I used to go to U of L & have several friends that are/were initiated into sororities there & your attitude about the other sororities makes me very sad for you!

I'd love to have a house, let alone a swimmng pool or tanning room! (However, the tanning room would be wonderful, as the tanning beds in my area are kinda nasty.)

FSU's TriDelts were going to install a pool in the late 80s, but PanHel shot the idea down because it wouldn't be fair during rush week.

In the U of L Chi O's defense, that is what this post was about. Even though none of us stepped into the trap, it kind of was a loaded post.

Also, she's only posted 3 times... Wheras I have posted way too many foot-in-the-mouth posts to answer such a loaded post as this one, she just does not know about this board, yet. :(

I think this says it all...But in case you need more...

I know Sigma is ashamed in you!

(And normally, I would think it was horrible to single out a chapter like this, especially based on rumours, but these are words from their own chapter's mouth..and while I realize one doesn't speak for the who chapter, you get the point...)

CarolinaDG 01-07-2005 08:06 PM

You know her? That's funny, 'cause she's the same one who makes the purses I was telling you about. I've only talked to her a couple of times, so I never knew the reason she had the spray tan was for healthy tanning. Interesting.

Hopefully if she comes back to this thread she'll quickly realize that there are a few of us with somewhat long-term personal knowledge of the Louisville Greek system here on GC ;)

Besides, a few of my very best friends (including a bridesmaid!) were outstanding members of the Beta Gamma chapter of Chi Omega during our undergraduate days.

hummmmmm

Wow, I didn't realize how mean everyone could be on Greek Chat! Someone starts a thread about "who the snootiest greeks are" and I am going to give my opinion. I am not a bad person, I am not saying that one sorority is better than another. I am simply stating an opinion.

And also, I am not new to greekchat. I was listed as ULChioCutie before I was ULChioCutie26.

Sorry if my post sounded like I wasn't very panhellenic-ly correct. I was just stating an opinion from when I was a Greek at UofL. And of course, anyone would be partial to their own GLO--no matter what they say.

I had many friends in all of the 6 sororities at UofL--I was a Rho Chi and the Public Relations Chair. I am sure that there is atleast one girl that would say the same thing about traits that each sorority possesses at UofL.

Just my 2 cents.

you really shouldn't call anyone mean when you've talked isht on other sororities.

obviously you didn't learn much from being a Rho Chi or PR Chair.

and if you're not a new GCer you should know by now that we don't talk crap on other groups like that here

I just saw this and thats a cheap shot on the rest of us dude. Come on. I'd never join an org that has a hatred for ethnic ones. You havent been through our rit and you dont know what our symbols stand for. There's a lot of jewish symbols in our rit (not the judeo-christian ones, but regualr jewish ones)

Our former Director of Chapter services for 12 years was jewish a few consultants are, and most of our chapters back east (the RPI's, etc) are predominately jewish. In the SW, there's a lot of "ethnic ones". The chapter I advise is about 80% composed of "ethnic ones", and our org has targeted expansion in the SW US to increase the diversity in our org.

I dont think I'm an awful alumni and have never and wouldnt attend a cross burning. lol.

You know, the mud-slinging is really becoming intolerable on here. I realize that when someone states their opinion, they run the risk of offending someone who feels differently, but come on.

kddani, I appreciate the fact that you're trying to keep people from bashing other groups, but judging by your posts, you're really no better of a person than our UofL ChiO. You say:

"you really shouldn't call anyone mean when you've talked isht on other sororities. obviously you didn't learn much from being a Rho Chi or PR Chair. and if you're not a new GCer you should know by now that we don't talk crap on other groups like that here"

Well, honestly, she has a right to call you mean. You frequently are mean. Especially to those you perceive as being new to GC.

Secondly, I assume you were never a Rho Chi or PR Chair for you to be so un-Panhellenic by making the comment that someone else obviously didn't learn much. Obviously, if you had held one of those positions, you didn't learn much, either.

And thirdly, it is impossible for anyone, regardless of how frequently they visit GC, to know who we do and don't talk crap about on here. It seems that we can talk crap about anyone you feel deserves it, but no one else.

