Well, I'm already a mother of two. My daughter's name is Courtland Elise and my son's name is Antonius Matrum. Now don't ask me about my son's middle name. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif He's named after his father so he's a Jr. Hence we call him A.J. Now according to my mother-in-law, my husband's name (first and middle) are Italian (Now ain't THAT a kick in the head? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif ) and HIS god-mother (a Caucasian woman) named him. But I guess it all worked out.
I firmly believe that we often ATTEMPT to come up with names for our children years and years before we actually HAVE them---and that's alright. But for all GCers who don't have children, this is ONE thing that MAY make you change your mind: The child's LAST name. Believe me, names haveto FIT TOGETHER and often times, the name that you chose 5 or 10 years ago may not actually fit whatever your last name may be (that is IF you're married). For example MOHAMMAD FLEMMING (now does that sound right?) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I had NO intentions of naming my daughter Courtland. But after I got married, I realized that the name that I chose some years back did not fit my husband's last name. I actually found a first name for my daughter a month before I gave birth to her. All I did was open the name book, close my eyes, and proceeded to put my finger on a name. Wherever my finger landed, that's what I was to name my daughter. Now I know that I was taking a serious risk and I do believe that God intervened. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif But it worked. My daughter's god-mother gave her the name "Elise" hours AFTER she was born. Just something to think about. |
Girl
Sabrena Michelle (that's my name) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Boy Jordan Mackenzie LeRoy (Just Kidding) Shane I wonder if parents think about how their children will be affected by the names they are giving them. |
For my future children (hopefully), here are some of the names I had in mind
~Girls~ Jordan Renee Courtney Leigh Ryan Ashley Morgan Kennedy Demerier (pronounced Deh-mar-e-yay) -Boys- Demerier (pronounced Deh-mar-e-yay) Shannon I think that unisex names are very cute, and as you can see, that's all on my list right now. I need to "branch" out though, because it's true that your child's name ultimately affects them in life. Have a blessed day! *Classy_Diva5* |

Hello ladies of DST,
My boyfriend and I often discuss this very topic, so I just had to jump in http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif ...okay for girls' names we have considered the following: 1.1st name:Brianna (somewhere in between mine and my dad's names) middle: Victoria 2.1st name:Victoria middle:Kristina (or spelled Christina;similar to my younger sister's name) boys' 1.1st name:Tavian (kinda like my boyfriend's name) middle:Jermaine (my fav football player's name http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif ) 2.Tavon Jr. (self-explanatory) 3.1st name:Tavian middle:Christopher (to go with Christina) |
What a great topic! I just know I'm going to have a girl one day. I like the way girls are adopting traditionally male names. I want to name my little girl Bradley Simone, or instaed of Simone, I'll give all my children my last name, so It can be passed on.
My bofriend is Jewish, and wants to name our sons something Biblical, so I'll leave that up to him. Boys names are hard anyway... But what do you all think about "Bradley"? ------------------ "I am not yet the author of my life; I am still it's unenlightened protagonist" ---Unknown [This message has been edited by jali0004 (edited August 17, 2001).] |

Well, I do no have any kids NOR do I plan on having any in the near future. However, I do have some names picked out. If I have a son, I am SOL because I can't come up with a name that I like. However, I have three names picked out for girls:
Aaliyah Gabrielle Tamara Antice Tionne Anastasia |
I'm not a big fan of pain or small children so I seriously doubt any children in the near future but IF I have children one day, these are some names I like:
Boys: Samuel, Sy, Kiron, Marlon Girls: Jacquelyn, Joelle, Rosalyn, Samara, Katherine, Shauna, Marja, Aidyl (pronounced "Ideal" or "Ah-deal" - I knew this girl who was named after her aunt, Lydia. Her name, "Aidyl" is Lydia spelled backward. I think it's so unique) Now, I don't know about babies, but I AM getting a shih tzu puppy really soon. I'm naming her either "Cotten" or "Sweetness" :) |
I just had to post a reply to this topic. I don't have any children yet but I do know that I want girls (4 of them).
So my favorite girls name so far: Camyrn (Cameron), McKenzie, Taylor, Zenobia, Bryanna, Skylar, Ariana, Madison, Zaria, Zondra, and Christian (maybe?). Of all those names Camyrn is my favorite. So if I am ever fortunate enough to get married, settle down, and have children my first born will be Camryn (whether a boy --cause I might be surprised--or girl). My first name is Courtney, so maybe I can let one of my girls use Courtney as her middle name...... just a thought. |
Girls: Zarah, Zoe, Zephany, Zora
Boys: Elijah, Micah, Jonah :) |
As some of the previous posters, I don't have any children currently but I do want some after marriage.
Ariana Nicole Kaylyn Nashae |
My son's name is David Josiah but I want a daughter and when I have one my hubby and I have decided on Courtney Alicia and if we have another boy we'll name him Jordan Bruce :D

I'll post on this forum too:
Boys: Asa Orland Bruce Jaylen Kellis Girls: Taylor Ke'lis Morgan |
well... i don't have kids yet :(
i did name my brother's 17 month old triplets though: *samuel charles (samuel from the bible and it was our grandfather's name) *savanna victoria (my sis in law conceived in savannah, ga) *samantha janeen if i have kids of my own, i'd like my son to be: *noah christopher *jacob javaughn *adam nelson (nelson is my dad) daughters to be: *lola simone (lola is my grandmother's name) *zora kamille or zora rose *heaven reese if had i had twin girls, i'd like for them to be called: paige and payton |
I just glanced through this thread and some of those names are past strange! Whatever happened to spelling names the way they sound and vice versa. A child has to live with his/her given name the rest of its life. A teacher shouldn't have to figure out what on earth a child's name is and that child shouldn't have to hear its name mispronounced. It is a proven fact that children with extremely unusual names have a harder time in school because children like to be like everyone else. Other children can be cruel also and a name is one way to make fun of peers. Think ahead - with a name like Precious (or worse), how can one be taken seriously in a career. Everyone is entitled to her own opinion and now you know mine!
|
I would have a few names to choose from:
Boy: Kiernan Dean Mikhail Girl: Aris Nicole or Neekol-------Pronounced (Areece) Jannah ----------Pronounced (Hannah) Raylah |
I have a friend that has a friend (are you following me) that named her daughter:
Heavenly (first) Blessing (middle) What do you think about that? ------------------ Thats nothing I know a girl that named her Daughter Cashe (first) Monet (middle) |
Even though I want all boys, I only have a few names...
I like: Nemiah Jelani Maceo Jules For girls: Dahlia Cydney Denice (after my grandpa and mother) Gryl7 I like Aris too! :D |
