Kappa Alpha Theta was never a "secret society." Theta was established as the first Greek letter fraternity (not sorority) for women. When established in 1870, all existing Greek letter organizations had male only membership.

This is a fairly random place to put this, but if anyone goes to a school with both Phi Sigma Kappa and Phi Sigma Sigma...do they both go as 'phi sig'?

At my school we call phi sigma sigma, phi sig, and phi sigma kappa, phi sig kapp.

So this post drew my attention....and I googled the "great eight sororities at Stanford" and it still comes up! I thought he said he took it down?! Take a look at the site.....how funny is that!!!

ETA: That is a lot of work just to show people what he feels greek life is all about!

sdblonde07 01-19-2005 09:37 PM

I don't think this website is too big of a deal. As ADPiAkron said, the website is still up and can still be found via Google. It looks like it's just his personal views of the sororities at Stanford (with lots of pictures), and, like any personal website, should not be taken as any kind of reference guide. Also, if you do google "the great eight sororities" (with or without quotation marks) the ONLY thing that even mentions "the great eight sororities" is this guy's website.
The beauty of the internet is that people can post whatever they want for the entire world to see, regardless of whether not it is true or has any basis in reality. So...even though the website does have "stanford.edu" (a seemingly reliable source for information) in the URL, you might also that it is Jeff Lee's personal website and isn't affiliated with Stanford in any way other than the fact that Stanford is giving him hosting space.
