Debbie Rowe is broke! The ex-wife of Michael Jackson needs money and she is planning to sell her wedding ring from Michael on Ebay. Rowe is the mother of Michael’s two oldest children. Rowe was getting a million dollars a year from the “King of Pop,” but the money stopped in October when she made Michael mad. Michael cut off her money when she did an interview with Entertainment Tonight. He claims she broke their confidentiality agreement. Rowe does not have a job, so she needs the money and now she is selling the wedding ring he gave her. Michael and his ex-wife have been battling for weeks. She wants custody of her children and she is planning to testify against Michael later this month during his child molestation trial. Ever since Michael’s legal problems, Rowe has regretted giving up her children. If Michael is found guilty he has already made plans to have his mother, Katherine, and sister, Janet, raise the children Prince and Paris. Sources say Michael wants his ex-wife to be broke so she can’t fight him in court, but Rowe will stop at nothing to get her children back.
No more bad acne for singer Alicia Keys. Alicia has signed on as the new spokesperson for the Proactive Skin Care System. Proactive has helped thousands overcome acne and scarring. Alicia has had acne problems for awhile and at times even makeup couldn’t hide it. Jessica Simpson and Vanessa Williams are also spokespeople for Proactive.
Now speaking of Vanessa Williams…she’s having a problem telling the truth. Is Vanessa divorcing her husband, former basketball player, Rick Fox, according to Vanessa, “No,” but according to his people the marriage is over and the divorce is happening. Why is Vanessa lying? She probably wants to save face. When Rick was photographed cheating on her with another woman she would do interviews and claim everything was fine in her marriage. Rick has moved on, but apparently Vanessa is still holding on. Vanessa’s new album of 70’s classics, Everlasting Love, comes out next month and she’ll be out promoting the CD. I wonder will she talk about her marriage or will she say, “No comment.”
It’s a nine carat ring for MTV veejay La La Vasquez. She got engaged on Christmas Day to boyfriend Carmello Anthony of the Denver Nuggets.
The wedding date has been set for State Senator Vincent Hughes and actress/singer Sheryl Lee Ralph. The two have been dating for a while and last year they got engaged….mark July 30th, on your calendar for the Philadelphia wedding ceremony.
Rolanda Watts is returning to television. The former star of the talk show Rolanda will be the new host of the PAX TV reality show, Lie Detector.
Will there be a second time around for the UPN Show Second Time Around? The UPN show starring Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker has had low ratings and the show was put on hiatus. This is going to be a big year for Boris and Nicole. They are having their first child in March and they are getting married in May. I hear their show may come back retooled next fall.
Playboy founder Hugh Hefner is mad at producer Quincy Jones. Quincy has been dating Hefner’s ex-wife Kimberly. Kimberly Hefner has two sons with the Playboy founder and friends say she has found love with Quincy. Kimberly is 43 and Quincy is 71. Kimberly looks like Quincy’s ex-wife, actress Peggy Lipton. Now speaking of Peggy…she’s writing a book about her life with Quincy. On Sunday, January 9th, Quincy will be the special honoree at the UNCF’s Parade of Stars telethon. The show will air on NBC-10 from noon until 4pm. Oprah Winfrey, Yolanda Adams, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder and Lou Rawls are scheduled to appear.
Diana Ross will not be promoting the new MAC Cosmetics line named in her honor. MAC Cosmetics developed an exclusive line of cosmetics for the eyes, lips and cheeks. Diana saw the finished products and hated them. She didn’t like the colors or the names, so she backed out of the deal. Diana was scheduled to do tons of press, parties and television promoting the Diana Ross Icon Collection. The line is scheduled to hit stores at the end of the month.
Singer Lalah Hathaway was only ten years old when her father, singer Donny Hathaway, died. Donny would have turned 60 this year and he would have been so proud of his daughter Lalah. She has a new CD out called Outrun the Sky and she is also featured on the Luther Vandross tribute CD, Forever, For Always, For Luther. Lalah does a great cover of his classic “Forever, For Always, For Love.” Lalah’s mom, Eulalah Hathaway, is a classically trained singer and pianist and her sister, Kenya Hathaway, is a backup singer for George Benson. Lalah talks about her musical family all the time and the musical legacy that her father left behind.
When singer Ray Charles died, all of his children were given a million dollars apiece. Ray’s children were not the only ones taken care of. Girlfriends, secretaries and assistants were all given gifts, but one man was left out. For 44 years, Vernon Troupe served as the eyes of Ray Charles. Troupe devoted his life to Charles. Charles never used a guide dog or cane because he always had Troupe. The Ray Charles estate is worth almost $100 million, but Troupe was left out. According to published reports Troupe has no money, no income, no pension and no health insurance. Will Troupe die broke? Will the executors of the estate take care of the man who took care of Ray Charles for most of his life?
Gladys Knight has released her first gospel album. The CD, One Voice, is in stores now.
Check out Jennifer Lopez on the cover of Vogue Magazine. The year 2005, brings a brand new Jennifer Lopez. No more J-Lo for Mrs. Marc Anthony. She has a new album, Rebirth, coming out in March and two new movies this year with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. Jennifer also hopes to start a family this year.
Former basketball star Charles Barkley is writing another book. Sir Charles is not one to hold his tongue and this new book, due out in May, is sure to be a conversation piece. In the book, Why Do White People Hate Me?, Charles interviews celebrities and newsmakers as they discuss the appeal of Charles Barkley.
After taking some time off to mourn the death of her former singing partner Rick James, Teena Marie says she is ready to hit the road again and resume touring. She says after Rick’s death it was hard to go on. Teena says all is well on the home front with her family and she is very excited about her upcoming Grammy nomination
