It was Sara Gilbert (aka Darlene Conner) on tonight, but she was following Neela, not Abby. Neela drives me nuts, and just watching her disturbs me.

It's so weird seeing all these new people and watching the core ones (Carter, Lewis, Weaver) fade away.

But hey, as long as my husband Shane West is on, I'm one happy camper. Just make sure Mandy Moore's no where to be seen.

Next week's epi with Ray Liotta looks good, hopefully it will be!

emleepc 11-05-2004 04:04 PM

I'm wondering how long it's gonna take before Abby's little scheme with the medicine she gave away is going to last. Someone is bound to find out.
And yay Carter, for giving it to (Shane)----He's got no beside manner----hmmmm, kinda like Dr. Benton, ya know?
Neela is getting on my nerves a bit.....maybe she'll calm down soon.

DZTUBAGIRL 11-05-2004 04:24 PM

I'm glad that I am not the only one that can't stand Neela. She whines too much and gets on my nerves. I was wondering if that was Sara Gilbert, I guess it was.

Yes...Sara Gilbert's name was in the opening credits of guest stars...she's looking great!

season 11 still powerful

http://www.nbc.com/ER/index.html

Wow, I had to go through all those threads to find an ER thread.
Does no discussion mean no one is watching?? I think ER is even better now in its 11th season than at the beginning. Other episodes that stand out are the ones that have dealt with the influence that pharmaceutical companies have over hospitals and testing new drugs.

The episode tonight, "Just as I am", with Dr. Weaver and her birth mother was great. Her final line was, "I don't want your love if it is not also acceptance." Great writing throughout the episode.

Next week Cynthia Nixon (from sex and they city) will be guest starring as a woman who has suffered a stroke and the whole episode will be from her point of view as the patient. Should be outstanding!

ZTABullwinkle 02-11-2005 02:19 PM

Did anyone else notice that last night we finally found out why Weaver needs the crutch? Congenital Hip Dysplasia. I believe this is the first time the writers ever told us her need for it.

I loved the last line to her mother also.

I don't like how they seemed to throw together Neela's crush on Kovach. One week it is there, then this week it isn't. Consistency, please!

YES!! I noticed that too...I was honestly surprised they broached this as I remember an interview I read with Laura Innes (an AXO alum BTW!!) who said that they didn't want to make it an issue on the show, which is why it was never discussed. They just wanted to make it part of her character...nothing more...

But if they were going to disclose it, then they did it at a very appropriate time!

I also liked that last line to her mother...

Senusret I 02-11-2005 03:15 PM

YES, ER has been awesome lately.

honeychile 02-17-2005 11:37 PM

Is anyone else watching ER tonight?

I think they've outdone themselves - my heart is in my throat over the poor woman who's had the stroke!

smiley21 02-17-2005 11:51 PM

yeah. this episode is giving me chills. it is just too good.

honeychile 02-18-2005 12:02 AM

*exhales*

WOW!!

Between the woman with the stroke, and the children hiding their mother, I am just... dumbstruck!

It's almost like an episode that everyone should see, at least the part about the woman with the stroke. The fact that she was only 35 was SO poignant!!

smiley21 02-18-2005 12:08 AM

If "ER" does not get some Emmys this year, heads will roll!:)

Taualumna 02-18-2005 12:11 AM

Great episode...and Gallant comes back next week!

I always liked him! AND, if I remember, there was some nice sexual tension between him & Neela!

Smiley, I agree. I have this feeling that it will be ignored, but this season has been outstanding!

I knew that once HAWAI`I was cancelled, it would only be a matter of time before Lt. Gallant found his way back to Chicago!

mmcat 02-18-2005 08:33 AM

tremendous episode with at least one happy ending.
i teared up for those children.

I got a charge out of this episode too.

Two comments:

M*A*S*H did this type of show back in the late (?) 1970s, showing the journey of a soldier wounded in the neck on the battlefield and how his care proceeded through the hospital unit. ER expanded on this, showing the woman's thoughts as well.

The 11 o'clock news here in Atlanta did a story on how the technique and device used in the show was approved by the FDA about 6 months ago and is being employed at Emory.

Last night's episode was excellent. I hope I never have to experience it. I almost cried when she just looked at her husband, trying to send him the answer to do the procedure.

There must be another ER thread, b/c I know I've posted before that I just love what they're doing with Abby's character this season. I'm so glad that she and Jake got together (he is so cute!) and I like Dr. DeBanco's wittiness and think it's so cute how he's taken to her as well.

I am *SO* glad that Dr. Gallant is back. He looks so much better with his mustache!

Senusret I 02-25-2005 09:37 AM

Thos episode was SO GOOD. There was nothing not to like.

You are SO RIGHT!!!! He is terribly handsome!! Think we're going to see some Gallant/Neela action? Her character is finally coming into its own, too.

I loved the way they kept going back and forth from Chicago to Iraq - the script writers are really outdoing themselves this year!!

ZTABullwinkle 03-09-2005 08:50 PM

After the episode ended now two weeks ago, I was excited to see what would happen when Gallant and Neela were reunited. Instead last week we get a preview of Trial by Jury and this week we get to see another episode of The Contender. UGH! I want my ER....not boxing!

Senusret I 03-25-2005 12:55 AM

I cried a little. :(

Does anyone know the name and artist of the song at the end? The chorus was something like "I'll find a way...to see you again...."

