You're a Marine??

<Kelly purrs> http://members.ispwest.com/navane/wub.gif

I periodically volunteer for the Marine Corps Community Service department at Camp Pendleton. I've been a few times to work at the homecoming events serving refreshments to Marines recently returned from Iraq and their families. I enjoy doing my patriotic duty by....ahem... "supporting the troops".

PS - the whole "hotness is intimidating" thing is a long running GreekChat joke. Not that I think that about myself! LOL

OH! Can I be added to the list of PNM's??? Pretty please! Don't forget me! :)

pbear19 06-01-2005 07:50 PM

Hi! So, I haven't been on here in *forever*, but I think it's awesome I'm still on the list! :) I haven't given up yet, I've moved since the last time I was seriously looking into everything, and there still aren't any chapters nearby for the sororities I am most interested in. So, I'm biding my time, and while one of my good friends here may hook me up with something, I am otherwise just waiting until I move again. (Which should be within a year or so, as soon as I am eligible for a promotion)

So keep me on the list please! :)

And congratulations to all the new alumna initiates, it's great to see all the sucess!!!

SFHopefull! 06-06-2005 11:19 PM

Would you please add me to the listing of PNAM?

Thank you!

:)

Last night I was Alumna Initiated into the Delta Theta chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta at the University of Idaho.

I've been around GC, but wanted a new screen name to reflect my membership.

~~~~~~ @@@@@@ Congrats, VandalSquirrel!!!@@@@@@ ~~~~~~
Just curious, what was your screen name before?
honeychile 11-05-2005 07:30 PM
Navane, that list is awesome!! I think it's a wonderful tool for those looking to AI and for those who were AI'd.
This is going to sound like a downer, but I wanted to be honest with y'all. Kate was AI'd into ADPi because her local became a chapter of Alpha Delta Pi.
In the convention issue of our Adelphean, they list the three women who were initiated as alumnae, and why. Each of them had given decades (yes, 20+) years of service to Alpha Delta Pi, was a special friend of a member of Grand Council, or a housemother. Now, that's not to say that we never do it, but you must have a sponsor and be recommended by an alumnae member in good standing, and two others! So, if anyone is interested in Alpha Delta Pi for AI, your best bet is to get to know an ADPi first, then proceed.
I will say that I know of two women who have sponsors, and are just waiting to meet the other requirements, prior to truly beginning the process - so it's not impossible! I do think y'all should know this now rather than later, and thought it only fair to say so.
Good luck with your endeavors!!
Thanks! It's hard to keep up with who is doing what sometimes!
As for kateshort, she had PMd me a long while back and asked me to add her to the list. At that time, she did mention to me that her local had gone ADPi. Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me, an AI is an AI. It just goes to show you that there are a couple of different possibilities.
I know that some groups would like it known that they only do AI under extra special circumstances. Hopefully PNAMs will read the information threads and heed our advice about being careful how and who they approach.
The AI Roll Call List has been updated!
JennRN 11-06-2005 01:56 PM
Kelly-
thanks for updating the list! It is awesome to finally see my name up there!! :D
ms_gwyn 11-08-2005 12:55 AM
Kelly
thanks for the update for me, but my initiation is TBD...
twocutetx 11-14-2005 08:33 PM
Thank you for adding me to the list :)
I had to slow myself down a bit in my search, but I'm still reading and learning.
I just wanted to note that with the installation of our Theta Chi chapter at Virginia Tech on Saturday, we also had 6 alumnae initiates, including the mom and two biological sister of one of the collegians being initiated. How fun would that be? Four immediate family members being initiated on the same day!
AGDLynn 05-02-2006 10:39 PM
Can't wait for Convention Initiation! ;) :D
Scandia 05-15-2006 01:21 PM
Please add me to the list as a PNAM. I have gotten information about the way to contact the sororities I am interested in, and will be making the first contacts today.
Jimmy Choo 05-22-2006 11:29 PM
Whenever you get a chance if you could add me to the PNAM list? Thanks :)
navane 06-05-2006 09:47 PM
Hey all,
I just wanted to let you know that I have been making updates to the AI Roll Call list. I apologize for the delays; I've been MIA, I know. :( I lost the computer connection at my house and my laptop's battery only goes so far. Do PM me if I've missed anyone!
.....Kelly :)
Jimmy Choo 06-06-2006 01:26 AM
Thank you so much.... I hope someday to be posting asking to be moved to the other list :)
MJo19 06-06-2006 01:58 AM
Yay! Thank you! Hopefully soon I can move to the other list:D
Scandia 06-06-2006 07:05 AM
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. I'm so proud to see my name in the PNAM list.
LouisaMay 06-28-2006 09:46 AM
Thank you so much!
It feels great to see those lovely letters by my name:)
You know, the more I look at this list, the more disturbed I get.
It's no wonder why some GCers wanted off of it.
blueangel 10-17-2006 05:12 PM
Then, don't look. :D
I worry about psycho PNAMs who Google AI, see this list and think "Ooh! Seems like it's easier to get into Gamma Phi Beta and/or Alpha Phi! I should start there!" when that clearly isn't the case. Nobody wants that to happen and keeping this list up only increases that chance of happening.
I'm sorry you feel that way. Frankly, I'm more concerned about the "psycho" (your word) behavior of some of the initiated members from several GLOs who have banded together on Greek Chat. If someone has a differing opinion, or has a different type of hobby, they become the fodder of immature parody threads, and the subject of a hate campaign. It reminds me of the "Queen Bee" syndrome in high school.
Imagine what the PNMs and their parents think when they read this kind of thing on Greek Chat. It sure does reinforce the stereotype of the catty sorority girl.
