Wow!! It is great to hear 2 males' points of view. Thank you gentlemen http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
Now interestingly enough, I do not think that Max's desire to return to work will cause a "separation" but I will think it cause Kenny to realize that being head of the house does not make him king. He must also realize that Max is going to either work WITH him or go out on her own and work elsewhere. Her coupon idea was a great one. That insures for a lot of customers RETURN BUSINESS hence profits but hey, what does she know she is only a housewife. Anyway on to Bird and Lem, Bird is putting her relationship in jeopardy with Lem with her being immature and selfish. I think that this will be a source of tension but Lem will strive to keep his marriage together because it is important to him. He has grown a lot. He is thriving on responsibility and being a man who is taking care of things. I PRAY he does not get KENNY those darn pills. |
Maaaaaaaaaan tonight's episode was off the hook with Lila kissing Kenny and then African man trying to be shiesty with Terri.
I was really proud of Bird and moved by her loving words to Kenny. |
Last night's episode had a lot of twists. It was shocking to see Babyface's character be unscrupulous but I knew something was up by his comments about women and how we like to receive attention. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif
I was LMAO @ Ahmad's crush on the tutor but found it disturbing that the camera kept roving over her assets. I like how Max fixed Ahmad. It will be interesting to see how Damon handles his dad now that they are partners. Teri got him though, he did not want her help because she "would take over" -- let's see how his dad does. |
Soror CT4, I agree with you on that one. How can somebody make a man who goes by Babyface and who cries on Oprah out to be a jerk?
(he probably sent her flowers after the show, like "I'm sorry my character was a jerk to you!") lol @ myself! I just knew Terri was gonna have an anxiety attack. |

I also was trippin off the character that Baybface was playing. That twist at the end was very deep.
Now to move on to the hair, I was not, and will never feel the way Babyface is wearing his hair. When he was dancing at the club and a strand fell down, I didn't like that at all. Now I am one of the people that thinks Boris Kodjoe aka "Damon" is fine, but after seeing him with that bald head http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif I can't see it. I am usally into men with bald heads, especially a nice chocolate brotha (yeah I went there http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif). But Damon's head just looks like a GIANT lightbulb with no hair. It's like he had a totally different look to me with no hair. Lem also threw me off with having his hair braided. Have you noticed that all the men have gone through something with there hair this season. Kenny now has hiar, Lem has more hair and now it's braided, and Damon with this bald head. Lawd only knows what will be next. Ok,ok I am going to end this long ass post, but the preview for next week looks really good http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ ...and like that I'm gone!! KL |
HOT HOT HOT
Last night's episode was intense. I am still sitting shocked at Lem's resignation but I really do not blame him. He had good ideas and was actually committed to turning the store around. I understand Terri andMax's points of view, however, Lem was using good business sense. I believe that Lem has the store's best interest at heart and by Terri and Max questioning him, it shows their lack of trust in Lem. He's family but he is NOT FAMILY.
Terri's attacks are really getting serious. I am glad that Brian was there for her. It's not just her job that is getting to her but Damon, insecurities with men, etc. I was tooo through with William :o  especially him and old girl having TOPLESS shampoos    . This was a really pivotal episode tonight. I am really looking forward to next week's episode. |
I agree. Last night's episode was intense. I don't blame Lem either. Who wants to put up with the pressure, but like Teri said it's part of his duty as store manager. At least Lem, could have apologized for spending the money without consulting the sisters. That's the only problem I saw.
Now and William his "after hours appointments" was just straight nasty. I forgot to add, if I were Lem, made a $15,000 profit, and Teri wanted to double check my work, I would have let her. Lem doesn't have business/store experience that we know of, so if he didn't have anything to hide, check them. That way if he was correct, then that would a) prove Teri wrong and b) reinforce to Bird that he can take care of business and be a positive man. |
Teri and the panic attacks- straight out of control. She needs to sit her ego aside and get some help. All she needs is for one to hit while she is driving and she WILL be in a hospital.
Damon and Christine- Can he get rid of her already? Like she said, "you don't want her to think we are still sleeping together even though we are" WTF?? How can he even think he should be getting back with Teri if he is still doing exactly what broke them up in the first place. I cringed when Teri said (in a past episode) that her first husband (who I don't think we know anything about) cheated on her, her second husband cheated on her and now Damon. YIKES! Lem and the fam- they were ridiculous. Teri and Max had to attack him like a bunch of greedy behinds. Kenny is no more an owner of the store than Lem but they didn't stop to point that out in the vote. I think Lem went too far quitting and I do think they could have at least acknowledged that he had made a sound business decision even if he failed to consult them. You would have thought he had embezzled the money the way they acted. I did like Bird's analogy as far ask the car and asking about how money should be spent. And I think Brian and Teri are awfully close...I have sworn he had a little crush on her or something since Greene Norris... |
Good Points Soror Kimmie
Quote:
I agree that Lem should have taken Terri up on her offer but at the same time, I understand his wariness and defensive attitude. Terri still sees Lem as a criminal and treats him as one. I was sensing that their relationship would probably take a turn for the better but Terri is still leary of Lem. I admire Lem because he is trying to be a family man and follow in Kenny's shoes so I know that it hurt him to know that Kenny sided with the sisters. Now them panic attacks are serious. There are a number of possible reasons for them: a. Guilt about the accident b. Pressures from not making partner/feeling betrayed c. Return of Ex #1 d. Doing EVERYTHING for her family after the accident e. DAMON f. Residual life stuff from childhood as far as being the oldest, smartest, most successful g. Still grieving from her mother's death (she is the only one who has not been comforterd by Mother Joe since she died) Terri is the ROCK of the family and she needs to pass on some of the responsibility to Max and Bird. |
Re: Good Points Soror Kimmie

