Chapter: Iota Alpha
School: Pepperdine University Year joined: 2001 Status: Active Current offices: Director of Overseas Relations, Gaurd Alum clubs in past or present: N/A Why I chose Alpha Phi: I just felt really comfortable with the girls... they all rock my world. It's been amazing. :) I love it. |
I don't know how old this thread is but I'm going to post...
Let's see if I can remember the categories... Name: Penny Chapter: Beta Theta, UBC (Vancouver, Canada) Initiation Date: November 18, 1989 Positions held: I was Historian, Chaplain, President (2 terms), Chapter Advisor, Canadian Resource Coordinator (Western Division!), VAPA (Vancouver Alumnae Panhellenic Association) representative... a whole bunch of other things too! Alumnae Chapter: Beta Theta still... Vancouver area, though very inactive and trying to re-activate. Why I chose Alpha Phi: I didn't choose Alpha Phi. Alpha Phi chose me. My first choice was to be an Alpha Gamma Delta, like my mother before me. I didn't get a bid from them but did from Alpha Phi. I came very close to turning that bid away but accepted b/c an alum said to me, "The thing about Alpha Phis is that you can always count on their friendship. They are all very close friends." I decided to give it a try. I walked into the Alpha Phi room and was instantly accepted. I felt at home. A few years later, an Alpha Phi saved my life (there's a long story there which I will tell privately to those that want to know it!) THAT is why I continue to be involved, even when it wears on me! How could I NOT give back to an organization that saved my life? I need to make sure that it is there for someone else who needs it in that moment. AOE |
Hey look!
It's my favorite person from pepperdine!! yeah, go us!

Chapter: Theta Sigma
School: Southern Utah University Year joined: Fall 2002 Status: Active Current offices: Director of Social Events Why I chose Alpha Phi: I too, was the most unlikely person in the world to ever go greek. I never even dreamed I would be part of an organization like this. Then last fall a girl I had met in the summer brought me along to rush, and I completely fell in love with Alpha Phi. The sisters were so fun and excited and friendly, and I felt instantly welcomed. It was strange, kind of like I had finally found a place where I truly belonged. It's unexplainable. I just knew I was home, and today I can't even imagine my life without Alpha Phi. AOE!!! |

Chapter: Delta Kappa School: University of Wisconsin/LaCrosse Year joined: 1988 Status: Alumnae Current offices: Chapter Adviser--relocating from Eta Delta to Epsilon Gamma this summer. Member of Alpha Phi's Alumnae Membership Strategy Committee. Alum clubs in past or present: past--East Bay Alumnae Chapter but will be joining Sacramento Alumnae Chapter this fall. Why I chose Alpha Phi: In college, it was because of one of the women on my dorm floor sophomore year. She was amazing and rushed me softly for two months and finally brought me into the chapter as a COB. Back then though, I never thought I'd be this involved as an alumna. The local alumnae back then were out there and we knew about them, but they were not organized. Now though, I can't imagine it any other way---no matter what changes in my life, Alpha Phi is the constant. For me, it's not "I was an Alpha Phi" --- I AM AN ALPHA PHI! :D |

Chapter: Eta Theta/Theta Upsilon
School: San Francisco State/Chico State Year joined: Fall 2001 Status: Collegiate (Junior) Current offices: Was New Member Educator for one term, and Director of Alumnae Relations for half a term. Why I chose Alpha Phi: At my campus there were only 3 national sororities, but there could have been 30 and I still would have chosen Alpha Phi. The girls seemed so down to earth, just like me, and I loved every part about the organization. Sometimes I wish I was a pledge again! more about me: I was initiated at the Eta Theta chapter, but I am transferring to the Theta Upsilon chapter next fall. I am very very sad to be leaving my pledge sisters and everyone else, but am also excited about getting to meet and grow close to more sisters! Plus, I get to live in a sorority house for the first time (no houses at SF State) which I had wanted to do every since high school. I also wanted to add that I have been trying to register on here for practically a year and I finally got to do it...anyway I'm happy as pie to be here :D |
Nicolle,
You are too cute! Welcome to Greek Chat!!!! :D aoe, Jessica |
Hey everyone! :)
I am new to this greekchat website but I am a member of the infamous Alpha Phi! Woo HOO! Here is my info: Chapter : Iota Theta School : Wilfrid Laurier University (waterloo, ON Canada) Year joined : Fall -02 Current Offices : Director of Administration Why I chose Alpha Phi : When you first get to University you are unfamiliar with a lot of things. You are far away from home and you have to start from scratch :) My roomate Eva and I decided that we wanted to be a part of something, but we weren't sure what exactly what we were looking for. When we spotted the girls in the red t's with "Red Hot" written on the front and we talked with them for awhile we knew that A-Phi was for us. We checked out info night just to make sure and after that it felt as though we were a part of the group already. University life wouldn't be the same without the closeness that I have shared with my A-Phi girls! I luv em so much. It's so great to see so many people from all different chapters on this website all sharing the same thing; all having one (if not many more) things in common! ~*Beck*~ (I still need to find something for my signature! :) That will be soon to come :D) |

