Where have I been?

I didn't know you were from Kentucky.. where?

Also good luck... have fun... don't worry about what others say who don't know the "real" side to Greek life. Enjoy the week!

mmcat 09-06-2004 09:52 PM

bravo on the first night...
have fun on tuesday and remember the only person you have to worry about is you.
enjoy the ride and see what develops and don't worry about any "boo birds."

After having sororities songs stuck in my head and still getting annoying IMs about why I shouldn't rush, I have survived Philanthropy Night. And not just that, I had a lot of fun!

Polka Dots: I have a lot of friends in polka dots, but I've never actually talked to any of them at the rush parties. It's been good getting to know the other sisters, but my hostesses have been quiet and softspoken so I didn't feel as comfortable at the house as I was hoping. Tonight also felt a lot like a meet and greet since we only did the philanthropy project for five minutes and talked to girls for the rest of the time. The girls are still wonderful though so I'm hoping to go back for invites to try to get a better feeling of the sorority.

Stripes had the craziest game to play during the night, which helped to break up the monotony that I felt at polka dots. My hostess was wonderful and I had a great time. Even though I had a wonderful time at stripes, I don't think it is the best match for me. That said, if I am invited back to stripes, I will go back to confirm or de-confirm (is that a word?) my feeling.

Plaid is crazy and cheers so loud. The girls are really sweet though. I had a better time at meet and greet than I did tonight, but I still loved my time at plaid so I'm keeping them in my top two!

Gingham is nice, but I just don't quite click with the girls. If I am invited back to all four sororities, I will have to drop one and I think gingham will be the one I drop. I adore some of the girls in gingham, but I just don't feel as comfortable there as I do at the other three houses.

I find out which ones I'm invited back to tomorrow night. Cross your fingers for polka dots and plaid!

mmcat 09-08-2004 07:34 AM

polka dots and plaids....a perfect fit.
good thoughts with you for today.

Sister Havana 09-08-2004 12:02 PM

Crossing my fingers for you, Brother! :)

pinkyphimu 09-08-2004 09:55 PM

it sounds like you had a great round 2. i hope you get your favorite patterns!

reverie 09-08-2004 10:17 PM

I only got invited back to polka dots, which is fine because I really do like them, but am still a little disappointed because I would love to learn more about the others.

It's a little frustrating, but we'll see how invites and hopefully prefs and bid day go!

I overanalyze everything though and polka dot is the only sorority I had a recommendation for so I'm freaking out that the only reason I was invited back was out of respect for the awesome sister who wrote the rec.

So frustrating. The same friend from above is also the one who says she hopes I don't pledge because I don't have time for it. Oh goodness, this week is just going to be stressful.

hannahgirl 09-08-2004 10:18 PM

Stay calm and keep your head up!

Good luck and I hope that the polka dots are the right pattern for you!!!

mmcat 09-08-2004 11:25 PM

sweetie...
don't try to analyze, just think polka dots...
fingers and toes crossed for you.
keep smiling

Sister Havana 09-09-2004 12:18 AM

That friend of yours is very rude!

Good thoughts for you and polka dots. :)

Reverie, DO NOT LISTEN TO YOUR FRIEND. The ONLY people who know why you were cut are the initiated members of THAT CHAPTER. Members know that ANYTHING related to Member Selection is PRIVILEGED info. So anything you hear, please disreguard it. :)

reverie 09-09-2004 09:18 PM

I went to Invites at polka dots tonight and I felt right at home. They are great girls and their skit was so cute!

Cross your fingers that I'll get a happy call tomorrow night inviting me back to preference at polka dots!

ADPiAkron 09-09-2004 09:24 PM

Finger's crossed!

33girl 09-09-2004 10:36 PM

Here is another of your "geometric swoosh" APO brothers crossing her fingers for you & polka dot!!! :D

And I agree, don't listen to your friend, they are being a poopy-head :p

One of my friends who's not greek said her sorority girl friend (who she claimed is a polka dot) told her that I got cut because I was talking about recruitment at lunch. But I just told my friends, who asked about it, what I talked about at each chapter and how I loved going through recruitment and meeting the girls.

I overanalyze everything though and polka dot is the only sorority I had a recommendation for so I'm freaking out that the only reason I was invited back was out of respect for the awesome sister who wrote the rec.

She claims her friend is a polka dot and the reason you got cut.....

But you didn't get cut from them.

I think your friend is just trying to upset you and bring you down so she feels better.

In the end, you can only choose one house so if you've found teh one you like, go with it.

Good Luck!

mmcat 09-10-2004 07:54 AM

all the best to you.

AGDAlum 09-11-2004 08:12 PM

It is soooo agonizing to read these posts and NOT know what NPC groups are on her campus!

One of Alpha Gamma Delta's oldest, dearest songs is called "Reverie":

In my dreams I hold anew
Each college friendship tie.
Old campus chums pass in review
As dream-wings flit them by.
From out the ranks a chosen few
Still linger close to me.
And staunch and true as years pass through
Is my Fraternity.

AGDAlum,
waiting for news!

reverie 09-11-2004 10:16 PM

Aww. That's so sweet AGDAlum.

There's not an AGD chapter on my campus, but I've met some from other schools who are wonderful!

===

Prefs tonight was amazing. My friend (brother actually) preffed me so that was nice. And they sang the sweetest song. When I was leaving the president said she hoped I had a good time and I said I did because they're all great girls. Then I walked out of the house through the rest of the sisters (they were lining the sidewalk) and went to sign my bid card!

Keep your fingers cross that I matched with Polka Dots!

SparkliiQTMTSU 09-11-2004 10:39 PM

AWWW! Im so excited for you! I can't wait to hear how it all goes! :) GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck on Matching!!!

reverie 09-11-2004 10:49 PM

Honeychile, you're so cute! Thanks for the picture!!

ASUADPi 09-11-2004 11:44 PM

I don't want to sound like a total ditz, but I don't get this whole "brother" thing. Reverie, obviously you are a girl, hence sorority recruitment, but why do people keep saying "good luck brother". Plus, why did you mention that your friend, brother, preffed you? Again, don't mean to sound like a total ditzy blonde, just kind of confused. :)

I'm glad you had an awesome time at your pref party. Can't wait to find out if you will be wearing POLKA DOTS tomorrow!!!!!!!

WhiteDaisy128 09-12-2004 12:01 AM

In their service fraternity, everyone (males and females) are refered to as brother.

Good luck!!

Sister Havana 09-12-2004 12:27 AM

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Brother, and hoping I'll be able to call you Brother Polka Dot. :D

Jill1228 09-12-2004 12:36 AM

Dreaming of polka dots! :)

I'm in Alpha Phi Omega, a coed service fraternity, and we were refer to our members as brothers. (I just changed my signature for rush, but I'm going to change it back soon.)

Makes sense. :) Thanks sweetie!

Reverie, I'm not sure if you mentioned this, but what service fraternity are you a member of and what do you do in it?

CatStarESP4 09-12-2004 02:36 AM

I am looking forward to hearing some news. The suspense is getting to me!
