Hey everyone!

To those of you keeping up with these rush threads, I just wanted to keep you all updated. I just got home from our Recruitment informational meeting. It was really helpful and I met my Pi Chi's who are just awesome! I also met quite a few girls from my rush group and they all seem so excited. Im finally over the nervousness and now I just want to get the Rush Parties started. We meet tomorrow at 815 (so early!!) and have parties all day until 700pm with a short break in the middle of the day. It should be exciting. From what I heard, there are either 1200 or 1500 girls going through recruitment at UF this year so there are a lot of us. Thanks everyone for your support and wish me luck!!:D

Bid Day is usually a sundress. You'll get t-shirts and a goody bag from your house once you get there.... but for the group photos and all that, the girls are wearing bright sundresses.

Ok, it's my favorite time of year!!!! Can't wait to hear about your recruitment experience!

Let's see... weather.com says that it is 90 degrees but feels like it is 94. My goodness, that's hot! I hope you have those coffee filters that I've recently learned about. I also hope those scattered storms aren't affecting you.

How about an update??? :) Suspense is killing me :)

There were a little over 1300 girls registered for recruitment. But because of the hurricane hitting the Ft Myers through Orlando areas so bad more than 100 girls did not show up for Round 1. Just thought yall might want a little update while we wait to hear their stories.

Round 1 update
 

Hey everyone! Sorry I waited until the 2nd day of round 1, but I wanted to see all the houses before I posted anything. Both days have been great and I have already met some wonderful women. It has been incredibly hott (whoever had the idea of holding rush right now had obviously never been to Florida in August :cool: But we have avoided most of the rain except for this evening after the last party when we got poured on as we left the last chapter. Oh well. But anyway, tonight I'm just sitting tight and waiting for the morning. At 10am we report to campus to see which houses have invited us back and then make our preliminary preference if more than 10 houses have asked you back (we can only go to 10 the second round). So I'll update you all tomorrow on that. But since I said Id name all the chapters after cities, Im going to give you a run down on how each visit went. Thanks for keeping up with my thread everyone!

Round 1
Day1

The DALLAS house had the cutest skit I saw all day!
The ROME house was decorated adorably and the girls were all very southern which reminded me of my family and made me feel comfortable
The PHILADELPHIA house had some great women who seemed very involved on campus which is definitely a plus
The NEW YORK house made the biggest impression upon me thus far. The girls all struck me as very genuine and they all made great conversation which was a great break from all the ‘typical’ questions that I felt like I had answered a million times already (although I understand why most chapters do ask the same questions!)
The SAN DIEGO house was my first house for the day and I was definitely impressed by this house. The sister that rushed me talked a lot about why she chose her sorority and she really made me understand how important her sisterhood was to her.
The CHICAGO house was absolutely beautiful! The women here seemed very organized and happy to welcome the PNMs to their home.
The BALTIMORE house had another one of the good skits that I saw for the day. The first sister I spoke with seemed extremely nervous to be rushing girls which actually made me feel better to know that they’re nervous on the other side too
The NEW ORLEANS house was another house that seemed to be very involve don campus from what I could gather (we only had 20 minutes at each house!)
The LOS ANGELES house was a house I was really looking forward to visiting as I have a few close friends in this chapter. I was the most nervous before this house but was rushed by an awesome women who helped me feel more comfortable.

Day 2

The BOSTON house was the first for day 2. Today seemed to be hotter than yesterday and before I even got into this house, I felt like I looked pretty gross from all the humidity (my hair was frizzing) but the girl who rushed me was very talkative and friendly.
The PARIS house was a lot of fun. The house was adorned from wall to wall with their mascot which is one of my absolute favorite animals.
The SAN FRANCISCO house was great despite a little bit of rain as we waited outside. They had a gorgeous garden room and they wore absolutely adorable outfits.
The MIAMI house was another house I was slightly nervous about going into because a good friend of mine is already a sister there and all of the girls I have met through her have been amazing.
The LONDON house had a great recruitment routine. They planned the party to fit in conversation with a sister, a tour of the house, and a pretty lengthy skit. Good planning I must say for the 20 minutes!
The LAS VEGAS house had a great skit. I was rushed by a girl who was from my hometown (although I hadn’t known her previously) and we had a lot to talk about.
The DENVER house had a great skit which included their house mom. She was very funny!

And that’s it for Round 1! I’ll get back to you all tomorrow to let you know where Ive been invited back. :D

Round 2
 

ROUND 2

Ok everyone, sorry to keep you in suspense. I found out yesterday morning which houses invited me back but its been a busy two days so I haven’t had a chance until now to update you. I was invited back to 13 or the 16 chapters on campus. Unfortunately, I was cut from the Los Angeles house (Which I was expecting because I am not a freshman and I heard a long time ago that this house only accepts freshmen), I was also cut from the Philadelphia house (not sure why here either I thought the conversations I had here went well, but I guess you never can tell!), and the final house was a big shock to me (the Miami house) because I have quite a few very good friends who are sisters at this chapter and I also had a recommendation there and thought the conversation here also went well. But, like I said, I guess you cant always tell. :( So after I found out that I had been invited back to 13 chapters, I had to cut 3 as we are only allowed to return to 10 for second round. I was really sad to have to let any of them go, but I just followed what my gut told me and cut the houses which I knew right away were not where I would fit in best. So, unfortunately, I cut the Baltimore house, the New Orleans house, and the Denver house. So after we had a short break, we had to return to campus for the start of round 2. Here is my story for round 2:

Round 2
Day 1
The BOSTON house was great and the girl who rushed me was really sweet. We had a “normal” conversation, which was a nice break from the repeated talks about recruitment.
The SAN FRANCISCO house was one of my favorites the first day, but I felt kind of discouraged as I left because I thought my conversation with one of the girls who rushed me could’ve gone better. Im almost expecting to be cut from this house
The CHICAGO house was great again for round 2. I got to see a good friend of mine who is a member of this sorority. The girls really had their recruitment together.
The LONDON house was my favorite for the first day of Round 2. Their craft for philanthropy round was really cute and I was excited to do it because their philanthropy is a cause that means a lot to me.


Round 2
Day 2
The DALLAS house had a cute craft as well, although I was somewhat disappointed that this party hadn’t gone as well as I felt my first visit had.
The ROME house was the first house I attended on day 2. It was already so hot outside that I felt like I shouldn’t have even bothered doing my hair and makeup. But the conversations went well.
The PARIS house was my biggest surprise of the day. I was slightly reluctant to keep this house when I was making cuts but I am SO glad I didn’t and gave them another look. I really enjoyed this house for round 2. **on a side note, as we were waiting outside under the tent to go to this party at the height of the day today in the nearly 100 degree heat, one girl actually fainted!!**
The NEW YORK house is still my favorite so far. Their rush events have made me feel more relaxed than at the other houses.
The SAN DIEGO house was awesome today as well. This house has given me another reason to be thankful that I came in with an open mind as I had not originally considered this as a house I would fit in, and I really enjoyed myself here today.
The LAS VEGAS house had such a cute craft for philanthropy round that I want to go to the craft store to get my own supplies and make my own! The girl who rushed me is in charge of bid day for the chapter and told me all about all of the planning that goes behind bid day which I was interested to hear more about.

So Ladies (are perhaps gentlemen?), that’s it for round 2. Tomorrow around 830 I should be finding out which houses have invited me back. Everyone wish me luck. Im really nervous about this cut but Im hopeful it will go well. Bye everyone!!!
