM

I am sorry you come from a chapter that never taught your undergrad members how important alumni are and that you have bad alumni relations within your chapter.

If you hate WI so much, and that is what this is about, don't live here. And if you already don't live here, don't come back.

I love Wisconsin. It is my favorite state in the country, since DC is not a state. I don't like the people who are all GTFO, but we have those everywhere.

I don't think fraternities NEED to throw these parties because the demand for them could be met in the non-Greek housing market. For every night that XY and GHI are throwing a party, so are 5-10 non-Greek houses. Let them get the tickets, they don't have a charter to lose.

And ZZ-kai-, I am not driving from west of Minneapolis to Platteville to support my chapter on a monthly basis. Sorry, just not. We do our support from afar, since many of our advisory positions can be done with only a yearly visit - but that means that unlike our Madison and Milwaukee chapters (and potentially Oshkosh, although I'm sure you would know more about that campus than I do) we do not have CONSTANT INCESSANT NON-STOP alumnae superversion. The only way for me to know if they are engaging in negative behavior is if somebody tells me - and nobody is going to tell their alumnae they're throwing a kegger.

ZZ-kai- 09-19-2005 09:11 AM

Stay in MN, and be sure to tell Daunte Culpepper that he sucks.

ZZ-kai- 09-19-2005 03:18 PM

You guys are not allowed to be Badgers or Packers fans anymore. Don't eat our cheese or drink our beer or milk anymore either.

I don't think somebody who didn't even go to Wisconsin-Madison gets to tell somebody who did that they can't be a Badger fan.

And coming from a farm family, I don't think you get to tell me what to do with MY cheese.

Go be a FIB.

How do you know I didn't go to UW? Just because I wasn't initiated into the Alpha Pi chapter, doesn't mean I didn't go to school there....c'mon, lets stop ass-uming. Because when you ass-ume, you make an ass out of you and you.

And yes, I really believe you grew up on a farm. Good one.

You lay off Daunte! He's the only good thing that ever came out of the UCF football program.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and douse myself in gasoline and light a match because my team has the longest losing streak in Division 1-A football history... Who the heck loses to Tampa? (No offense to you USF folks, but I just needed to have a little pity party... packing up the violins now...)

/end tangent and back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Wait. Does anyone want to come and picket with me on O'Leary's lawn...

ok ok. I'm done.

/end tangent for real

I didn't. My dad did. I grew up in a suburb full of spoiled white girls who go on to pledge top sororities. :D

About one more personal attack, or an attack on a specifically named GLO in this thread and it's over.

DeltAlum 09-19-2005 04:35 PM

I suggest that everyone go back and read the "Risk Management Guidelines" near the top of this forum.

You pay less for liquor than anywhere I know in the country. Nobody pays less for liquor than you. What do you... how? I don't know if you're using that farm subsidy money or if you're just hijacking liquor trucks, but this is f*king insane. Its volume is unbef*ckinglievable. It's staggering. I come here because basically, if I spend four days here drinking and even with the plane ticket it's cheaper than drinking in New York. How do you know when it's New Years? That's the big mystery to me. What's the difference? I've been in bars here and it's like New Year's every f*ck night! 'Oh New Year's, that's when we drink with hats on.' I've been drunker here than anyplace else I've ever been in my life. And remember this, you are not, you are not alcoholics. You, and my hat is off, are professionals."

That's all, nothing constructive to add.

This thread seriously cracks me up.

I said I didn't want to date Wisconsin fraternity guys. I'm assuming that none of them on this website want to date me either, because, uh, this is the internet. So why is everyone getting their boxers in a twist because I don't want to date them? If you're as awesome as you claim to be, I'm sure you have plenty of dating prospects. Go tap that keg of Beast and chill out.

James 09-19-2005 10:31 PM

Oh my. Thats funny.

You may not agree with GP or S&S but try to keep the disagreements civil.

I'm sure, being reasonably bright guys, you know who James is talking to.

I'm not asking you to keep it civil. I'm demanding it.

The things I mention in posts above are not only part of the guidelines for this forum, but most are also part of the Terms of Service you all agreed to when you signed on to Greek Chat.

That goes for anyone else who doesn't want to play nice.

Anyone.

I will only waste my time deleting posts for so long before I suggest to the board administrator that troublemakers be banned from the site.
