I haven't been around much lately (too busy with school and other stuff for online time) but I wanted to drop in and say that Duke recruitment went fantastically.
Quota was 34 and we (along with Tridelta) got 36 (a chapter is allowed up to quota + 2 under some mathematical configuration I don't understand)!!! Some of the other eight chapters made quota, but some also fell quite short of it. We weren't just excited about "our 36" because of the numbers, but also because they're absolutely amazing and fabulous girls we are so excited to have!!! Congrats to all of the other chapters out there too... (P.S. Next year will be our 95th anniversary by the way and we're one of the few original chapters here on campus that hasn't been through some rough times or left and come back...being the first sorority at Duke always makes the girls open their eyes a little bit during recruitment, because we REALLY are First, Finest, Forever at Duke too!) |

My camp counselor (when I was in high school) was a Theta there, and when I told her that I had gone ADPi, she was impressed! And she now works for Vogue in Paris! |
ZH UNA ADPi Spring COR (05)
I just wanted to take this time to tell GC ADPi what has been happening at one of our chapters.
HISTORY: ZH ADPi started at the University of North Alabama in 1973. We were the first sorority on the campus and since then 4 other sororities have joined the group. One sorority closed in the early 80's. (maybe late 70's) So, UNA has 4 panhellenic sororities. ZH ADPi is the only sorority on campus right now that doesnt have chapter total. They are a strong sorority on campus . . . winning - the university chant - panhellenic awards - spirit awards - sisterhood cant be beat - and they are a beautiful group of smart women. ZH ADPi has just had a hard time lately during recruitment. (There are a few specific reasons our numbers havent added up during formal recruitment - that we have corrected for the next formal recruitment) And, since the DLC we have had a few workshops to correct some small recruitment problems anyway . . . Here is my point. This is exciting. This week all four sororities have come together to help ZH ADPi and are having a spring recruitment. All of the sororities are represented with some sort of brag board or something. UNA panhellenic has really stepped up and advertised a "spring recruitment." The dates of the CR are 22nd and 23rd of February and "bid" day is Thursday the 24th. After, attending the first night the pnms were told that only ADPi was eligable to give bids. Well, 15 girls showed up and were interested in joining the greek system. (which is actually a good number since formal recruitment usually has about 120 or so) The ZH Adpi, Delta sisters, really had to work hard to show the pnm's that ADPi could be their home. Because I am sure that some of the girls came to look at all four sororities and I heard all of them are coming back the second night even though only adpi can give bids. So, the girls must have done a good job. What I found interesting was that the other sororities really helped out. I would have never thought that other sororities would help out in recruting for another sorority as much as they have. I mean, one of the other sororities even wore name tags saying "go greek go adpi." (can you believe it?) That, also says alot for how good ZH Adpi is, because other sororities wouldnt help a bunch of jerks or anything and ADPi at UNA has always had a great reputation for sisterhood and panhellenic. Anyway, I don't want to count my chickens but I have heard that more girls are coming for the second night and we may be getting more alphas in the spring recruitment then we did during formal recruitment. (pending grades and what not) I hope I havent said anything I shouldnt have and I know that people from other sororities and pnm's read greek chat but I am not embarrassed about our past when I see our future is bright. I know these delta members and anyone would be blessed to be apart of their sisterhood. I will tell you what happend, if you are interested, as soon as I find out. I also didn't list the other sororities at the university but I will if somone wants to know. I have read back through what I typed and I edited what I though was unnecessary. But, I can edit again if someone see's something they don't like. |
Conniebama, this is WONDERFUL news!!! More Panhellenics could take a page from that of North Alabama!
The whole Greek System is only as strong as its weakest link, and to see the "chain" work together to help that last link is purely beautiful! No matter how many sisters you gather during this Recruitment, may it always be a special one, one that shows what can happen to ANY chapter of ANY chapter, and how Panhel can work TOGETHER, for the betterment of the system!! |
OK Spring Recruitment Results (UNA '05)
I believe that the first "formal" spring recruitment that UNA has had was a good turn out. I think 15+ girls showed up both nights and more the second night then the third . . . ADPi extended 7 bids and 7 bids were accepted. They had a "bid day" Thursday. . . . and a alpha mini retreat friday night. The RVP (a girl who doesnt show her emotions very much) was very excited about the accepted bids and seemed to have a new outlook on CR's.
I bet we have total by this time next year if everything goes our way. I am so excited about being a recrutment advisor with all of these positive changes in the chapter. loyally connie |
