fall formal recruitment, freshman year
Formal rush ( ;) ), Fall '98 (sophomore year). I'm glad I did formal b/c I had my mind made up going into rush, and looking at ALL the groups made me realize what I was missing by limiting my choices at the offset.
I went through Formal recruitment in the Fall of 2002! I had the best time and am glad I had the experience. Even if someone didn't want to join a sorority I think that formal recruitment is a fun experience because of all the excitment it generates. It sure is hard work on the other side, but I love doing it just as much.
formal rush- fall 95 as a sophomore...of course, we couldn't rush until we were sophomores.
I went through formal, but didn't get a bid from the two sororities I had put on my pref. card, so AST gave me a snap bid the morning of bid day. So I went through bid day like everyone else, but knew where I was going, lol.
Formal Recruitment Fall 2003...I knew about COB, but I wanted a chance to see all the sororities on campus and what they had to offer and go home to a chapter that was right for me. I was very lucky and got a bid to my first choice. I would have been happy either in Tri Sigma or in my 2nd choice, but Sigma is definiately my true home. :D
through formal recruitment...i was so nervous. got my "second" choice...but have come to realize that it was my first choice!
Formal rush, Fall 2000. I was a sophomore, and at the time I thought formal was the only way to join a sorority.
Formal recruitment (deferred) - Spring 2000
Fall formal recruitment, 1998, Junior year after transferring from another school
Formal recruitment (Fall) 1997 - got my first choice!! :D
Formal Rush -- I pledged a chapter that made quota every year and was over total.
Informal Rush - it was sort of structured COB.
They had specific dates and times of parties, but you got yourself there on your own, could only stay for one party per round, but did not have to go to all houses. Then, after the third day, you did have to go back and rank. The next day you got invited to 2 prefs and from there on it was the same as formal rush. I loved it (aside from missing skits - it was no frills except for Pref). |
Formal Recruitment (Rush back then!) Freshman year, one week before school started. Got my first choice!
COR, Spring 2002, my junior year
Formal Rush (I think that was right before the terminology switch) before classes started my freshman year -- 1997.
Fall Formal recruitment - 1st semester Freshmen yr
Formal Recruitment (Spring Semester my Freshman year...deferred recruitment)--I didn't even know that COR/COB even existed until recruitment was over and some of my friends that did not rush got a bid from one of the other sororities.
Went through formal rush, was dropped by all :( . Signed up for informal rush -- as it was called then -- and got a bid from Alpha Gam on November 5, 1970.
That was 35 years ago . . . I've been an Alpha Gam almost 2/3 of my life! AGDAlum |
Formal Colony Recruitment (right after formal recruitment for all of the other soroities). The Eta Kappa Chapter of Delta Gamma was colonized in September of 2002.
Formal Rush (I am using the terms of the time). I became open rush chair and formal rush chair.
I am recruitment advisor now. So, I guess you could say that I love the "recruiting" process. ( I am a talker) |
Formal Recruitment, but you already knew that Jocelyn...
I went through COB Spring 03 (my freshman year). we have defered recruitment so it was after our formal recruitment. I didn't even know about formal recruitment till the following spring. I am happy I did the COB thing cause I didn't want to go to any other chapter and if they didn't want me then I didn't want to join. I was already on the soccer team.

Formal Fall Rush 1996.
Freshman year and I was lucky enough to move into the house Spring semester when several of the girls went to study abroad. Other sisters were already planning on filling those spots but I got really sick over winter break and had to come back to school two weeks late. One of the girls very generously gave up her spot and they arranged with my mom for me to move in the house unbeknownst to me. It was the best surprise ever when I got back to Tallahassee and really did a lot for my spirits. Plus I got an awesome seniority room with two cool senior roommates. Needless to say many of my pledge class sisters were very envious (luckily they still felt sorry for me since I had been sick) and I was very fortunate my parents were willing to pay for it since I wasn't able to get out of my dorm contract. My sisters were so awesome!!! |
COB Fall 2002
I joined through formal recruitment. Fall 2003
I joined through formal recruitment in Fall of 2001.
I joined through formal recruitment (deferred) during sophomore year after transfering from another school, 2004. I knew nothing about sororities or the different types of recruitment. Had a great experience.
COR

A COR event. It was movie night and some of the new plegdes invited me over. I then got to know a bunch of the sister and I was given my invite not even a week later at another COR event. Ice Cream It was Great!
I pledged through COR. I took a semester off before I started college so all they had was COR during my first semester.