I believe she is having those panic attacks because she can't control everything. Usually she has an attack when she feels that she has lost control of a situation. But she is one bossy sister. I wish Lem hadn't quit, but I understand why he did. I couldn't work with them questioning every move I made either. Terry just wants to be in control of everything. That is why she tried to get him to sign that contract. Max is just trippin' because she lost that money in that investment scheme. She saw that extra money as her ticket to get into somenthing else. I just believe she is bored with just being a wife and mother. What did you all think of the situation Kenny put himself into. I know he could tell that his secretary REALLY liked him. And he still went to the game with her. AND HE KNOW MAX IS CRAZY!! (REMEMBER THE DREAM AHMAD HAD ABOUT GETTING A WHIPPIN IN FRONT OF HIS FRIENDS!!) |

So Terry split the vote after all. I believe part of why she didn't win is because of the "Vouchers For America" situation  , but she did kinda just throw together a campaign in a short amount of time.
I noticed they've never shown an episode with Kenny explaining that his secretary quit, or why she quit. |
I wish Maxine would have won because Alderman Davis worked my ever last nerve. I really liked that episode. I was getting ready to kick Kenny but he finally saw the light.
OOO but Ahmad not that he is at fault but don't you know not to tell non Black people that you can't afford stuff. Anyway I am sure Lila will come back in a future episode with Kenny. |
Quote:
Did you catch when Alderman threw up the "sorority sisters" thing at Terri? I was trying to catch a hint at which sorority, but they didn't say. Plus, at one time, I thought Bird's hairdresser was scheming on something because she too mentioned "I'll give them out at my sorority meeting". I wouldn't be surprised if she and the alderman are sorors. When she showed Bird the flyers in the garbage, I thought she'd thrown the ones she'd just gotten from her in the trash to make it look like Max had no support, but they never followed up on that one either. |
PLEASE HELP ME OUT....
Was this the season finale? I've missed a couple of episodes and last Wed. I only caught the end. And I didn't see a preview for the upcoming week (this week).
Can someone pls. let me know....Thanks!!!! |

This is the summary of this week's upcoming episode: Fly Away Home", Episode #33. Lem and Bird's marriage suffers; Teri forces her family away from Damon. |
Thanks CT4, I was just a little confused.

Time for my 06 cents
I told ya Kenny would come aroune :) ! But that child of his Amahed should have gotten the you know what out of him! That boy needs to stop thinking about himself. But what can you say! We all make mistakes as kids. It is time for Damon to make his big power play back into Terri's life. I think this episode is a big turining point! Question: Do your Ex Man and Family have a tight relationship?

Keeps Getting Better and Better
OOOOOOOOOOO WEE!! This episode was HOT HOT HOT!!
I thought Terri was gonig to knock the "cow walking mess" outta Bird when she told her she doesn't understand because she is not a wife or mother. I really was scared for Bird and Lem's marriage. This was a case of Bird needing to smell how crappy S*** is instead of other people telling her. I hollered when Terri tried to give Damon that check for office space. As far as your question Sphinx, yes when I end a relationship like boyfriend girlfriend and there are no children then yes I do expect my family to sever ties. I have an old boyfriend who I grew up with so that is a little different but I do not expect to see him at any of the family outings. |
Re: Keeps Getting Better and Better