ETA: Rachael Yamagata, "I'll Find a Way"

http://www.rachaelyamagata.com/

I'll find a way to see you again
I'll find a way to see you again

I used to think that anything I'd do
Wouldn't matter at all anyway
But now I find that when it comes to you
I'm the winner of cards I can't play
Wait for me, wait for me
Darling, I need you desperately, desperately here

And I'll find a way to see you again
And I'll find a way to see you again

The rain is like an orchestra to me
Little gifts from above meant to say
Girl, you falling at his feet
Isn't lovely or stunning today
Wait with me, wait with me
I'm alive when you're here with me, here with me, stay

And I'll find a way to see you again
And I'll find a way to see you again

Why do the street lamps die
When you're passing by
Like a hand that won't stay on my shoulder tonight
If you held me close, would you laugh it away
Would you dare the glance that I steal to stay

And I'll find a way to see you again
Yes, I'll find a way to see you again
I'll find a way, a way, a way to see you again
I'll find a way, a way, a way to see you again
I'll find a way, a way, a way to see you again
The rain will bring, the rain will bring, the rain will bring, bring, bring me down
The rain will bring, the rain will bring, the rain will bring, bring, bring me down
The rain will bring, the rain will bring, the rain will bring, bring, bring me down

ZTABullwinkle 03-25-2005 12:58 AM

Wow! I was crying by the end of that episode. Gallant and Neela didn't even get to say good-bye. But I liked how they both were waiting for the helicopters to that song. (BTW, I also would love to know the name of it...)

I didn't see a preview for next week. Are we going to having ER only every few weeks? It has been so great this season, I am depressed that we only are getting glimpses of it though.

You weren't alone.... :( it is nice to see an "old-fashioned" love story on ER again.

You beat me to it -
RACHAEL YAMAGATA
"I'll Find A Way"

honeychile 03-25-2005 01:03 AM

It looks as though we're going to have to wait a few weeks.

There has been some Emmy-winning writing this season, whether or not people miss George Clooney or whomever!

(I cried too, but I also just came back from a Maundy Thursday service, too - MAJOR waterworks!!)

aggieAXO 03-25-2005 01:08 AM

I was bawling as well:(

Taualumna 03-25-2005 01:29 AM

I was watching on and off. I'm preparing a (fake) media kit for an assignment due in a week. I won't have time after tomorrow as I have an event (worth 60% of my grade) to prepare for. I did catch the ending...they know they're made for each other, but they don't know if they'll ever see each other again...:(...they make such a wonderful couple...loved the song too

I checked out Rachael's website. Anyone know where she got her last name? Yamagata sounds Japanese, but Rachael doesn't look Japanese to me. Is she biracial? Is Yamagata her married name?

WesternAlumn 03-30-2005 02:08 AM

I have been wearing out my VHS tape, playing "Back in the World" over and over again. Loved everything with Neela and Michael. I hope that he does not die in Iraq because I love their romance.

Parminder and Sharif did such an amazing job. I am rooting for them to be on the show in the upcoming seasons.

Don't even SAY that!!! Those two were made for each other, and it's about the best sexual tension since Dr. Ross and Nurse Hathaway!!

When I was sick last week, I watched the entire first season on dvdd. It's really hard to remember that Carol was to be a one-timer, dead by the end of the show!

Jill1228 03-30-2005 01:23 PM

That was a good episode. Gallant was looking hella good.

WesternAlumn 03-30-2005 11:14 PM

I have the hugest crush on Sharif! What a difference from his first season on ER. Just catching up on his episodes from last season (The Student & Where's There's Smoke) and I love the relationship between Neela and Michael. Please bring him back!

Taualumna 05-12-2005 11:33 PM

*bump*

We haven't posted in a while. Next week is the season finale.

I'm going to miss Carter :(

aggieAXO 05-13-2005 03:46 AM

can someone give me a synopsis of tonights show?

In a nutshell:

Luca and Sam have sought out couples' therapy. Sam is ready to break up with Luca.

Morris, as new Chief Resident, is acting like a know-it-all, but we all know he knows nothing!!

The interns (Abby, Neela, etc.) are all making fatal and near-fatal errors and Pratt has been overseeing their work, so he's yelling at all of them constantly.

Carter flew off to Paris after hearing Kim's mother was sick. WHen he got there, he learned she's been seeing some French friend. In spite of this, Carter (at the very end) makes a detour from the airport to her flat and tells her that he will return to Africa with her because he loves her...

That's basically it! ;) ;)

honeychile 05-13-2005 11:51 AM

Am I the only one who'd like to hold Morris' head under water for about 15 minutes? He is just SO irritating!!

Even knowing that Noah Wylie is quitting, I still don't want him to do so. I will be a MESS next Thursday!!

Only 15 minutes??? You're too kind!!!! :D

AGDee 05-13-2005 12:11 PM

I don't see how Neela and Abby are going to survive with Pratt and Morris around and no Carter to counterbalance them. Pratt has only praise for that other intern, the one Susan chewed out for not being dedicated, because he meets all his quotas, but he blasts Neela and Abby no matter what. Neela can do no right in his eyes because he yells at her for not taking initiative and then, when she does, he yells at her for doing it herself. I'd have walked out of there for good if I were her!

I figured that 15 minutes would be sufficient to drown him!!

Dee, I agree. It should be interesting how the writers handle it.

mmcat 05-14-2005 12:11 AM

and kim giggled...
gee carter, how real is that to give up your career for a "giggler," who may have set you up with the phone call? i know it is driving the script, but geesh we can do better and expect more.
