I'm glad Tiffany made it this time. I'm so happy to see her growth.

As for Mary, the plus-sized model, I'm glad they sent her home now. It's more heartbreaking to see it later. Why do we think there will be a different conclusion with the same cast of characters???

I'm confused. I thought there was no plus model this cycle, or is this post referring to last year's cycle...I think there was a Mary who was plus-sized in Toccara's cycle.

Mary auditioned again this season. She was Tocarra's "rival" for the plus-sized model spot last season. Mary was hoping that both of them would be selected so that they could have a competition within the competiton. However, she was cut and Tocarra was kept. Mary was cut again this year because they didn't want to do the plus-sized model thing again.

In a way, I can understand because they are not on the same playing field as the other models. Tocarra was clearly at a disadvantage during some competitons because of the lack of clothing in her size. Then, with some of the comments made by the designers, Tocarra's spirit was broken. By not picking any plus-sized models, that particular model won't have to suffer through the drama.

Thank you, Soror, for clarifying.
Mary is beautiful and I think she's a bit more proportionate than Toccara. I'd like to see Toccara do some modeling in mid-end to upper-end plus (think Saks catalog), besides Ashley Stewart.

Mary was a top pick for last year. I believe that Nolan and Mr. Jay liked Mary better than Tocarra for the reason you stated. She is more proportionate and they felt she was prettier. However, she seemed to not have a personality. Tocarra came in and lit up the room. I felt sorry for Mary.

MeezDiscreet 03-04-2005 11:10 AM

brady is one un-cute chick! i know some people who know her and they said she's sweet, but model, she aint.

i can't believe that they allowed Triple H in this model competition. i am, of course, referring to the wrestling chick. not only does she lack a neck (and did i hear mrs. jay refer to her as a no-neck monster??), but she just isn't cute!!

speaking of mrs. jay, it's so funny to me that he thinks he's sexy, but not a sexy man but a sexy woman! and if "mr. jay" is more masucline than you, there is a problem!!!

LOL. I think from the movie, that is an understatement. LOL :o

BTW, that movie "spooked" me. :o

But to me they should be distinctive. And these girls were just blah. No look, no personality stood out to me.

AKA2D '91 03-04-2005 04:04 PM

IMO, Cat girl was distinctive. LOL Maybe when they had done the makeover, she wouldn't look so much like a cat. I guess it was her "attitude" that allowed her not to make the cut.

rho4life 03-04-2005 04:53 PM

I heard Tyra on 106 & Park, and she said they've been renewed for 2 more seasons of AMTM. I bet that one will be ALL plus size.

That would be interesting. If it does happen, she needs to use people like Emme and Kate Dillon as judges, not Janice Dickinson.

That would be great but for real get rid of Janice as a judge THAT SEASON. And Jayne the Blonde Headed Mongrel.

smlwonderdst 03-04-2005 05:25 PM

^^^

LOL at Jayne the Blonde Headed Mongrel

lostnfound117 03-05-2005 02:52 AM

These are some UNCUTE guhls this season. It's gonna be so lackluster. I suppose the top model for this cycle will end up like the first two....

SummerChild 03-07-2005 08:48 PM

I agree that I thought that Cat looked distinctive. Maybe it's just me but I think that a number of the girls look distinctive. I think that the African-American girl with the big red afro has a distinctive looking face (when you move all of that hair out of the way). I also think that the girl from another country (the brunette) and the girl from Arizona? with the long blond hair look distinctive.

I that the fact that Cat woman does not really have a versatile number of looks is what killed her chances. The Black guy mentioned that it was only so much that they could do with her. But she definitely had a distinctive look.

How come I was crying on Top Model *and* Road to Stardom last week. Jessica had me bawling. She was on the radio today in Chicago singing the song "Why me" that she sang during the last part of Road to Stardom.

Re: No plus model this cycle?

Soror, there was one plus sized model (she mentioned that she was the only one). She was one of the African-American finalists (but she didn't make the second cut). When she started crying saying that she was heartbroken, I was too through. I was crying up a storm.

SummerChild 03-07-2005 08:56 PM

While I felt for the woman who got tossed out with her child, I agree with the Black guy that she shouldn't have made the cut. I think that her face was a little too slender and straight down to really be a model. But what do I know? :)

Although Cat woman had an attitude, I saw so what? Lots of models have attitude. I think that as models go, she should have made it b/c she was one of the few that had a distinctive model-like look (she looks like a cat for goodness sake!) and I could see her in a magazine.

I like the look of the girl with the red fro but I do think that Tiffany from Florida is a little plain. I agree that they may have kept her in for drama value. But I'm glad that she made it. I can't deny that I screamed when she made it. I couldn't believe it.

OKAY!!! Cause MR. Jay is not very manly. LOL!!!

REALITYBLACK 03-08-2005 03:39 PM

My Aunt used to do some modeling years ago and she knows the infamous "Ms Jay" Alexander personally. Believe me, he is in no way shape or form trying to be "masculine". Besides I think it's obvious since he calls HIMSELF Ms. Jay. Anyway, Jay is the man! (for lack of a better term) He has taught many many models how to walk. There are not too many in the industry that have not passed through him.

SummerChild 03-08-2005 05:09 PM

Ok, I have been confused about this since Tyra was calling him Ms. Jay last week (it was my first ATM show). Why does he call himself a "Ms.?" I recognize his femininity but what is that all about? Somebody, please help a sister understand. What's the point?

I agree

CrimsonTide4 03-09-2005 10:38 PM

I want Brandy to STFU and go home. SHE BBBBBing and moaning all about how they were going to keep her just how she was. Then she got mad at how much they took off. Then her eyebrows. Cry me a river and then go drown.

I did not see Keenyah complaining so much as just being shocked at how that isht looked at first. Hell I would have been agitated at that isht as well.

Tyra I am still pissed that you insist on wearing that ORANGE ISHT!!!

latina_earth 03-09-2005 10:38 PM

Eva the Diva

Eva is such a DIVA, I think last season had more of a variety of girls. I'm not feeling this season so far and BRANDY is definately going home. She doesn't love her innerself - she thinks her boyfriend won't love her anymore w/o hair? Then again, she is young - 22.

She need to close that gap first and then grow some hair.

WhirlwindTNX 03-09-2005 10:41 PM

I don't know who the other girl was who didn't like her hair, but WHAT was she complaining about? Her hair looked sharp!

ETA: Sarah looks familiar....like maybe from another reality tv show

latina_earth 03-09-2005 10:45 PM

The tears and sympathy