To me Terri became very immature when she tried to subtly dissuade Damon's nomination, and when she offered him the check. Now that she has her family behind her, she needs to really move on. Unfortunately, she can't just erase Damon ~ plus, his viewers would miss him. ;) |
All I can say is Soul Food gets better with each episode. This show has come such a long way from the premier episodes.:D
Now as for last nights episode, yes it was another good one. I could not believe Bird told Terri she wouldn't understand because she wasn't married or had children. I was hurt for Terri, and I wanted to slap the "crap" out of Bird my damn self. I am glad that Bird did go out and see that she is not missing anything, I think Max was correct in telling her to go, because if she didn't she would have never known what it was really like, and that it was not for her. I still thought she was crazy for wanting to do it, but I could see where she was coming from. Lem has come such a long way, I was glad to see him come around and support his wife, even if she was being and acting simple. You all know what was funny. When Max said to Lem that they would be back around 3pm for Sunday dinner, and Bird was like you still having Sunday dinner, and Lem was like it's still Sunday. I thought that was classic. :) |

It's Good For the Soul
OK now I am a little upset with Bird. She makes this big case about going away and not even stopping to her first city she is ready to go home! Secondly, if you have a stable GOOD father, please leave your son at home that was mad selfish for her to do. Bird needs to realize that when she makes these kinds of decisions it affects the entire family! Sometimes what is good for you may not be good for everyone else. It is called sacrifice and if you are not willing to make it you should not be married with children! Ladies don't get me wrong I am not knocking having a dream or having adventure and DEFINITLY do not put your life on hold if you have greater ambitions but try to think how your decision is gonna affect other people.
Terri Get a grip please. Be professsional with Damon. Offering him a new office space was petty! This was your ex-man. But he still is a business man. The way the family went about cutting him off is wrong. When you have a young man like Amahed you need to have positive Black Men in their lives daily and he was doing that! Damon spent time with him and was good for him. I hope Bird uses better judgement in the future and Terri can keep it professional before her and Damon are doing the wild thing on a office desk. Sphinxpoet I only had a couple of things on my mind.;) |
I have to agree with sphinxpoet. I argued with my boyfriend all night about Bird's decision. He comes from a single man's perspective (not to mentione a dollar sign chasing perspective). I knew she wasn't going to be able to go and I thought she was being selfish by taking the baby although I knew as a mom, she would want to have her baby with her. If she were a single mom thenI think the situation would obviously be different...she could go on the road...forever, hire a tutor (the whole celebrity mom thing) but not with the daddy at home, etc., etc.
Max's perspective, valid as it was, was also based on her own experience as a SAHM 24/7. Bird is not a SAHM and has a thriving business and a man who is primary caregiver to their baby. No one said it was easy but as a mom and wife, family comes first and nothing is worth tearing up the family over. I am mad at the Bird crotch shots before she and Lem got it on. I do not need to see that. How about some crotch shots of da fellas every now and again :) Damion told Terri just where to go and she deserved it. She is actually making herself look dumber as the episodes go by. She gave him entirely too much power. I am nervous about what the future brings...how will their relationship pan out I wonder? Damion shole do look good though. |
Quote:
I too thought that about the crotch shots. I know they want it to be steamy, but have they forgotten that they have a mainly female audience? I'm getting tired of seeing Bird in her undies, man. Once in a while is ok for the guys that watch it, but personally, I could do without it. And, (no, trust me, I'm not hatin'), but do they have a new makeup artist? Everyone on there has their own natural beauty and are gorgeous. But they have Bird wearing purple eyeshadow and rust lipstick (big no-no) . Also, you could see the stretch marks on her hips and lines in Debra Cox's back. I don't know, maybe I just pay too close attention to details. :) The show was still good, though. :D |
I agree that the show has come a long way.
I think Terri should have reimbursed Bird for losing Damon's business. It's one thing to cut family ties, but $$$ is another. Ahmad's folks are always wanting better opportunities for him, want him to treat people fair, and then they pull this. Didn't they learn anything from the episode 2 weeks ago when they got the coach fired? Damon was on point to tell Terri what she could do with her money. I wonder if she will tell her law firm to sever ties with him and how long before someone discovers they were dating? I can't wait to see how Terri (and Damon) will explain how they played perfect strangers. |
BAAAAAAAAANGING EPISODE
SOUL FOOD is the only thing on TV worth watching and tonight's ep was AAAAAALLLLLLLL of that.
I was on the edge of my seat watching it tonight. WHAT SCANDALOUS STUFF is JACK UP TO? WHYYYYYYYY WAS TONIGHT the last new episode until January!?!??!? I was LMAO @ AHmad and his kisses. Keesha is working her man :p I am so glad Max stepped in to help her man. $500,000 is a BIT MUCH for some bail. I feel so bad for Lem. That jail scene was OFF THE HOOK    That detective was RUDE  and SCANDALOUS to arrest Lem at Groove Theory!! Oh and I knew Terri and Braxton were going to have "Chemistry". This will make the office an even more interesting place to work at. I love this love this love this SHOW!! < ------ cancelling Showtime tomorrow:p |
CT4,
I am sooooo very upset that I missed Soul Food last night. I totally forgot that yestereday was Wednesday and went to sleep at 9:30 thinking nothing else was coming on. I am definitely going to have to catch the repeat on Sunday. I am also a little upset that you posted that there will not be anymore new episodes until January...what's up with that. That's cool because the show has definitely come to a point where they are leaving us wanting more. :D |

