For the contest you had to write about someone who had treated you "decadently" (not decent). Their words, not mine. Wouldn't have been my word choice since it's quite a mouthful, but their contest and I'm not complaining because the thought of me being a finalist in an essay contest is a bit crazy too!!

I need your opinion; what do you all think.....

This contest is getting so ridiculous and it's so easy to cheat, which I have a feeling others may be doing. I could just sit at my computer and make up a bunch of email addresses, enter them in, and the votes will go up. I really don't want to do that, nor do I want to do it for the next 2 weeks until the voting is over.

Do you think we should call the sponsor and ask if they're going to somehow verify email addresses or what they're going to do to verify this is all legitimate? But then on the other hand I don't want to make a big issue out of it all because they could just cancel the whole contest.

What do you all think?

Your husband was behind by one vote, but my 4 e-mail addresses put him ahead by 3 points....and then someone else voted for him too!

Do what you have to do. Last night at 3AM she was behind by 500 votes. Today shes even? No way. Shes cheating. The company dosent care. They are just collecting email addys. If you dont think people have cheated, even for your husband, you are being naieve.

All right, I got all the email addresses in my house, my grandparents house, and a few of my friends (which I hope will be okay :D)

He's ahead by 38 votes right now, but I don't even think they're verifying email addresses - I haven't gotten a "click here to verify your email" message or anything :p

I think that it's really cool that you want to do this for your husband. I voted with all five of my email accounts.

Also...for anyone who uses AOL Instant Messenger, did you know you get a free email account with it? If you want to vote with your AIM email address, just click on the "people" option at the very top of the AIM window, select "send mail" and sign in with your AIM screenname and password and it will tell you what your email address is. It's just another address you can use that is actually verifiable to vote with, and it only takes a minute or so.