Great idea on the roll call!!!!
Chapter: Gamma Iota School: Texas Tech University (Go Red Raiders!!!!!) Year Joined: 1989 Status: Alumnae Office: Scholarship adviser for both Texas Tech and Texas A&M Commerce chapters Alum Club: Dallas Area Why A Phi: I am an only child, and I literally felt like I was surrounded by women that I wanted to call sisters, each time I went to another Rush party. I knew #1 Greek Circle would be home! |
Welcome to the newest GC Alpha Phis! Now post often! :)
|
Hi Ladies, I am new to this as of today! I'm so excited! I was feeling as if I wasn't connected to the A-Phi community and now there's this! I can't wait to get to know you ladies!
Why I joined Alpha Phi: I joined Alpha Phi above all the rest because I knew it was the best above all other leagues! The classy ladies during rush gave me confidence, welcoming comfort and a place in their sisterhood, hand in hand! If it wasn't for the ladies of the Gamma Kappa Chapter at California State Univeristy at Long Beach, CA, I would have discontinued my academic career! Through and through, candle by candle, the ladies of Alpha Phi have been tried and true! |
Welcome to our little A Phi haven, JeNelle! :)
|
This is such a wonderful idea!!
Name: Cheryl Chapter: Eta Delta School: Cal State Hayward Year Joined: Spring 2003 Status: Active (Senior) Current Office: none Why I joined Alpha Phi: Well, I transfered to Hayward in the middle of my junior year and spent the first quarter all alone. At the end of my first quarter I emailed the sororities on campus, and the president of Alpha Phi e-mailed me back the next day. And I've never felt alone again! In the next week I met a bunch of the sisters and I immeadiatly knew that I had found a group of girls that I could have great friendships with. All the girls were so wonderful; I felt comfortable with them right away! I am enjoying every minute that I get to spend with my sisters! Alpha Phi has already become a very important part of my life, and I am so glad that I have this opportunity to be involved with such an amazing group of women. |
Hi Cheryl! I'm so glad the Eta Deltas rushed you. And the best part is that even though you're in the home stretch at CSUH, you've just begun a lifetime in Alpha Phi!
I can't wait to hear how Alpha Phi rushes #1 again this year at CSUH...keep us posted! Too bad it's still 8 weeks away. |
WOO HOO Cheryl!!!! (APhiSweety). Glad to see you are on here :). Anyhoo, I'll see ya at my house in 10 min for Sushi :D

Name: Heather
Chapter: IOTA BETA~Yeah baby School: St. Mary's U. Year Joined: Spring 2002 Status: Active (Senior) Current Office: New Member Educator, Director Member Dev. :) Why I joined: I really, really needed a life outside of my usual go to work, go to school. I have always been a person with great friends, and I thought getting 40+ new great friends sounded like a good idea. ;). Well, I knew A-Phi was it during Philantrophy. I just knew; I had one of the best conversations with my sister! I still remember everything we talked about. After that, talking the the other soroties was numbing. I would not change anything, at all. I have had soo much fun, met wonderful girls, and have made awesome lifelong best friends. Joining A-phi has been my best college decision. NOw, my younger sister joined and we share a closer bond than ever before. A-phi Love. |
Heather's on Greek Chat!! Ahhhhh! LOL Welcome, Heather!
I think Iota Beta should receive some sort of recognition for having the most chapter sisters on GC. Anyone else agree?? :D |
Name: Carey
Chapter: Alpha Lambda (yay for alum initiation!) School: in grad school at UT Austin Year Joined: Fall 2003 Status: Alum Current Office: I've been told that now that I'm a full fledged sister, I'm the webmaster! Hopefully the Austin Alumnae site will be up soon for everyone to check out! Why I joined: I had really wanted to join as an undergrad, but it just didn't work out with my schedule, since my school wasn't on the main university campus. So when i started grad school, I felt like it might be time for me to pursue that dream again. After I started attending events with the ivy connection, I knew instantly that I had done the right thing, and really wanted to be a member of Alpha Phi. I saw how incredible all of the girls were, and how much they cared about each other. It was amazing, and I'm really lucky to be a part of something so special! After my initiation (which wasn't too long ago!) I found out that someone I had cared a great deal about had been really misleading me about all kinds of things. My new sisters were all there immediately to help me and to make sure that I was going to be ok. I already knew that they were all phenomenal girls, but that they were there having ice cream with me and comforting me and trying to do whatever they could to help me was unbelievable. I'm so proud and honored to be an Alpha Phi! |
Yay! Another Alpha Lambda (and another grad student)! We're so happy to have you, Carey!
|
Welcome!