I know it's tv and all, but man, they have some of the speediest trials I've ever seen. I also didn't understand why Bird jumped all over Kenny for being too busy for her. Dang, the man got to support his family. Can't wait 'til January... |
Re: Re: BAAAAAAAAANGING EPISODE

That wasn't a trial, that was just an arrainment to see if there was enough evidence to warrant a trial. But, you are right $500k's for arson!! Oh, and that jail scene was just ...OH, MY!! I never wanna go to jail!! I believe it could have been Hardy Lester myself. They need to prove that he was actually in Mississippi. That seems like something that he would do, especially after playing crazy didn't work. Bird was wrong for jumping all over Kenny. I guess if he would have explained that he NEEDED this contract (especially since he lost his biggest client of 10 years), she would have understood. I don't know what is up with Jack, but he is one twisted soul! |

Finally
GREAT EPISODE!
I felt Amahd's Pain(But that was a damn quick fight). But 1/2 a million for Lem to get out of Jail! You have got to be kidding me! You know the person who set the fire is someone we were not even thinking of...........I am mad I have to wait til January to find out who it is. But that is the way that love goes. Terri needs to stay away from men for a minute and get her head together. It seems like every week some new guy is chasing after her. Tell them to relax. Sphinxpoet |

Yeah, January seems like years away.
Last night's episode was great. I was mad at Bird for being mad at Kenny for not supporting. Although I understood. Her man is in jail...in jail without the bail...and she was obviously frustrated with everyone. I definitely felt the chenistry between Terri and ol' boy. That should be real interesting next season with Damion and homey in the same office. Why did the managing partner tell Terri where to go with her inquiry as to why she wasn't consulted about hiring him as a partner with the firm in the first place? Whw was I mad at the new store manager for coming at Lem like she THOUGHT he may have had something to do with it? What was up with the renegade cop following people around and pointing at Lem when he told him to get out of his face like "I'm gonna get you." Oh and finally...once again Bird had on some drawers (read:drawlz) and a tank top in at least one scene...dang! Out! |
I know I'm late...
but GC was tripping.
Anyway, Soul Food was off the heezy this week. I think that this is the best season yet! I definitely felt some chemistry between Terri and ol' boy, besides he's not hard on the eyes. Plus, they have a common work interest. But then again, so did Miles. It will be interesting to see him and Damon in the same office. I hear you Hopeful, that jail scene was toooooo much!! I'm glad Max realized that Kenny couldn't do it alone and when are they going to address Lila's sudden departure? That's like on Family Matters when the youngest girl just disappeared. My suspects: the new manager Hardy Lester The Joseph women's 4th sister Christine I can't believe I have to wait until January!! First SATC and now SF. |
Deleted posts
Arrrrgh! Remember before the GC crash, some of us were saying that we thought Hardy Lester was going to burn down the store after he lost it???? Hmmmm....
Anyway, remember that lady that was working with Hardy Lester to con the sisters out of the store? She told them that he had only a short time to live. What ever happened to her? What if she started the fire? OR better yet, the new manager could be related to her, or in cahoots with Hardy in some way. January??? I can't wait 'til January!!! ;) :p |
Arson Suspects II
Arson Suspects
that 4th sister  Lila:eek: the freaky hairstylist that Bird fired that night  I can't see it being Christine but heck stranger things have happened. Waiting until January will be worse than WAITING TO EXHALE:p |
Ok, after missing the final episode when it aired, I tapped it last Sunday. It took me a while, but I finally watched it yesterday. Well I agree with everyone, that was a powerful episode. EXCELLENT is what this episode was. I have no idea, how in the world I am going to last until January for the remaining 6 episodes.
What I can't understand is why does that fire investigator have it in for Lem? Also, what kind of mess did Jack do? His azz was really, really shady!! I also understand why Bird was a little upset with Kenny because of him not dropping everything that he was doing to help her...But Kenny in my opinion has to also take care of his family. That contract that he is trying to get will not only help his family, but I know that it will flow down to Bird in somekind of way.:D |
