Day 2
September 7 At 7:15 in the morning, I went to the UC to see what sororities I was invited back. I was expecting to get invited back to Dawn, Jessi, Kristy, and Claudia, or at least 3 of them. But, I was cut from all of them except for 1, Jessi. I was disapointed that I was cut from almost all of them. However, I thought about what people say about being a senior going through rush, and they were right. I also feel that my GPA was not good enough. (My GPA, by the way is 2.91). Later on in the day, I put on my Philantrophy Day t-shirt and meet at the UC first. Next, I went to "Charlotte", my Gamma Chi about today. After that, I went to Jessi's party. We watched a video about the philantropy project. It features a story about a blind boy, and the events to help the blind. I was so touched by the video, because the video had hit home to me, because one of my family members is legally blind. After the video, I had deocarated dog dishes for the seeing eye dogs for the blind. I talked to the sisters about the projects and the video. I told the sisters about the situtaion about my blind great grandfather. I've enjoyed it so much, that time flew by real fast. After the party, I sat at the UC and watch the movies for over 4 hours since I don't have anymore parties to go to. I ate some snacks, talked on the phone and others in the room with me, and watched the movie. The last movie that I watched tonight was Legally Blonde, but it was time to leave in the middle of the movie. Then, I went to "Charlotte" for evaluations and go over the day tommorrow. I was told to not to bring my purse for security reasons. Right now, I feel a little nervous and scared that I'm going to get cut from my last sorority. I thought that if I don't get in, then I can try COB. END OF DAY 2 |
Good luck!!! I hope that Jessi doesn't cut you!!! Crossing fingers for a good day tomorrow!!!

September 8
I've got the phone call this morning saying that I was cut from Jessi. I feel so bad this morning, that I was crying. I knew that was going to happen, becasue I was in the first group to go to the party.:( But those new members better not be too cocky, because I'm going through COB and I'll get in, hopefully. |

i'm sorry things didn't work out. hopefully things will look up when cob starts!
|
Thanks everyone. I was crying three times. I felt like staying in bed all day and I was too upset to eat.
Like I said with my other post, I think that there were two reasons why I was cut: 1. I'm a non-freshman 2. My GPA (2.91, thanks to my math and science grades) |
ok...
now move forward. get ahold of the greek life office. find out what cob stuff is going on and get ready to try again. you are a bright and talented girl. my math and science weren't wonderful either. So smile and get back in the game. understand this is a happening and for whatever reason it happened. now, take a deep breath and move on. it will feel better. |
I'm going to call the Greek Life office on Monday morning. I feel so much better.

I am sorry to hear about your getting cut from Jessi.
I am glad that you are going to COB. Good luck and have fun! |
Okay, guys. This is my last update until most likely next semester. I've put my name for COB and I haven't heard anything from the sororities yet and it's been a month. I'm assuming that all of the sororities have reached quota for the semester and the maximum capacity of 65 girls per sorority. That means that I will probably have to wait until next semester to get in. Until then, I will work on getting my GPA up to a 3.0. (Mines is a 2.91) So far, my grades are looking good for my classes this semester.
If something should happen, I will come back and post. Otherwise, this may be my last post for now. |
grease the ole skates and keep rollering...
get the grades up and next semester might just well be another day. you are a good woman and don't let your head go down...ever. |
Good luck to you in each and every one of your classes, Rollergirl2001! Your destiny seems to be in your own hands, and those hands seem terribly capable!
I'm cheering for you! |
Okay, I've finally checked out my grades, after I had computer problems, and my GPA went up from a 2.91 to a 3.06.
|
there you are...a very happy new year's present after hard work.
sounds like you are a major go now. all the best |
Way to go! Keep those grades up and enjoy the spring semester!
|
Okay guys, I have some bad news for all of you. Okay, I have e-mailed the person who is in charge of Greek Affairs a few days ago about COB and there is no response. That's not the bad news. The bad news is that I may have to give up if there aren't any COB events by the end of this month. Now normally, there would be at least one sorority that would have a COB event in the spring semester. I know, you all told me so about upperclassmen getting in and I understand. Now, the reason why I had to give up is because I'll be graduating in December, and I feel that there is no way that I'll be joining, since I'm close to graduating. Also, I won't be going to graduate school because of financial reasons. So there's possibly no way that I'll do AI. I'm sorry that things didn't work out.
Also, I might have to leave Greekchat.com. So, I'll let you know my situtation with the sororities and my status with GC.com at the end of the month. |
if you're graduating in december, you might consider looking into AI after you graduate. it won't be the college sorority experience, but you'll be a member of an awesome organization!
|
If things don't work out you can always do AI you dont need to be in grad school to do it! Also you dont have to leave us!
|
ditto...ditto... on ai
but don't run away... just get yourself graduated and see what else can happen who knows? |
Ashley,
You don't need to be in grad school to do AI. I suggest that you give that a try, or perhaps join a women's service organization like the Junior League. Good luck! Cynthia |
while you don't need to be in grad school to do AI, AI's not all that easy and it really shouldn't be looked at as an alternative to rushing. Read the threads in the AI forum...
I also very much hate when someone on GC doesn't get to rush, or gets cut, and everyone says oh, you can just do AI. |
So, maybe I'm missing something, but why do you have to leave GC altogether?

i just thought since she seemed like she really wanted to be involved in a sorority and since she's graduating in december that she might want to look into AI. i've read a number of the threads on the AI forum and i know it can be a long but meaningful process. i just wanted her to know that just because she wasn't able to be an undergraduate member of a sorority there were still options if she had her heart set on it.
|
Sorry, guys. I really didn't know about joining AI without attending graduate school. Now, I have a change of heart. I will look into AI.