I'm not trying to be un-Panhellenic. Heck, we're even sisters. But you really find a way to step on peoples' toes, and it's getting increasingly difficult to just stand by quietly and watch you do it. Remember, ta kala diokomen.

hmmm... is this the same sock puppet as last time around?

The Protector 04-01-2005 07:45 PM

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but I assure you, I am no sock puppet. Feel free to search my previous posts (there are so few of them that it won't take long). I have more than adequately explained my name, lack of posts, etc...

If you're referring to something else, then you'll need to do a better job clarifying what that is.

sock puppet is another user who makes up a new username to either cause trouble or attack another user. There's been a rash of them lately. I'm sorry if I jumped to conclusions. We've had a LOT of trouble around here lately, and things have been very tense all about.

If you'd like to discuss any of this with me, you can feel free to use the PM. If you're concerned about being ta kala diokomen then dirty laundry shouldn't be aired in public.

UlChiOCutie26, i'm sorry if I offended you, but these "opinion" on GLO posts don't go over well here at all, and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS end up in an argument and hurt feelings.

Amen. Remember, you never know who's reading what is posted on a public internet message board. GC isn't as small as one may think. You'd be surprised how many people either went to "your" (as a general term) school or have first-hand knowledge of "your" greek system.

Tom Earp 04-01-2005 08:25 PM

So, I guess The Question is that No One On GC likes each Other?

Well, that is Wrong in the Hugest Way.

While We as a Whole will disagree at times, there is the True Time that We ALL try to work together. That is Basically Why This Site Was Started.

Some do not seem to beleive that and have their own agenda and try to disrupt. The Truth will find its level.

BabyPiNK_FL 04-01-2005 08:29 PM

It's true

There are 'snooty girls' in every sorority and some of them have done things collectively to upset people and made a bad name for themselves with certain groups because they don't consider them worth their time or for whatever reason. However, that is unfair to their sisters and totally not what Greek spirit is about. I'm not making accusations, I want no enemies, but at one point or another I'm sure most orgs have (or have had people) who have upset others and caused the name of the org to be smudged with a bad rep. Everyone isn't nice and even the nice ones aren't nice all the time. But that's what makes us human! SO LET'S FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE! :) ;)

DolphinChicaDDD 04-02-2005 07:44 PM

I'd settle for a water heater that worked at this point. The poor girls in the house found out that the water heater was not only shot to hell, but it was spewing gas into the house.

AOIIalum 04-03-2005 01:47 AM

<hijack>

Yikes, Phoenix! Did someone call the plumber and/or the gas company? We had a water heater failure earlier this year and it was NOT pretty.

</hijack>

PhoenixAzul 04-03-2005 02:28 PM

Well, the situation is complicated... the house is owned by Otterbein, and as long as we are in good standing (which we are) the house is ours. We pay rent to them. Very few ofthe houses on our campus are owned by the organization/ alumns...I think only 3 or 4 are. So as our landlords, they send the service dept. to fix whatever needs to be fixed. But! OC only has 1 plumber, which creates a problem, especially in winter. The girls had to shower in the dorms for a few days. I believe it got fixed over break because everyone went home. The plumbing in that house overall is just not good...the toilets and sinks and the bathtub all spewed black stuff a few weeks ago and the plumber had to come and work his voodoo on it...we're considering sacrificing a virgin to rid our house of plumbing problems.

Land Lords normaly have responsibily for major repairs, not the tenents.

These sound

like Land Lord repairs unless written in the Lease Hold Contract.

Is there a local Code Department in your town?

Dangerous situations exist and must be corrected for safety of lives.

Tom, the operative term here is "normal". It also can depend on landlord/tenant laws where the property is located, as as you mentioned the terms of the current lease agreement. Trust me on this one :)

I don't know about Westerville, but I know Columbus has plenty of resources available for tenants. Franklin County also has quite a bit of info available. If Otterbein has a Student Legal Service or if any of the current members have attorney contacts it may be a useful resource. Same goes if any alumnae are in the legal field.

Good luck Phoenix! If you need any help feel free to PM me.
