My new member educator is going to be a contestant on a new NBC reality show that will begin airing on January 5th. It's the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Search, her name is Shannon, and she's amazing. I know our whole chapter will be watching and cheering her on!

Re: Reality TV Greeks

Lou Ann Kirkpatrick from Round Rock High on High School Reunion.

She left her fiance, Brad, for her high school sweetheart "Johnny" the quarterback. She used to work for our company but left just before shooting the show in Hawaii. The latest scoop is that she moved to Austin to be with Johnny after the show but they split up after about 3 months. They're still friends but don't really see each other.

Not sure if she's greek but if anyone remembers "The pipsqueak" on that show, the guy that proposed to "The Sophomore", I do know that he was a Phi Kap from North Texas.

OK, so I know there are probably so many threads on this, but I figured in light of my discovering that one of the new people on "High School Reunion" is an ADPi, I thought I'd start a new one.

1- Does anyone know the greek afiliation of any new/old reality TV "stars"?

2- Is anyone friends with anyone who's ever been on a reality TV show or actually been on one themselves?

I'm such a reality TV junkie and I thought with every new season, it's nice to discuss. Question 2 is probably more suited for Chit Chat but could fall here since if you were on a show then YOU would be the greek on the show.

OK, sorry for rambling and probably bad grammar...it's a sleepy day!

:D

Emily from the first Amazing Race was Greek...I want to say Alpha Chi Omega but I could be wrong. She wore a rush shirt quite a few times on the show.

Trishelle was a member of Chi Omega at the University of Southern Mississippi (home of Brett Farve). However, she is no longer a member.

Well, I know there's a whole lot of speculation about that, but I can still look her up on our national alum database...

hoosier 01-06-2005 07:38 PM

Two guys

The small-town GA banker (Called 'Pappy' I think) who made the final three on Survivor is a Sigma Pi, and appeared at their convention.

Chris Moneymaker, who won the World Series of Poker in 2003, is a Pi Kappa Phi from UTenn., and recently did a "Beat Chris Moneymaker" fund raiser for the chapter.

I can still look up members of my chapter, that I know were asked to turn in their pins. I attended and graduated USM. I was also an active member of Pi Phi while at USM. The sororities do not have houses, all eight panhellenic sororities live in one dorm. The greek system is close.

She was an Alpha Chi at SHSU actually. I met her during recruitment. A few girls from that chapter have been on TV I think.

Trishelle was a Chi Omega, but deactivated.

I can do the same with some girls from my chapter who deactivated. But obviously the proper paperwork wasn't filed so they are still listed as active alum (not saying this is the case for your chapter, but I know it was for mine in one particular case). I'm just noting a chapter can ask a girl to turn in her pin all they want, but if they don't fill out the right paperwork, they might still be considered active.

I also remember looking Trishelle up when she was first on Real World and her address was in Mississippi, but it's now in Cali. You have to personally update your address with our National, so I'm assuming she's the one who did it...oh well! Who knows?!? :)

PSUSigKap 01-16-2005 12:53 AM

he's not greek, but had friends in most of the orgs. (probably one of the reasons why he was elected usg pres.) he also went to the "greek" bars on the weekends.

WyoAlph 01-16-2005 01:29 AM

Mykell Wilson from MTV's "The Assistant" is a SAE from Cal. State LA.

it always seemed that they blocked out his letters..do they do that for some greeks in case they want to preserve their identities?

Abram isn't Greek, the school he went to (Montana Tech in Butte) doesn't have a greek system...

I remember seeing the one shirt he wore said LXA on it quite plainly. They might have been trying to block out the school name instead.

The really dumb thing they did was - they are not supposed to use last names on the show and he went to speak at his high school and they showed the program w/ his last name blacked out. Then the principal or whoever announced his full name and they didn't bleep her! Duh!!

You can see all the RWers last names if you look on imdb.com. Since the Internet came along it's pretty much impossible for them to be first name only.

WyoAlph 02-04-2005 12:18 PM

Aaron Levine the runner-up for ESPN's first "Dream Job" is an SAE from Stanford.

Real World Austin Greeks?

Any news on if any of the new RW:Austin cast members may be greek?

The Real World Goes to Austin!
Posted: 01/07/05
They say everything is bigger in Texas--so season 16 of The Real World is gonna be bigger and better than ever because we’re heading to Austin! The Real World Austin will begin filming in early 2005.

In other Real World news, MTV and Bunim-Murray Productions have announced an unprecedented agreement to pick-up five more seasons of The Real World and two additional seasons of The Real World/Road Rules Challenge. The agreement will carry The Real World through its 20th season, making it the longest running reality show on cable television.
