Congrats to your daughter, that's quite an accomplishment, getting invites back to every single group. From what I understand, the new release figures they're using make that even more of an extreme rarity. :)

Thank you for the congrats. She and I were both obviously happy that she didn't get cut from any of the houses this morning, but neither of us realized that it was that rare. She felt really lucky, but unfortunately some of her friends weren't as lucky so she feels a little bit bad about the whole thing.

But on a happier note....she visited 5 houses today. Nutter Butters, Sausalitos, Oreos, Thin Mints and Peanut Butters. She really liked the Oreos on the first day but was leaning more toward the Nutter Butters and Sausalitos yesterday. Today, all three left big impressions but she's really partial to the Oreo's again. Their philanthropy project was the most fun and she felt like it was the most meaningful as well. She got to tour all the houses and really loved them all, but especially the oreos. Yesterday she felt like she had a really great connection with the girls she talked to at the Sausalitos but today things were a little more awkward. She said the girl rushing her seemed even more nervous than she was so it made it hard on both of them. She's really concerned she might get cut by them on Friday, but she's staying optimistic.

She's exhausted from all the walking around (and smiling uncontrollably) but she's really excited about all the people she's met and feels like there are several houses that she would feel comfortable in.

Sorry...I just realized how rambling this is without saying much. It's hard to not give too much away and risk identifying her.

How come you got me wanting nutter butters?

lol, i have been wondering why i wasn't better about saving those thin mints in the freezer....and counting the days until the girl scouts start their cookie sales!

Tell me about it! I went off my diet this weekend while we were moving seminoledaughter into her dorm and still haven't gone back on - all I can think of are cookies now! As a matter of fact I think I'm going to finish up the oatmeal cookies I baked last night right now!

Cookie names - not my greatest idea ever :rolleyes:

So seminoledaughter went to the Sugars,Vanilla Cremes, Oatmeals and Chocolate Chocolate Chips today.

Sugars - There's a girl in the sugars that she's always admired and was attracted to them because of that. Today though she wasn't really blown away by them.

Vanilla Cremes - She unexpectedly liked them a lot during Ice Waters and liked them even more today. They definitely have moved into her top 5 and she really hopes they invite her back tomorrow for Skit Day.

Oatmeal - Before rush started everyone told her she "looked like" an Oatmeal and she was really excited about meeting them. She says they were super nice and she would definitely love to hang out with them, but just couldn't see herself fitting in with them long term.

Chocolate Chocolate Chips - She felt really badly about her time with the chips. She said the exhaustion finally caught up to her and she may not have come across as interested as she would like to have. She wasn't really feeing at home there though and thinks they'll probably cut her tomorrow.

She finds out at 11:00 tomorrow who invited her back and she's really really looking forward to the Skits. She's been disappointed there hasn't been any singing yet!

In her perfect world she'll get invitations from the Oreos, Nutter Butters, Sausalitos, Thin Mints, and Vanilla Cremes. (Though she's still interected in the sugars). We know she was really lucky to receive invites to all the houses yesterday and knows she probably won't be so lucky tomorrow. Luckily, she really likes so many of the houses, I don't think she'll be too disappointed unless she gets cut by all her favorites.

I'm going to be beside myself waiting for her call at 11:00 but what's a mom to do....

Seminole Mom, you are the SWEETEST!! You remind me of my mom during recruitment. My mom had a really bad recruitment experience and was so worried about me going through and I know was glued to her phone at all times waiting to hear how it went. She was so happpy when I got AOII and LOVES her "Proud to be an AOII Mom" coffee mug. She says you never knew how many people knew an AOII(or whatever group your daughter goes to, because I know AOII isn't there) till you carry that mug! I am sure there is a mug in your future!!

Hey Everyone! Before I give an update I just want to say how much I appreciate all your encouragement. I actually got goosebumps this moring when I read the thread! I can't wait to get my "Proud to be a GLO Mom" mug!

So....SeminoleDaughter had more good news this morning- 8 of 9 houses invited her back! What's ironic is that the 2 houses she expected to get cut from didn't cut her and the one that did, she thought was a "lock". I assume this is a rush violation, but when she told the girls rushing her in the house that cut her that she was nervous about this mornings cuts they told "she had nothing to worry about - they would LOVE to have her in their house". Oh well, she's absolutely thrilled with the houses she's going to today - Nutter Butters, Sausalitos, Oreos, Vanilla Cremes and Sugars.

She's so excited about Skit Day and really hopes the skits help her narrow her list because right now she would be thrilled to be in any of the houses she's going to today.

I'm soooooo happy for her - the next 2 days are going to be long ones for her poor obsessed mommy!

She's supposed to call me when she's done tonight around 8:00. Yesterday she had the nerve to go home and eat dinner before she called me with an update but tonight she promised to call first thing!

If I could stop reading all these rush threads, I wouldn't feel so hungry!!!

Yes, that is a HUGE rush violation.

SeminoleMom, once your daughter is cut, there is nothing that can be done to get her invited back in that sorority's formal recruitment parties, BUT it can be reported to a recruitment counselor. That chapter will face a recruitment violation. It won't help or hurt your daughter's rush at the other houses, but it is up to her if she feels she was misled and wants action to be taken.

No, she would never consider reporting them. I think it was probably just an innocent mistake by an eager rusher.

She did like this house but really wasn't upset about being cut by them - just surprised. She said she really didn't even notice that they had cut her until after she had picked her top 5.

I wish that I Had known about this website last year!!!
My daughter rushed at UK and had a great rush( full party schedule) and stupidly suicided one after pref!! she didn't get it but was snap bidded and has been very happy. Seminole mom, you have done your homework and are way ahead of the game to help your daughter.
I know how stressful it is be be sitting at home waiting.

Skit Day Update
 

Well...she FINALLY called....actually she didn't....I waited as long as I could and then I called her!

She really sounds exhausted now and didn't go into too much detail about the skits but she still really loves all the houses she saw today. She said the skits were really cute and finally there was singing!

Unfortunately, it stormed most of the day and she said they all looked like drowned rats for the last 3 houses of the day. She got stuck in the Sausalito house because of the lightning and all the sisters had to go upstairs while the PNM's waited downstairs for the rain to pass and when it didn't they just walked to the sugar house through the rain....with no umbrella.

She's not sure what time she's getting her invites tomorrow but is really hoping to get invites to the Nutter Butters, Sausalitos and Oreos but could easily see herself at any of the houses she went to today.

Cross your fingers for SeminoleDaughter tomorrow - only one more day to go!

I was just telling my mom that I think I'm stressing about this more than she is (pathetic, I know). I think the whole thing is just keeping my mind off the fact that she's gone :( Don't know how I'm going to distract myself when recruitment is over - with other peoples GC rush threads I think!

Prefs Update
 

SeminoleDaughter called this morning with her first taste of disappointment. She received her invitations for prefs and was invited back to 4 of the 5 houses she visited for Skit Day. Unfortunately, the one house that cut her was the Nutter Butters which had pretty much been her top choice.

She's a little disappointed, but she really loves all the houses from yesterday so she was happy with her 3 choices for prefs. I think mostly she's just concerned now that she might not get a bid tomorrow.

Today she's seeing the Sausalitos, Oreos and Vanilla Cremes and would be thrilled to get a bid from any of them - let's hope they feel the same way about her! She starts at 2 and depending how the weather is today should be done by 8:30 so I'll update as soon as I hear from her.
