I've not heard of anyone having to deal with this in any of the fraternities on my campus. It brings to mind "Road Trip" when they go to that house to get a meal and place to stay because the smart guy knows their grip. Then they realized they goofed once they get into the dining room.

In the Movie "Road Trip"....the bruhz playing the fraternity are actually ALPHAs from Clark-Atlanta University, including the little person...whose name is Calvin!

They are really cool bruhz in person!

Manders, I tend to agree with Alumnus who cares. I dont think its really that big of a deal that most of your chapter doesnt know your grip. Really, its not my place to say. Its just something nice to greet(close bond)
other brothers, in my case, on roadtrips or at convention.

Is it something you would do to kind of prove you're a sister/brother? I was wondering because only maybe like one or two people out of my chapter of like 80 girls actually know our handshake. What do you think?

Corbin, I think you and others will get a better understanding if you read the topic "But Why Are NPHC Groups So Different???"

Hey!

I'm not touching the acronym situation, just wanted to add a Masonic tidbit.

OES members grip each other, but we do not grip our Mason brothers (if you're OES, you know what I mean). I have been "challenged" (I'm a toddler in the org) while in 'nalia, at a store, and at church. I just expect it everywhere. When it's meeting time, you "greet" other sisters. It's pretty universal, and I think beyond race, as well. I don't know, however, because I haven't met any Non-Black OEs members yet. I look forward to the dialogue, though!
