bikini schmini
One way I've found to avoid bikini irritation due to shaving the area, is to not to. Now I am NOT advocating going all hairy, what I am advocating is the use of a hair removal creme. The Nair for bikini/gentle areas is very gentle and it works. The smells are much better now, and its only ten minutes...longer than shaving..but no itching!

Shine for the Hair
I feel the same way as you CrimsonTide. When I get my hair done, my hair is glistening for days. My hair dresser told me the trick. She uses Paul Mitchell's SLICK WORKS! It's a light gel that makes the hair looks extremely shiny. It works really well and kinda molds your hairs as well. It's about $15.00 for 6.8 ounces. Sebastians and Aveda have excellent hair products. Paul Mitchell also has a Tea Tree Shampoo that makes your scalp tingle! It feels so good in your scalp, but cleans out the pores as well. It's $10/bottle. Try some of these products and you'll be happy!

For the NATURAL HAIR havin babes... :)
Ok - How about some natural hair care tips. I am currently rocking two strand synthetic twists...and it's about time for me to move onto another hair style.
What about the natural hair sistas? My hair is good and nappy..and I find that it gets dry really easy. Which reminds me...Paul Mitchell makes this stuff called Gloss Drops...It keeps your hair shiny for days wiht little buildup. It's not greasy either. Another great glosser is Hair Polish by Perfect Results (clear bottle red writing). But back to my hair dilemma: Does anyone have any natural hair care tips? And no, I just can't wet my hair and be out. I have the Afro of life and i need another style. :) |

Shes Butter is great, Wal-mart has a shebutter moisturizer in a green bottle. Elsta QP shine and mold gel works really well so does Jam!.The best I've found is TCB Shinig gel. Alright I also have natural hair but for some reason those products don't work for me. They work for "everybody" but me so I suggested them. Anyway, my dilema. I can wet my hair and go BUT I need something to make it shine. I've tried just about everything, but I can't seem to find a keeper. I need a product that will keep my hair shiny and looking wet. I hate having to go back to my room(dorm room) in the middle of the day just to re-wet/moisturize my hair. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Love Me |

What works good for keeping your hair manageable, shiny, and LIGHTWEIGHT?
The women in my family have different hair texture from mine-either much more straight or much more coarse than mine, they are giving me awful advice. I've been recommended: VO5 hairdressing-the best, but not good enough to tame my worst frizzes Vitapointe-also good, but not good enough Blu Magic-Tames frizzes but leaves my hair stiffer than a board and people can smell it from a mile away. Just for me-They stop selling it around here. Ultra Sheen-Similar to blue magic, but not as bad. Pink Moisterizer-Used to wear it all the time when I was little. I put some on this morning and it really curled my hair...once the heat hit it. Vaseline- no comment Baby Oil-  no comment |
Is your major problem frizziness?
I would suggest consulting a professional stylist. What might help is styling lotion and a good flat iron. Hey!! Go on Maury for a hair makeover!!:p :o  :D |

Olive oil is the best hair sheen. For those like me with relaxed hair, apply a little olive oil on your hands and rub well togther because your body heat will warm it up. Apply to your hair and a rub some at the edges of your hairline. You can do this before you go to bed by wrapping your hair with a brush/paddle brush and tie it up. OR you can do it before you style your hair. It is light and it won't make your hair heavy. If you have a sudden pimple problem, put toothpaste on it (I prefer Colgate Regular Formula) and it will shrink the blemish. |

Hmm, I will have to try the Virgin Olive Oil. I forgot all about that. The only thing that worked for me regarding pimples was Retin A Micro and Ortho Try-Cyclen. |
Does anyone know of some good products for the removal of blemishes on the face besides Cocoa Butter?

Let me just tell you that for the past 3 weeks I have been using Acne Free (Walmart's ProActiv for $18.88) + Neutrogena's Blackhead Eliminating Treatment Mask, the combination of the 2 has severely decreased my facial blemishes. The Mask says leave on for like 5 minutes but I leave it on overnight. Oh and I use it more than twice a week. |
CERAMIC FLAT IRONS!!??
Okay to 2D and Honeykiss and whoever else has them, I am thinking of buying one tonight over a straightening comb, I might have 2-3 inches of hair so I don't want to buy something I cannot use RIGHT NOW, lol. I want to wear my hair straight sometimes and curly other times. What products do you use to keep the frizz and nappiness at minimum? What brand of ceramic flat iron? |

Then last week I bought Neutrogena's Blackhead Eliminating Astringent. I have 7 scars that are old but are fading. :D |
I love those ceramic flat irons. My hair is natural and people think I have a perm when my beautician uses them on my hair. I just found them on ebay for about $25. They are over a $100 if you order them from somewhere else.

I'll have to try that Neutrogena. Does anyone have any recommendations for fading dark spots/acne scars? I have several and I HATE them!

That Neutrogena combined with WalMart's AcneFree works for me in fading acne scars. It takes time not an overnight change. |

Now I haven't tried this myself...
I heard from a girl friend of mine that coconut oil or raw shea butter can get rid of dark spots. Out side that, I would go to a dermatologist.
|
I'm gonna try to be consistant with the Clinique line that I just dropped a chunk of change on. When I was keeping up with it, I saw a difference. I just have to stick with it. I am part of the "Want Quick Results" club and I am trying to quit. Patience is the key.
I have been to dermatologists, but most fo the stuff that they give is just a pricy version of what is already on the shelves. I am going to make a routine for myself and see how it goes. |

Anyone use Aveda products?

I know Lancome has one, but to be honest, I haven't seen that many in shades for women of color, so if you are a darker skinned sistah, you may have a hard time finding one. You can also just mix you favorite foundation with your favorite moisturizer (because that's all it is anyway). |

As for your question, do you want to wera makeup or feel that you have to wear it? I'm just curious. I don't wear foundation and all that other stuff, but simply use MAC blot powder to eliminate shine. My skin is too oily and I sweat too much to use foundations and other stuff, regardless of how light they are. |

I use Prescriptives' Tinted Moisturizer. They have shades in "our" skintones, unlike NARS (which has an AMAZING sparkly tinted moisturizer that is NOT DARK ENOUGH!)
Tinted Moisturizer is great- not cakey, but a great way to even out your skintone. I rarely use foundation because my skin is naturally pretty smooth, but when I do use it that's what I use. Quote:
