Isn't she the 'momma' from Robert Townsend's show with Zaria, etc? Didn't she play in the movie "Tap" opposite the late Gregory Hines?

Yes she is from Lambda.

Okay, I was at Club Delta on Friday, July 23, but I did not meet anyboby. I go there about 10:30 or so and sat at a table by myself, but I did not see any of you. I stayed a while then I left. I feel so left out.:(

Were you there when I made the announcement about which parts of the rooms the various meet and greets should occur? :(

I missed that part. I did see some ladies doing some lines dances, but there were only a few people there when I was there.

I was also attended the DREF workshop on Tuesday, July 27. I didn't see any of you, but I will soon be a DREF Champion for my area and I got to meet and take a photo with Soror Mona Humphries Bailey!

Even though I missed you all, I did gain alot from the workshops, and I got an autographed book. Many congrats to our new Officers and Honorary Members.

ladygreek 08-02-2004 11:13 PM

Trust me, we weren't among the strollers. :D Three of us came in together--MSN4MED and a sisterfriend and sat at a table. I met Chaos after I made the announcement. So it was just the three of us that met. We were probably all there at the same time and just didn't know it.

BTW, I'm a DREF Champion, too. We met a little while after the workshop (which I missed.)

One of my chapter sorors actually spent about a half-an hour in Soror Ralph's room on the first day of convention. She said Soror Ralph was very gracious to all visitors. Unfortunately, when we got there in the evening....she had the privacy sign on the door (which was decorated with DST ribbons:D ). So I didn't get a chance to meet her. I'm not mad at her....I'm sure sorors WORE HER OUT with the lovefest!!

I am the chapter soror who spent about a half an hour in Soror Ralph's room. I actually called her first before I went to her room and she said to come on up. When I got up there, she was just so pleasant. There was so much Delta love in that room. :D

INS2U 08-05-2004 10:53 AM

I only met Ladygreek (which was delightful, don't get me wrong), but, I which I could have met everyone else. I was supposed to go to the meet and greet at Club Delta on Friday night, but, I was the only representative from my chapter and I had to do EVERYTHING so I couldn't manage to get there at all. I was knock out at the end of the day after making any appearance at the Welcome Event. I soon realised I was not superwoman and could not do it all.

I had the opportunity to meet Soror Ralph at the Southwest Regional Luncheon. She gave me her contact information and informed me that she would be in Jamaica the first week of August. We spoke on the phone on Sunday, and she may come to our chapter meeting next Monday. We are keeping our fingers crossed. We have volunteered our services to her to assist with her Jamerican Film Festival and she has accepted. I concur...she is a wonderful person who has wanted Delta for a long time. She is finally a part of the sisterhood and I get the sincere feeling that she will offer all her support and do all she can to do our illustrious organisation proud.

NiaX 08-05-2004 01:13 PM

Awww...this is all so beautiful! :D That would have been nice to have cahtted with her....

This raises a question: What Regions does Soror Suzzanne Douglas reside?

I know that Soror Johnnie Rawlinson is in the Far west.....and from Soror INS2U, it is safe to say that Soror Sheryl Lee Ralph is in the Southwest, correct me if I am wrong.

Heck...do the Honorary Sorors claim any regions, or do they have to be apart of any region?

delph998 08-05-2004 01:27 PM

How was the Gospel concert?

INS2U 08-05-2004 01:42 PM

I was wondering the same thing NiaX. Do they choose their own region or are they placed in a region? I was surprised to see Soror Ralph at the Southwest Regional Luncheon and to hear that this was her region, and it did make me ponder the above questions. Can anyone shed light on this?

Eclipse 08-05-2004 01:50 PM

hijack

I think Sheryl Lee Ralph is wonderful and I know she always seem very "girlfriendy" (yes, I made up a word!) when she is interviewed. Glad to see that it is true. I also know that she is very active in community service (AIDS/HIV research if I can recall correctly). Congratulations!

ladygreek 08-05-2004 02:42 PM

Not sure but

I think, it is the region in which they have their primary residence. Suzzanne Douglas would be in the Eastern Region.

Just a nit sorors, but Farwest is spelled as one word as is Midwest and Southwest.

Phasad1913 08-06-2004 10:42 AM

I had a great time in Vegas. I met NiaX (still don't know HOW she spotted me in the Exhibition hall like that!!! lol)

I was also at Club Delta on Friday. I couldn't find my ls and my momma couldn't do what those sorors were doing so I didn't stroll. I just stood there looking kinda goofy.

4titude_1913 08-06-2004 12:27 PM

oo-oop!

