I was totally into white pop music. I liked 1) Expose's "Seasons Change"
2) Miami Sound Machine & Gloria Estefan
"Anything for You"
3) Can't We Try
4) Jefferson Starship "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us"

5) Michael McDonald "Sweet Freedom"

And So Many More!!!

Okay. I have a lot of songs but I'm only going to mention one. I bought an 80's CD just to have this one song (although it has a few more I know) and I listened to it over and over again on the way to work. And I'm telling you, a lot of you may not recognize the group or title but you'd recognize the song if you heard it.

Level 42- "Something About You"

Go to this site and scroll down and select song #3 for a sample.

That song was the jam, too! My mother LOVEDED that song, "Something about you" along with "Holding Back the Years" Simply Redd. I think they were out around the same time.

Ya'll remember Rick Astley? "Never gonna give you up...never gonna say good-bye, never gonna turn around and....desert you..."

there is no such thing as WHITE music...for those of you that like rock n' roll...pop...jazz...bebop...hip-hop...country...blue grass...etc...that is OUR music to begin with...so if you like it...it's because WE were the originators of it...and other individuals revamped it to suit their particular likes and dislikes infusing it with a variety of other cultural influences...

My dear disturbed sister, 'WE' know what kind of music we are talking about. And I am sure that the overwhelming majority of us KNOW the history of American music. On that note...Either go with the flow or hit the door. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif

Now see - here we go again! I thought I was the only one of "us" who was feeling that song. It is definitely a part of my "Napster Download" directory!

Regarding this post in general, I have often said that one of the best things abut getting grown is that you finally feel free to "do what you want" and "like what you like" without the baggage of shaping your tastes to please OTHER people.

It's nice to see my peeps going with their OWN flow instead of trying to please other people! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

IotaNet's comments are so on point. Adults should please themselves, not "others".
As for "white music," I like West Coast and Third Stream, two styles of mainstream jazz (not that Kenny G isht)that were popular in the 1950s. Lots of flutes, other woodwinds, French horns, strings.

ANYWAY!!!

I love Rick Ashely!!! I have his CD! My favorite songs are She wants to Dance With ME, and Never Gonna Give you Up"

I also love "Pretty Woman, and "Lady in Red"

Does anyone remember this song that came out right after Micheal Jackons' Billie Jean? It was perfomed by a female and the lyrics are:

I'm Billie Jean and I'm mad as hell
I'm a woman with a story to tell,
Super Star, you know know just who you are
(you are, you are, you are) It also has a rap in it as well, and can you believe I remember all the Lyrics???? Wow I guess I'm old!!!

I LOVE THAT SONG!!! I can't remember if the person that song that song was Black or White though, Anyway, Keep Posting http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Taylor Dane "I'll Always Love You" (I heard it today, that's why I came back to post) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