Greetings Sorors,

I haven't been here in a while, so I decided to stop in!!

Sorry I didn't get to meet any of you in Vegas, but the next time the opportunity comes available (in Philly!!!) I'll be sure to do so!

I also stayed in the Mardi Gras Inn- did any sorors that were there have any trouble??

It was heart-warming to see so many sorors in the great spirit of Delta! I was in tears during the entire Opening (..almost), and I am very excited about our new honorary members! I even gave them a ship name: D.S. 'All Cried Out"!! - lol
They seem so genuine about the work of Delta, and now-a-days, that's hard to find. Congrats to them!

What did you all think about the step show? I thought it was a bit better than the one in ATL, because there was more variety! Some teams were just average, but the ones that brought their top game were the CRUNKEST!

Let me know your thoughts...

oo-oop!

Ladygreek, I am real upset that I missed meeting you. Everytime I ran into a Soror that I knew they were saying that someone was talking about me that wanted to me. It was you. I did get to meet treblk and lostNfound, and that was it. Man, when y'all come to Philly you know we fo sho have to hook up.

kiml122 08-11-2004 02:32 PM

Both Suzanne Douglas and Sheryl Lee Ralph are Eastern Region. Sheryl Lee Ralph is engaged to one of PA's state reps or senator, I forget which one he is, so she is in Philly a lot of the time. They both were at the Eastern Region Luncheon and stated that the Historic Eastern Region would be their home....YAY cuz I'm in the Eastern Region.

LostNFound117, you crazy girl. You and treblk both said that I looked like my pic and this is how they recognized me. See I probably walked by most of you because I don't ever remember what people look like.

I had an absolute fantastic time in Vegas. When I got to the airport and was walking to get my baggage all I could see as I was coming down the escalator was a sea of red/white all over the place. It gave me goose bumps just looking at it all.

INS2U 08-11-2004 11:45 PM

Soror KimL122, I don't understand that because Soror Ralph was at the Southwest Regional Luncheon and it was stated during the luncheon that she was assigned to the Southwest Region. She also has a home in Jamaica and left here only yesterday. I spoke with her on the phone twice while she was here, as late as Sunday night. I don't get it. I'll ask her when I speak to her or email her again.

Well she got to our luncheon she made mention that she was at the Southwest, and a few more luncheons that day, but that she would be a member of the Eastern Region. Hey don't get me to lying.

I know that's right!

Soror KimL-

I heard what you heard at the Eastern Regional Luncheon. But given how bi-costal, international, etc. they are, it may not have been fully settled what region they will belong to (Although they would WANT to be part of the Dynamic and Historic EASTERN region!)
:D

BTW, I had a wonderful time at convention. Worked hard, played hard. After operating on about 4 hours of sleep the whole time, I think I slept just about all day on Thursday! Enjoyed all of the business pleneries more than I imagined as an alternate. Frankie Beverly and Maze were great. I am proud of our newly elected National Officers and know they will do DST proud. I am sorry I did not get to meet any of you- but it was great running in to Treblk again! (Good eye, girl!)

Yeah true, and I think Sheryl Lee Ralph will be here more because of who she is engaged to, but hey I think all 3 were really good choices. Hey Soror I was operating on 3 hours of sleep the entire time I there, and it was nothing nice. I was totally wiped out when I got home. I mean to only get 3 hours of sleep aftering being up 25 hours and then 3 hours each night after that, was no joke....but hey it's my fault:) and a good one because I was hanging out late each night with all my wonderful Sorors....he he he.

I know it has been a loooooooooong time since I stopped in here but I just wanted to pop my head in and see what was going on with everyone. I had a BLAST in Vegas. I got there on the 23rd and left on the 26th. I wish I could have stayed longer but I had to get back to my babies. This was my first convention and I'm so glad that I was able to make it. The opening was absolutely beautiful. I cried so much that it wasn't funny. I was in awe to be in the presence of Sorors Height, Boyd, Fudge, and everyone else. I can't wait to go to Philly.

4titude, where you in the step show? I have to agree that it was a great show! There were some that were just ok, but some of it was so live!

I can't remember who all stepped, but the winners went this way.

1st place - Metro Atlanta (ummma and they were hella-hot the theme was set in a courtroom...cuz you can't handle the truth:) )
2nd place - California (I can't remember their exact name, but they were hot too the theme was the matrix).
3rd place - Chicago Alumnae ( I liked their theme as well, it was a boxing match)

ladygreek can drop it like it's hot all she wants. LOL. As long as she's not shaking it like a salt shaker like Vivica was last night on the VMAs. ROTFL!!!
